@HohenemsRage You don't need better quality to relive a moment like this, which will always stand as one of the greatest accomplishments in hockey history.
juste HALLUCINANT !!! je suis français, passionné de hockey et des Hab's en particulier, je n'ai jamais vu une dévotion pareille pour un joueur. le Canadien est définitivement un club a part. continuez les cousins
Honeslty,Nahameim isn't giving Saku the respect he needs. All they're doing is playing him on the second and third lines/ Trade him to a team that needs him!
@avalanchesuperstar hi you again, he is the second line center because getzlaf is the first line center and he has great chemistry with selanne. and they are not trading him!
I had a friend, an avid Habs fan, who struggled with cancerous tumours all over his body at a very young age. His one idol was Saku Koivu, and as his cancer grew worse, he wrote to Koivu to tell him about how much he admired him. Saku, being of a similar situation, called him and had a conversation with him, promising an autographed jersey with other memorabilia. He died shortly after they arrived in the mail. Whether or not you are a Montreal fan or not, you have to admire the inspiration Saku
this just goes to show, how much koivu did for the habs, how big his heart was, and how little he asked in return. hands down the best hab of my generation
As a Finn and a huge fan of Koivu and "still" of the Canadiens... A great moment which really shows a lot of the fans the Canadiens have.. Hopefully Halak can perform some more of his magic and the greatest team in NHL history would be back in business challenging the Cup..
as much as i love and respect koivu, he had to get out of montreal, we could not pay him $3.5 million to be a 3rd line centre which is what he is now at best, the team needed an entire reconstruction, it was just business, happy that he's doign well in anaheim with no pressure
@italstallion06 Yes, I agree. But in mtl it's more then the game itself. We have so much heart in the game it goes beyond someone's actual performance on the ice. We love the team and the players themselves. Anyone who's ever played for the habs has to agree, we have the greatest sports club in history!
@jerman2003 With the greatest fans! The Koivu years brought heart to the team. I hope they retire his number in a few years after he retires, also they need to retire carbo.
One of my favourite sports moments - always gets me. I remember watching this game - the TV broacast cuts to commercial at some point and when they come back the Montreal crowd is still cheering for Saku. Awesome moment and a classy player for a classy organization.
I'll always love Saku, we didn't deserve someone like him, I wish we and the team (gainey) would have treated him better. Here's hoping the Ducks win a Cup next season.
I'm witj you man, i'm from quebec and when the Nordiques quit for Colorado i'm turn to Montreal and my second favorite player is Saku and i'm happy for him that he is going to Anaheim cause Montreal is a fucking bunch of looser that don't know anything about hockey. They just see the stats thats it. Fucking looser city
saku koiu is one of the best captains of the last decade in montreal or the entire nhl its gonna be sad that gainey let go of him becaue saku was one of my all time favorites and still is wherever he is going to play go habs go saku 4 life
a real role model. class, skill, heart. Koivu never took a night off on the ice, Koivu was never afraid to hit big guys like Chara, Koivu always came to play even when we gave him no one to play with.
When he returns to the Bell Centre the least we can do is give him a standing ovation for everything he's done for the city & the team.
a real captain. fearless. played with heart and skill and carried our habs on his shoulders for the last 14 years. The city of montreal has been shitty towards him, but he still came to play every night.
Oh my god!!! Koivu will leave Montreal. I cant believe it. It would be so great that he would stay couple more years whit Habs and then retired from NHL. I have allways been Montreal fan but now i really dont know who i will cheer to. This cant be real. This is like nightmare. Now i am crying here.. =( Hope that there is no one idiot that will boo to Saku when he will play Bell Centre. If that happen i will not be Habs fan anymore. THANK YOU SAKU 1995-2009..
I hear you man but .. .keep cheerin for the Habs ... im a life long Habs fan and ya, they have made some really dumb moves but, you have to have faith if your a true fan. Stay with em in thick and thin. I remember be sooo sad when I was a kid and Leclair was traded .... then again with Roy .... and wow, I remember being so mad when they traded Recchi .... and now, ... Koivu. Montreal made some huge changes recently .. .hopefully its to thier benefit. HABS IN 2010!!!

@italstallion06 Third line at best? He's on season high goal scoring pace. As well as playing a damn good setup man to Selanne and Blake.
Not to mention he was just named as the 2nd star of the week this week.
