  • can't wait to start flying these old birds.. hope they stay in the fleet for a while

  • I miss the P-3's at Moffett field.

  • Love it, great video!

I live just up the road from where this was taken, I missed most of the airshow, but made it home from work in time to see the F-18s. From the roof of my house I had an excellent view! The F-18 flew directly over my house, maybe 50ft above me, going vertical, I could see right the fiery glow up its exhausts VERY clearly!

    NICE ONE!

  • Worked with the RNZAF for many years when I was in the RAAF. They are great people and will always be our friend and neighbour.

  • @maxyoz thanks for the post, I know we have a great relationship. whenever there is an airshow here Australia always supports us. My other videos feature one of two f-18 jets which were here for the event. Americas C17 too... great nations, great people.

  • Love the P-3. I once saw 350 kts on the clock during a freebee pass at the mine range in Bermuda. I know it doesn't sound like much but when your used to loafing along at 180 or so during ASW or surveilance patrols that pass was impressive. AW, VP-31, VP-17, VP-9, VP-94 1970 through 1990. 4000 hours in the A, B, And C versions. Had bags of fun.

    Thanks for the vid man.

  • @mightaswellbe Nice one, thanks for the comments.

  • Damn...He was hauling ASS!

  • awwwwwwwwww soo sad inferior rnzaf :(

  • @melvings we are part of the coallition of the willing...... remember? we do what we need to and we have all the support we need in any situation. only takes 18 minutes from oz to here in any of their jets. our forces are their forces. Trust me, we arent "inferior". in the "real world" we get all the "equipment" we need.

  • Yes our Air Force has the right amount of equipment which is sufficient enough to be content with the capabilities our defense force as a nation. If New Zealand was expected to be able to wage full warfare without the help of other nations we would have a lot more superior equipment. But I still love NZ :) @choppersilver

  • I'm givin her all she's got captain! LOL VP-31, 91-92

  • Its real. Its at Whenuapai Airbase in New Zealand.

  • sorry but that is not full speed. they are so old they can not do full speed or the pilot can cripple the lane

  • This is a New Zealand P3. All our P3's have new wings and horizontal stabilzers which mean we can still fly them upto their 405kt Vne at sea level. This was probably around 380kias at the time as it was a practice for an airshow.

  • NEET!! I was unaware of any successful modifications to them. thanks for the info. Nice to know they'll be around a lil longer then. The last one at the base i live by leavs november 5th and the base closes after that... i will miss the sounds. nothing sounds or smells like a P3

  • the last two P-3's at my base just left the 28th, sad day.

  • BNAS huh? I am so sad to see that base close. every time i go in ans know in a few months it'll never be the same. knowing it'll never be preserved makes me want to cry. last naval base in new england just lost ists last line of defense

  • Yea it is terrible. All we hear know for airplanes are huge cargo planes taking stuff away from the base as it continues to shut down. I made a video of the last P-3's leaving if you want to check that out.

  • Nice!
