  • Hi ladies I just wanted to ask a question. Is the sitan suposed to be gummy and hard to chew? Before cooking it I cut it into slices amb then fried it in olive oil. I don't know if I cooked it well, but the slices were thin..there was a bit of air and they made a kind of crust that was difficult to chew too. How do you dry the gluten after making it? Thanks!

    no reason to, whole wheat flour contains

    more bran and nutrients from the husk of

    the grains. If you make seitan from whole

    wheat flour all of that get washed out: the

    fibers, the brain, the starches, the husk,

    the germ. All you get is gluten and the gluten

    from white flour and gluten from whole wheat

    flour is exactly the same.

  • ....you're simply allergic, which sucks, but not everyone is. You can say the same about pretty much every other substance.

    If gluten was that bad for everyone, all around the world a lot of people were constantly sick, since it's contained in a looot of plants.

  • No you don't have to use salt to make gluten. Mine is always has no salt added due to CHF issues in the family.
