@Barklord - nice, whilst we do have a 'philosophy' OF science, this is not the same as 'science IS philosophy' as you imply. Well, i think that's where u R coming from. I say nice, because, it is a cute point. On thinking, it really is a matter of accepted definitions. I would say science by popular doctrine and philosophy of science is 'a process', but that would be my opinion and perception of general wisdom. You could reject this to work with ur own definitions or others - what would settl it
@Hythloday71 I think science operates from certain philosophical assumptions such as: experience is the basis for practical knowledge and that practical knowledge implies usefulness for some known or unknown applications. This has been shown to be true, yet always incomplete and always leading to unintended consequences. There is also the practical application of reified abstractions (using imaginary constructs as physical objects) such as discrete units of space/time. <- This is not scientific.
@Barklord "I think science operates from certain philosophical assumptions" - assumptions R assumptions, we can argue about the 'depth' of implications that those assumptions stir. That is how 'philosophical' they R. But this still doesn't science 'a' branch of philosophy. Contrary, it points to what i say, that science is a verb, something we physically do. Whether those assumptions are TRUE, well that leads to philosophy as you discuss, but not science IMO.
Nice vid. Every Quantum interpretation is philosophy...not science. Interpretations are the philosophy of the science (experimentation and mathematics).
I prefer a non-local hidden variable interpretation myself such as Bohmian Mechanics...rather than one where there are actual acausal events (indeterminism). I am. however, agnostic to this position, so I look at the others as well. :)
@trick0171 - "Every Quantum interpretation is philosophy...not science" - I think that is a good and true observation. Unfortunately the 'practical' men of science don't seem to value the resolution of this philosophical question.
"I prefer a non-local hidden variable interpretation " - Yes, not sure whether i stated it strongly enough, but was an evident conclusion i feel, that is my position also.
I thought science was a particular type of philosophy.

@Barklord Science is a creation of philosophy - an offshoot of philosophy - but isn't philosophy itself.
