You Know in my own opinion I think this the right way of offering to Our Heavenly Lord God our prayer, just in my own opinion you know compare to the mass we are now celebrating,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
That should be the case. Unfortunately I do not know the Celebrant of the video. But in my youth the 'violet pompom' was typical of 'Monsignori'. In the video there are two more Mons. in the procession, one wears also a violet robe.
While I am always moved by hearing the gregorian chant, the Mozart of Kyrie does not sound as it should in my opinion. I would have appreciated more a 'Missa de Angelis' sung by all the presents.
Because modernists took over the visible hierarchy of the church in 1958. The only reason they even allow this is because of the SSPX, CMRI, SSPV and independent traditional Catholic Priests and Bishops who offer the true Sacrifice of the Mass.
Except of course the Sarum Rite, the York use, the Gallican Rite, the Dominican Rite, the Praemonstratensian rite, and all of those other rites which predated the council of Trent, which is rather recent in Church history. And, although you at least specified Roman, let us not forget the equally venerable Churches of the East, and the Divine Liturgies of our fathers among the Saints John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, and James...
You should know then that the Roman rite also predates the Council of Trent by many centuries. Pope St Pius V only codified and universally authorised/promulgated it. Parts of the mass go back to the time of the Apostles. Titus 1: 9: he must have a firm grasp of the unchanging message of the tradition, so that he can be counted on both for giving encouragement in sound doctrine and for refuting those who argue against it.
^Thank you. I agree that the Tridentine is beautiful and so rich in tradition, but lest we become proud, let us promote it in as positively as possible.
The cope should not be worn by the Priest, thebrrdman1, you are right, if this was the Asperges (or Vidi Aquam for Pascal Time) then the cope would be warranted, and even then used only before the principle Sunday Sung or Solemn Mass if it is a special occasion, but never for a Low Mass. The subdeacon is not entitled to the stole, even if a priest is acting as a subdeacon.
This mass was "produced" and transmited By EWTN ! the Real catholic network, it was the second latin mass they broadcast. God bless EWTN. and you ........
This is simply the best Mass on youtube. Perfect. It is so beautiful I almost wept. Encouraging to see so many priests who see the value of the Church's glorious history too!
The only time a cope should be worn in the procession is if the Asperges or some other separate rite is to occur before Mass. Since none occurred here, the chasuble should have been worn in procession. The use of "con-deacons" (both with stoles) rather than deacon and sub-deacon is very Novus Ordo, as is the manner of censing the altar: con-deacons walking with the celebrant but not holding his chasuble, sort of random swinging of the thurible as he walks around.
the Tridentine Mass starts with the prayer of the Cross and blesses the people in preparation for the Mass. then the priest changes vestments proper for Mass.
The Entrance of the Sacred Ministers was not a separate liturgical procession, in the sense that it did not start from and return to the High Altar, so why the cope?
This is the best Tridentine Mass on You Tube.

Can anyone tell me why the celebrant is incensed at the kyrie in some Solemn High Masses and not in others.

Why is celebrant incensed during the kyrie. It is not like this in other high masses on the tube.

The celebrant's biretta indicates he is a Monsignor. They traditionally had red tufts on black birettas.

Where i can buy DVD from this Holy Tridentine Mass?
Jackk84 2 years ago
I have a question about the biretta worn by the celebrant. It is black with a violet pompom, so to see.
I thought that Cardinals wore a red biretta, (Arch-)bishops a violet one and other priests a black one.
Does this mean that the celebrant has a special designate, such as being a Chaplain to the Holy Father?

I for myself -a roman catholic- always feel the mystic in Orthodox churches, especially when a cantor sings in a deep vibrating sonore sound.
