  • This game was so good, I tried it once and always wanted to finish it. I would love to play it again, a version that won't crash.

  • @Brennafugg I know of only 1 place that has a perfect Questron ROM. It's @ gb64 dot com. It runs perfectly on the VICE emulator. If you want to play it but you don't know how to use VICE, I am willing & able to help you with any & all emulation problems. Just let me know.

  • can you emulate this game?

  • @Brennafugg YES. I play it all the time with VICE emulator. It runs perfectly.

  • Questron, C64 ver. for the WIN!

I played this one all the way through long, long ago, and to this day even now, it remains high among the greatest Single-Player computer-games, I've ever played! hehehe

  • Yahweh knows this game.

  • This really needs a longplay. Not some lame three minute video in poor resolution, with an intro lasting over 30 seconds to boot.

  • @ForcedToSignUp

Agreed. This was the first C64 game that held my attention for more time than it took to dload it from a BBS.

  • if I remember some of the dungeons were in first person perspective

  • @KevinCarey Not some. All.

  • Yea ya could. at is how I would get $billions of gold & buy mega-hit points galore. Great game! I still play it from time to time on Apple 2 & Commodore 64 emulators.

  • @Blockygraphics

Yes, I did some of the gamble/save.

But out of all of the casino games, roulette was THE game to play in Questron. It was the only game that allowed you a chance to win 25 times the amount that you bet, if you hit on your chosen number. You could just keep playing roulette over and over again, occasionally hitting on your number, and you would soon end up with far more gold than you would ever need in the game.

  • One of my favorite games.

I used to rack up so much gold in roulette, the C64 couldn't even display the complete number. It had to display the first few numbers, and then a +XX (where XX = number of extra zeros to add to the end)

I think it might have been in the trillions.

  • LOL! Same here! Except I played Black Jack. I would save the game B4/After each hand. I had $billions! Then I bought hit points galore! I still play & love this game. It was my 1st RPG. Except now I play it on a VICE Emulator. You can save the game right b4 spinning the roulette wheel, see which number hits, reload the game & bet on that number. I also have a few other great tips for the game like how to make time fly to get better armor/weapons (emulator version only). I love the C64!

I am using the Vice emulator myself, and I can't get it to work. I try and load up the game, and when it starts to load my character, it will tell me to insert disk 2 and hit enter. I try and switch the image to side 2, but it still resets to the original blue screen. Could you provide any help with that, please? I only ask since it seems like you have gotten it to work.

  • @Xanthmans YES! I will definitely help you! Not only can I help you....but I would really enjoy helping you. I love helping people with emulator problems. :o) I know exactly what the problem is & what you are doing wrong. The solution is extremely simple. I will go to your inbox & then write you detailed, step by step instructions on how to get the game to work properly. This method is necessary for & will work with any & all C64 games that require multiple disks/changes.

  • @gjc82071

You are awesome. :) Thank you. Did you want more details?

I am not sure if it is my emulator or the roms. I have downloaded multiples of each (Emulators I have ccs and Vice, I have 3 copies of the game from different sources). I found 1 copy that will let me play, but whenever I use the fight command outdoors, I get kicked. The other 2 have the issue I referenced before.

  • @Xanthmans Nope. I don't need more details. I am almost positive that I know exactly what the problem is. I believe I have remedied both your ROM & Emulation problems. The solution is now in your inbox. BTW, I also had problems with many Questron ROMS. I have found only 1 that works 100%. I gave you a link to it in the message. The fight command issue might be a controller/key settings issue. We can address that later if necessary. Let me know if everything works.

  • I actually mapped out this whole game including the dungeons...lol

  • My favorite game of all time. I used to love getting the guards to chase me.

  • Me too! My 1st & favorite RPG game!
