One of the things I really hate to tolerate is unbridled ignorance and arrogance. That, unfortunately, comes in many different forms. I actually think the dull designs were SSBB, Riders, Heroes and the better designs were Unleashed, Black Knight and Shadow the Hedgehod. I like his 2D model back then, but IMO, he's better now.

The Sonic 2 sprite I liked cuz it's cool color of blue, his face expression, his pose fitting with his speed, his sharp blades of hair etc. Sonic 3 was too bubbly. Sonic Heroes was too much like a toy. Sonic Riders looked like an action figure. Secret Rigns and up look like really artistic playdough to me (as in I can't imagine him as "living")
Yeah, he looked like a "blue dude with attitude" as one guy put it. I found his Heroes model to be too shiny and like a kid. Riders? I half ways agree with you, but I find him to look too much like he's trying to act cool (what's with the goggles?!). I see, but I don't see that with his Secret Rings model as much as the graphics show him with those bumps that normally show up on PS1 and N64 characters, except less pronounced.

(eh... except they messed up by ACTUALLY giving Amy he real clothes in that strange model and actually changing for the gameplay. That's was unexpected but cool. The real screw up is how Team Sonic wore their gear before and after the race... sorta like how they used hoverboards in Zero Gravity for no reason when only the Babylon Rouges should've XD)

Shame. I am not 10, I can assure you. I just wish they didn't listen to a certain group and instead worked towards integrating the 2D platforming and such to some of the 3D elements, such as exploring, rotatable camera, and some 3D platforming as well.
The 2D games had better(pinball/momentum) physics and more platforming and multi-pathway/explorable levels. They were anything but boring for anyone who's used to 2D and this game will be epic if it combines the old gameplay and art style into a 3D looking HD environment and shifting camera perspectives.
2D Sonic in the Genesis days had the most elegant gameplay mechanics and physics you could ask for, and had the best physics engines. Sidescrolling even with 3D looking environments leaves a lot more disc space for levels. If you combine the Genesis games with modern hardware, graphics and sound, you have potentially the best Sonic game ever.
They'll probably screw it up because most of Sonic Team are not the same people who made the Genesis games, but it's a good idea.
I agree. I have never played Sonic 2 or 3, but i did play some of Sonic 1 (demo) and it was too hard and repetitive. The new games are better because of the variety and beter graphics, music and everything. If people would use this logic. People would realize that the old games were good for their time, but this is a NEW decade and the games will change too. People just want to whine, i think. It gives them something to do.
Really? I find most of them at the medium difficulty. There easy at the beginning, but harder later. The only games i found to be really hard in the Sonic games i have are Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Only at certain times. Like the Egg Viper boss or that Rogue level in SA2 where you have a 5 minute time limit to find all the Emeralds. That was REALLY hard if you didn't know what to do and if you did, it was very hard to get an A Rank which is what i always strived for.
that's probably because you can save the new games, not the old ones though. lol Sonic 3 could save but it was pretty easy. (acutally I found lost of the old games were simpler and easier except towards to very end but only because you couldn't save and you didn't have many lives, rings or moves to work with and you had to start from the beginning if you did finally lose all the way lol)
After reading all of your comments, Axxidous, my reaction is: Finally! Someone with a brain! I like your thought process about not being a fan of anything. People overthink the Sonic series. I say "Just take the game for what it has and if you want to relive the old games, go play them! The world doesn't stop spinning for you." I agree with KCThaEclipse, though. Most will stick with it, but I think a true fan should also not be too picky about things. I'm not and love most new games for it.
Same here. I like Sonic's Sonic 2 deisgn and Adventure series designs best. Others don't. I find Sonic's current designs (Sonic Heroes, Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, Sonic Unleashed, Secret Rings, Black Knight, SSBB) to be kinda dull but others love them. That doesn't get in my way. There's glitches now and then, a lot of games have'm. But sometimes if I play properly I don't really get glitches often. Some games are just more exciting than others too that's all =)
Sonic 06 in 2 days. Sonic The Hedgehog within hours or not at all. lol (can't save Sonic The Hedgehog. If you could, you'd be it a lot faster not having to restart all the time)
I finally beat played the levels in the second half of Sonic 1 by a level select code... then I FINALLY beat the whole game all the way through (no code, just normal playing) a few years ago =) Sonic 2 was the first game I beat when I was 4 years old o.o Sonic 1 was the last (til more came out that I had to beat XP)
Same, I played the 1st Sonic, I didn't like it. Then I played the Rush series, and I think they are WAY better in all aspects: difficulty, graphics, music, controls, multiplayer... Maybe you couldn't play as Super Sonic in stages, but everything else makes up for it.
I see. I never played the Rush series, but it did look like a small step up from the originals. I wish they could make Super Sonic playable in normal stages in the 3-D Sonic games.
I hope its the long awaited return of Sonic hopefully Sonic 4 No more gimmicks please SEGA! Just frantic, high speed levels just like the 2d games as well as the day levels in Unleashed!
Could this be Sega's answer to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Sonic the Hedgehog 4? I really want it to be. Sonic's been playing with gimmicks for too long; I want the old, unadulterated Sonic back!
I think this project will do just fine if they scrap all of the gimmicks.
In fact, all of their past... ten games would've been better if Sega had gone without the gimmicks in the first place. I swear, nothing ruined Sonic Unleashed for me more than the Werehog. Luckily, it's much harder to implement bad gimmicks in 2D (don't mention Sonic Rush Adventure, the ocean was technically in full 3D), so maybe they won't completely ruin this game.

FINALLY!! Sega should just pull a capcom and go back to it's roots just like megaman 9. They should call him robotnik, and call her rosy the rascal for just one game. Thats where you're wrong, seeing as the first 3 Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Genesis/Mega Drive were the best-selling games they made at the time, and AFTER the Sonic Adventure series Sonic took a turn for the worst and, in a way, went into decline and stopped getting as much attention as he used to, so I think its a better Idea to start from where it all began again, rather than continuing back where the SA series left off. Bravo for Sega.

that's probably because you can save the new games, not the old ones though. lol Sonic 3 could save but it was pretty easy. (acutally I found lost of the old games were simpler and easier except towards to very end but only because you couldn't save and you didn't have many lives, rings or moves to work with and you had to start from the beginning if you did finally lose all the way lol)

After reading all of your comments, Axxidous, my reaction is: Finally! Someone with a brain! I like your thought process about not being a fan of anything. People overthink the Sonic series. I say "Just take the game for what it has and if you want to relive the old games, go play them! The world doesn't stop spinning for you." I agree with KCThaEclipse, though. Most will stick with it, but I think a true fan should also not be too picky about things. I'm not and love most new games for it.

Same here. I like Sonic's Sonic 2 deisgn and Adventure series designs best. Others don't. I find Sonic's current designs (Sonic Heroes, Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, Sonic Unleashed, Secret Rings, Black Knight, SSBB) to be kinda dull but others love them. That doesn't get in my way. There's glitches now and then, a lot of games have'm. But sometimes if I play properly I don't really get glitches often. Some games are just more exciting than others too that's all =)

Sonic 06 in 2 days. Sonic The Hedgehog within hours or not at all. lol (can't save Sonic The Hedgehog. If you could, you'd be it a lot faster not having to restart all the time)
I finally beat played the levels in the second half of Sonic 1 by a level select code... then I FINALLY beat the whole game all the way through (no code, just normal playing) a few years ago =) Sonic 2 was the first game I beat when I was 4 years old o.o Sonic 1 was the last (til more came out that I had to beat XP)

Same, I played the 1st Sonic, I didn't like it. Then I played the Rush series, and I think they are WAY better in all aspects: difficulty, graphics, music, controls, multiplayer... Maybe you couldn't play as Super Sonic in stages, but everything else makes up for it.

I think this project will do just fine if they scrap all of the gimmicks.
In fact, all of their past... ten games would've been better if Sega had gone without the gimmicks in the first place. I swear, nothing ruined Sonic Unleashed for me more than the Werehog. Luckily, it's much harder to implement bad gimmicks in 2D (don't mention Sonic Rush Adventure, the ocean was technically in full 3D), so maybe they won't completely ruin this game.

FINALLY!! Sega should just pull a capcom and go back to it's roots just like megaman 9. They should call him robotnik, and call her rosy the rascal for just one game. Hopefully there will be metal sonic in it. do you guys think that in a traditional 16 bit way that eggman will be the last boss, and not some monster. AKA chaos, the final hazard, metal madness, dark gaia.

I think that they really should balance things out a little. people hated playing as sonic's "stupid friends" and then they went nuts with only sonic. oh, and to say my last comment nicely, all the new sonic games (after 06) were such huge let downs, the retro fans needed to go to an asylum.

ok everyone this is all i got. First off the old old sound from the original game. The sega logo still there along with the other things like sonic getting hit. next is the logo. But i have a bad feeling about it. First off i compared it 20 times with the original. That's not sonic or it might be. Something is werid. When i looked it up again and again. Sonic is not holding his hand up like the old one. but let's hope he will be.

Make the adventure fields(if they plan to have them) in 3d and have the gameplay in 2d. Just like in Sonic Rush Adventures, that game was awesome.
At this point its about the only hope I got. I mean...2d? Not 2.5d? So what are they going to just de evolve the series just for the classic fanboys?

Thats where you're wrong, seeing as the first 3 Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Genesis/Mega Drive were the best-selling games they made at the time, and AFTER the Sonic Adventure series Sonic took a turn for the worst and, in a way, went into decline and stopped getting as much attention as he used to, so I think its a better Idea to start from where it all began again, rather than continuing back where the SA series left off. Bravo for Sega.

Well thats true, but back in the 1990s 2D action would have been the latest thing, so In a way we're both right, but because our Generation of gamers are more used to the 3D shooting and Role-playing and Racer games that we have on the Xbox 360, PS3 and even the computer these days, we show little appreciation for what started it all of in the first place.
