I looked at newer homes before buying my custom built 14 year old home. The newer homes had fake fire places that looked like they belonged in a 15 year olds club house. The floors flexed and felt shed like. Yard drainage was done wrong and with minimal grading. Most where placed on drain swamp land, which ow all their yards after each large storm were under water. You might as well say that GDP is a good measure of economic growth and it's not. You need to look at the GNP for that and they no longer make such information readily available like they used to. What they do not take into account is that there are a great deal of people who are not on the unemployed payrolls any more from expiration of benefits due to exceeding the time limit. Talk about high realestate prices. Heck they were too expensive even 11 years ago when I bought my condo. Something rebelled inside me at the prospect of having half my wages gobbled up by a mortgage each month. That's why I chose a condo rather than a house. With the smaller mortgage I was able to pay extra each month. By November I'll own it outright with no debt! I'd never have been able to do that if I had chosen to buy a house. Once it's paid off I can live comfortably on 1000 a month.
