wow ! you definitely know how to drive that car ! I'm a huge subaru fan for winter, awesome control in snow. my 2004 bmw 325i Is definitely not a good daily car for winter but always having a lot of fun with it !
Dont try this on public roads, and rwd/fwd cars dont work the same. Awd cars only, turn off slip controll/dsc or whatever your car has and you will slide. Never ever do it on public roads, no matter how many people there are. Go to a big parking lot with a few inches of snow. When you are first learning keep it under 20mph and just start doing circles or wide turns to get a feel for steering with the back sliding.
What the meaningless comment? "Dont try this, if you are not experienced in this" ... how else can a driver to gain experience, than simply to "try this"?
I mean with the comment in the video: "don´t try this on a public road in 3rd gear unless you´ve successfully practiced it 100 times on a closed track before, as I did in Finland"
@alu57 though generally, I'd agree with you. Some of the best race car drivers in the world developed their skills on the street.
(no that does not mean go do this in traffic). Doing this in an environment where there isn't traffic, or where you can seek help in case anything happens would be best. Tracks aren't as commonplace as politicians/police would like to assume. That too, many wouldn't allow drifting. You'd get kicked out in a heartbeat.
@liberoegrullo Good luck finding one.That's like saying "Stop drifting".There is nowhere else where you could do this.The track is out of the question and about the closed road thing...I for one have no idea of such roads in my country.You can't have a single good feeling in this world which is risk free;live with it :)
in the wet and snow driving/drift line counts and the weather gives you 500hp with plastic tires feel. good for learners to get used to counter steer, but its best to get on a track in dry weather and have a crack.

your flicking the steering wheel and then hitting the throttle at the last second and counter steering beautiful :) have you ever tried on roads that arent slick? thats when it gets hard
applying the throttle is a matter of experience - and a matter of how big your balls are ;)).
At 4.00 I didn´t expect the car fighting me: those are the moments when you experience whether you got the real control or not. I was very glad that my reflexes were as fast as the car.

ganz normale Winterreifen, vredestein snowtracks.
@alu57 i ain't saying you can't drift clearly you can i'd happily sit in the car while your drifting knowing i wont be picking my teeth up from some wall...
Drifting on a dry road is very brutal to the car, and - actually - my 535i is not really strong enough for a smooth kind of doing that. In 2nd gear and cold tyres I can do it with my car (230hp) for some corners, but then the tyres are hot and there is to much grip for a smooth drift. You need about 300hp or more, you need a limited slip diff (LSD), and you need money for tyres ;)).
I'm wondering how you know how much throttle to apply when drifting. Also, how you counter-steer at 4:00; if you didn't react for the second portion do you think you would've lost control? It would be helpful to hear an explanation from a good driver.
And be able to stop in time is not carcontrol? You cannot drift around something in front of you. Maybe YOU can defy God and break the laws of physics with drifting. My point is: Public roads man! Go to the ring and have fun there instead.

And I can tell you:there were some big moments in my life when somebody oncoming made a mistake and we survived due to my skills;))
You must be proud to be German in those cases. Not once did the mighty E34 oversteer. I must say that the driving is very pleasant. You, sir, really know how to drive. You make me miss mine, which I had to sell recently. Lucky you to drive in such conditions, I had to make the most of rain in the best of cases. Great vid, I really lived the drive, with the little frights and all ;) Have fun this winter, and keep it safe!
I also love it!! The problem is that in places where i live they cover roads with some crap, which makes snow look like Mud+Snow.... So I only have 2-3 days per winter when I can make fun...
So, what do you think of e34 handling? I own an old e36, but am going to exchange it to e34. People here says e34 is a "cow on the ice"... But according to your video - things are not too bad:)
I bought another e34 535i this year, cause I love this car, and the handling is perfect, if you have good suspension (I use Bielstein B12). But I also have only one or two days a winter to make such video, cause they always remove snow from the road immediately. I hate that ;)). So I cannot practice drifting as I would like to. I learned it in Finnland with Porsche cars, and thats much fun, maybe I post some more videos of that.
Nice driving, very smooth :) Videos like this make waiting for winter a little bit less tedious! As others here have asked I'm curious, does your car have an LSD?
It honestly takes so much feel and precision to do this kind of thing. I wish it snowed here. I can get similar results in the rain in 2nd but I can't break the wheels loose in 3rd in my 525i
@warlockbass i can do burnouts on dry roads no problem in 4th gear in my camaro... so i doubt drifting in 3rd would be much problem expecially if its raining...
This car is without a LSD??? damn still cool))) i got a 1990 E34 525i M50B25NV with LSD. Last winter was really fun, but when i had to daily drive it, it was a bit sweaty for me))) but it was fun anyways. Great driving by the way!!!
Very precise, quite fast, and quite safe! You are good driver, the smooth and slow truning of the steering wheel, ensures that you eliminate the risk of nasty surprises to minimum, well done!
Hey!
Super video!
Ich hab nur eine Frage;

3:32 ist das zoll oder polizei?
Und in der brücke ne Kamera?^^
ALIVIETCONG 1 year ago
@ALIVIETCONG

@simonistfett

GREAT VIDEO !!!

I think all drivers should do this for practice :P Its good exercise ^^

I also love it!! The problem is that in places where i live they cover roads with some crap, which makes snow look like Mud+Snow.... So I only have 2-3 days per winter when I can make fun...
So, what do you think of e34 handling? I own an old e36, but am going to exchange it to e34. People here says e34 is a "cow on the ice"... But according to your video - things are not too bad:)
Anyway, very nice video!!
BobrDrob 1 year ago
@BobrDrob

@alu57 Ehh.. People do not understand, what is the truly cool driving (I mean that snow cleaners :) )
Forgot to ask - what tires do you use in this video? Are these regular, or special winter ones, or winter ones + spikes?
BobrDrob 1 year ago
@BobrDrob
Spikes are not allowed in Germany: I use normal winter tyres as everybody else too

Nice driving, very smooth :) Videos like this make waiting for winter a little bit less tedious! As others here have asked I'm curious, does your car have an LSD?
kullsyreholdig01 1 year ago
@kullsyreholdig01
no LSD
alu57 1 year ago
@alu57 whats lsd?
DriftXperience27 1 year ago
@DriftXperience27
LSD is a Limited Slip Differential, zu deutsch Diffenrentialsperre

It honestly takes so much feel and precision to do this kind of thing. I wish it snowed here. I can get similar results in the rain in 2nd but I can't break the wheels loose in 3rd in my 525i
warlockbass 1 year ago
@warlockbass
I wouldn´t try to go sideways in 3rd gear on rainy public roads unless I tried it on a racetrack!
alu57 1 year ago
@warlockbass i can do burnouts on dry roads no problem in 4th gear in my camaro... so i doubt drifting in 3rd would be much problem expecially if its raining...

This car is without a LSD??? damn still cool))) i got a 1990 E34 525i M50B25NV with LSD. Last winter was really fun, but when i had to daily drive it, it was a bit sweaty for me))) but it was fun anyways. Great driving by the way!!!

The sterring wheel looks nice I wounder if you can put a 2001 sport sterring wheel on the e34 540i?????
vlady957 1 year ago
Very precise, quite fast, and quite safe! You are good driver, the smooth and slow truning of the steering wheel, ensures that you eliminate the risk of nasty surprises to minimum, well done!
