  • I'm a Korg, Casio, & Peavey guy, & I think this ROCKS! Well done:)

  • Beautiful track!

  • Wow, this is seriously a great track!

  • Its always been Roland for me. I had one of the first MC202 units when they came out and miss it greatly. I still have a Korg CS10 and Casio CZ101 in the loft but the Roland sound is my favourite by miles. I must treat myself again sometime. Nice sounds my friend.

  • @Bilbo107 Argh! I meant my 1970's Yamaha CS10. Got mixed up with my Korg SD200 analog signal delay thats also lurking in the loft. Its been far too long since they say the light of day. Grief, Tascam and a Fostex 4 track to tape. Where does all this stuff come from. Ha. Horder I am.

  • Great track,I`m thinking of buying the 909 and running it through Pro-Tools.

Best wishes to you and all positive party-peeps out there.

    Greetings from Amsterdam;Eric. ( PEACE ! )

  • How to buy this track?

  • è ottima..peccato che la 505 difetta al 80% sul display!!!

  • could someone explain the mc 505 to me? i'm confused by the way it has keys but they're not being used

  • @KyleUnwin its a sequencer, they can be used...but whats being played is pre programmed.

  • @KyleUnwin you make your clips and patterns ahead of time using those. When performing you just choose when you want clip to enter and you can put effects on them

  • very atmospheric.. I dig.

  • does anyone know if any modern memory cards can be used in this for sequencer/song and sound back up? as the smart media cards are no longer sold for this unit.

  • Przypomina mi to jeden z utworów zespołu ART OF NOISE 5/5

  • very nice man!

  • Excellent tune !!! : )

  • @ChemicalComedown

    thanks !!!

  • v nice mate . how do you record live on it like for pads and so on. so far I have only managed to record in the two step sequencer modes. thanks

  • could someone please tell me what a realistic price for a used one is?

  • @sigmundklaus

i got mine for £215 no manual, check gumtree, i was actually after an MC303 or an MC307 but this has faders.

they are quite hard to get to grips with, but nice sound and the filters are quality

  • @sigmundklaus Don't pay that much for a 505. I'll bet you can get one for 200 or less. They're great machines. I don't like to tweak, I like to write.

  • nice. ill stick with my asr-x and phantom combo though.

  • @Nonniemayrox ASR-X rocks. I use to use the asr-x pro with the 505. I'll bet the Phantom is killer

  • I want this machine...it will definitely help me stay away from the laptop be more creative with this machine's potential...

  • yamaha rm1x ot this one

  • nice...

is it hard to work with this??

  • Not really that hard. In order to get lush sounds out of it like this, you really need to put in some footwork on creating original patches, but I suppose that's the case with any synth.

This track uses a lot of pads, chords and some subtle delay, which really helps to get the best possible expressiveness out of the 505.

you'll also be doing yourself a favor if you create your own drum patches and stay away from played out sounds.

the 505 is really nice when you combine it with a sampler.

  • @ddaynyc I hated tweaking this thing. I love it's sequencer and the previous 303 was a cool unit as well. I think I actually like the arp on the 303 better but then again I don't like to tweak, I like to go! You got some nice sounds outta this for sure.

  • ok kupuje mc 505 :)

  • sounds like Josh Wink

  • I'm weighing up between the 303 ;505;808...or Electribe don't suppose you could give me some poiters as to which would be best ..thankyou.

  • Out of the Rolands, which have a great classic sounds either the 505 or 909 for the intuitive hands on controls and not too many hidden menus, 808 and 303 have hidden menus and multiple button combination's for their controls. Also you can get great results with either the EMX-1 or the ESX-1.

  • Hey Ben, thanks for taking time out..much appreciated.

  • 909...

  • @GeeJayDavies

Honestly they are all good , it all depends where you want to start :)

  • Smooth!5Stars!plz check mine out to and let me know what you think.

  • how good is the machine when you run it as a slave device on midi?

  • @disconnect4 That's what I wanna know... I'm gonna be slaving this to my mpc... any word?

  • Ty jesteś po prostu zajebisty :D :)

    gz

  • ...bez przesady... :))

  • i would buy this song if it was available in a record store...great work!!!

  • wow, i have a 303 i have never seen that thing, that is a monster

  • got a few enviromental chill track i'd like u to hear.

  • how long patterns can be done with this one?? it sounds like 64steps..4bars am i wrong?

  • 32 bar long max in MC-505

  • piekne po protu.trafiasz w moje gusta

  • The bass that comes in around 1:40 is beautiful. It's a shame these are out of production--are the MC-808s as good?

  • Not sure what I was talking about there... I just bought an MC-303 by the way.

  • MC307 and D2 are based from MC505, but which of these 3 is best. I just want to get one. My main concern is for live play and a stand alone machine. simple setup is best.

  • Very good stuff!

  • And where are your music from your MC-505 ? I'd like to hear that.

  • serious, lets hear yout creations with this machine..i bet u can't do anything with it like this guy can POST YOUR MUSIC with this machine for us to critize

  • one of my best mates got one after he had a 303. hours and hours of fun. we're talking a good half decade ago+ ...this though on here is whack. each to their own.

  • I was wondering if I should get a 505 or 808. I am just starting out and want to use my macbook pro to make beats and find out if there is a way to use both together. Any advice and help is appreciated.

  • i have been asking around but i cant get a decent answer anywhere

    should i get a 505 or a 303?

  • neither!!! unless u dont give a shit about warm and good sounds(verry outdated) & dont want 2 expand in the future...samples & midi sucks on both machines

  • theyre ancient bro...get a monomachine, machinedrum and or an electribe. Far more possibilites for individual sound scultping

  • You are right BUT the 2 Elektron machines are very expensive (2000€+) and not comparable to the Roland "MCs". I had all the Roland, Yamaha and Korg grooveboxes. I liked the Electribe MX1 (VA+samples) most. Very great and affordable.

  • 303 was the classic, but 505 has all that the 303 had + a lot more. i'd go for a 505 without thinking.

  • I agree but i got the 303 now simply because 505's in good condition in the UK are alot harder to come by

i am thinking about getting an SP-808 sampler to go with it so i can make some proper sample filter house without using the PC at all

just for the Part mixer though the 505 is obviously much better

  • you took a little bit from "born slippy"

  • got my 505 for next to nothing from a bloke who never used it because of his low iq(!)..def a good piece of equipment if you learn to program it properly.wich is a bit of a hassle at first if you are used to a computer...but once you dig into it,it is capable of great sounds and hands-on capabilities.and you have six assignable outputs on it,wich opens up even more possibilities for tweaking.awesome!

  • you think the sounds are outdated like that moron said?

  • cool. I have a 505 also.

a weird synchronicity is my name is VanderEssen!

  • Ooo....Its fantastic, cosmos super .. very Good!

  • good stuff !

  • I like your music!

  • thanks :)

  • Thank you very much for your quality videos. Also your music is very relaxing.

  • how the hell did you do that???

    pure class mate.

  • That bass if sick!!! Podium live!!! I like the part where you switch it too!!! Decent!!!

  • cool 505 sounds, I got a 505 too... it rocks!!!

  • pure Roland sound....nice work. God, what would we do without the synth...............

  • I was gonna buy one of these in '98 but decided on the JX305 it's the same beast but designed around a keyboard. The 505 is meant for DJ types so it's a bit fiddly to lay down tracks quick. If you look on ebay you might grab a 305 for cheap. Buttons tend to go on them if they're used to "freestyle" but you can knock out a crazy tune in minutes.. beacoup geek fun!!!

  • yo dus any1 no if u can make a hole track on these machines and whats the best 1 to buy???

  • Are these stock sounds?

  • Like I said this is what this tools sound like in a hands of a real master. I just checked some other people creating their compositions on the MC-505, but boy listening to your music is like being 3 dimensional levels higher from every thing else. Great stuff my friend. Cheers ObeeLektro.

  • bloody great job

  • PlASE SOMEONE COULD TELL ME THE PRiCE OF 505? i've found some model but don't look like this one in the video!!!

    Thank you!!!

  • +- 800usd on ebay

  • hey i dont speak english . i got a mc 505 for sale..... if you want

  • Did you design each patch from the tone up, or are these mostly preset patches in the 505?

I notice the basslines you create with the 505 have a much cleaner, crisper sound than those on the 808. Just curious if you're designing your patches from scratch.

    Peace,

    Jim

  • Damn, you made that 505 sound great! Is that the internal reverb?!?

  • hi, thanks for comment

all sound and effects coming from MC-505

  • how beautiful... the machine responsible for such greats as "Fuck The Pain Away," "Slippery Dick," "Operate," and "Shake Yer Dix"

oh how i wish i could find a beat up old one for sale. heaven is where i'd be!!! though i'd settle for stumbling upon $1000 to just buy one outright. nice stuff dude.

  • I got mine for $250

  • Nice track...and nice live performance=)I use the MC-505 and a SP-606 sampler the MC-505 is a bit crispy but i like i anyway...i hav had 3 MC-303´s and 1 MC-505 in the past and everytime i sell it i miss i a lot so now i am stuck with my MC-505;)

  • 水着

  • i use to have an MC 307, but have moved on to korg electribe esx1 sampler at the moment and have used a mpc once or twice...and love em....but, there all good in different ways, the one thing i will say about the rolland grooveboxes is that they have a strong synth engine in them!, for grooveboxes, as weel as a heaps of arpegiator choices....

  • really i prefer the MPC from Akai. Cuz this Roland Grooveboxes have these clean Hi-Fi Sound. Anyway u make a nice ambiet track there, therefore u get 4 stars ;)

  • soundscool, ambient

  • Beautiful track, has a real ambience to it

  • I am looking to buy an Mc-303 groovebox. I have never used anything like this before, is this a good piece of equipment to start upon? I know they are are £100, $150 ish, is that the right price on E-bay?

Although, as it is electric, it'd be far easier to buy it new and with a warranty, but where can i buy one new, or one similar new, at the £100 - £150 price range? HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks.

  • the mc's are agreat learning tool. I tried learning to make electronic music on soft sequencers, and I couldn't get anywhere. The mc's make it so easy to learn. I say start with a 505 tho rather than a 303. The 303 is very limited. At first it's gunna sound really bad (the presets) but eventually you will learn to create your own and see how awesome the 505 is. I got mine for 300 bux used about 4 years ago.

  • gear is for old people ?

u say that like it's a bad thing!

well then, laptops are for fetuses ... lol!!

  • wats makin the nice fat bass sounds ...is that the 505?

and can u create ur own drum hits on the 505?

  • yes, all sounds from MC-505 :)

  • cool cheers!

  • This shit is amazing!

  • nice! I have the 505 too and it's taken a long time to really get into it's potential. It's a great old box. I'll post a 505 video when I get some time. I'm really into the drum sounds I'm getting out of it these days..

  • please help me out here. i have this thing and i have no clue how to use it. Can u give me some pointers?

  • Read the manual? It isn't used just for packing material.

    BTw, nice one GrooveProject!

  • ok ,, i'm with you. I do have the manual. OR rather i did. However. all i wanted to do was make a loop and the manual doesn't say.. Here's how u make a loop they tell me about arpegios and other shit that i have no clue about. Here's my message for everyone. Don't waste your time. Buy a good computer. gear is for old people.

  • The quick start tells you how to make a pattern. The manual tells you how to make several patterns and connect them very early on. Patterns automatically "loop".

I'm glad you have dismissed hardware synthesis on the basis of ten seconds glancing at a manual for a pretty unusual piece of gear.

  • LaCK Of good bass otherwise this grooveboxes have great drumlines.Me self have 307,it is better than 505 hehe

  • Nah, it'sn't. :) (505 and 909 here)

  • No it isnt. The 307 sucks balls.

  • Also the proud owner of a 505, definately better than the 307. Though I have the concede getting a convincing bassline/lead out of the grooveboxes is a challenge.

  • What is a lead? I'm sorry I'm not really sure what that is.

  • When an instrumental part is the most prominent in an arrangement, it is leading the rest of the tune.

What I meant was I find the 505 does not have a very strong bass sound when the bass is either played on its own or as the main part of a song.. it sounds very flat (as compared to an actual analague synth)

  • Hmmm. Thanks man.

  • you're right. i love the 505, but it sucks with basses. all the mc's are like that. even the 808. I wish they would make an mc with V.A., but that won't ever happen.

  • I realy like this one it has a very nice mood to it
