i wouldnt advertise selling the ones that use explosives, they are illegal in most places.

pneumatic ones are all good tho

and when you push the potato in with the ramrod, it doesnt matter how far you push it down, there should be pressure behind it to push it back out of the barrel a little. unless you break the pressure seal, and thats bad

i just have a general question. im building a spud gun for my physics class, but it is very hard to find large bore pvc [2"+] and i was wondering if the black pressure abs is safe to use for pneumatics or not. thank you

uh...don't use ABS for a pneumatic unless it's pressure rated.....which I doubt you'll be able to find. the pvc (make sure that's pressure rated...not the foam core shit) should be in your local hardware store's plumbing department. otherwise go to a plumbing supply store or build a smaller cannon.

I put a hole in a piece of ply-wood from 30 feet away with a tennis ball using my potato cannnon! hairspray is a better fuel than deoderant, but i havnt tried propane yet.

Dude, instead of hairspray deodorant or any of that crap, use propane. You're bound to have some fun! careful, propane packs a hell of a kick. Haven't tried gasoline yet.

Right guard packs a bigger punch, and it does not gum up the inside of the cannon. with hairspray, you have to replace the sparker every couple of months. Come check out my new CO2 cannon. WOW!!!

For best results - use a less hair spray and shoot black walnuts while they still have the green coating on em. It supper tight putting it in the barrel and they go much faster than a potato. Don't hold the gun next to your head though in case it explodes...

You may be using 2 much propellant. I think it might be making the fuel/air mixture inside the chamber incorrect for ideal combustion. It's a common misconception that adding more fuel will make it go faster, but it's not true. Try adding a little less, and it will probably go faster.

Ya i would not recomend breathing the the fumes.

After it's fired some NASTY fumes come out of it.

I use Axe , which is propaine.

It gets expensive though.

BTW nice silencer design. I use a vented barrel and it really does work quite well.

I have heard of people using Axe body spray. I heard it is pretty powerful stuff. Does it smell up the chamber? If they made a unscented version, I would be all over it. Thanks for the comment. Keep on spudding!!

I do know that they changed the formulation of Right guard. The accelerants are not the same. I will do more research into it's contents, and post them on my site. Popular Mechanics has recently done research on Right Guard as a form of combustion cannon fuel. They no longer use Propane, but rather they use Butane. Brute deoderant still uses propane.
