Thats is a ridiculous comment to make. I am very much a patriot, having served my country with scars to prove it and am every bit as concerned about my country as you are, and I am adamantly opposed to the government printing ANOTHER TRILLION DOLLARS we don't have. Which is exactly what Obama has already stated it would cost. Which I must remind you would be on top the already 1.7+ trillion $ deficit just for this year. Its 3 times higher than the highest dsingle year deficit we've ever run!
yeah, ur right. let people suffer & die. it's just too expensive to help them. luckily we got ours, eh? ;-)
while we're at it we could also cut the deficit by euthanizing those sick uninsured people & selling their organs to the rich. I'm sure there r other cruel & heartless ways to lower that pesky deficit. perhaps u have a list already drawn up?
ethical imperatives r not "optional"!
the scope of NEEDLESS suffering is too immense.
it's not 'deficit vs healthcare' - it's 'profit vs humanity'!
@baronmorris I know this is a year down the pipe. Never-the-less, I am neither rich nor do I profit from anything involved. It is stupid and absurd to imply that I am drawing up plans to kill people off to lower the deficit. Learn to discuss a legitimate point.
But the fact is you can help no one if you simply run out of the cash to do so. We are teetering on complete bankrupcy as nation. Our government must stop spending money we do not have, regardless of how good the intent.
then cut the exhorbitant defense department instead. the military industrial complex is way out of hand, just as Eisenhower warned it would be in his farewell Presidential address.
almost every other post-industrial nation on earth has some form of guaranteed health care for its citizens. we are behind the curve, as the WHO health statistics show.
besides, lives are more important than money. if u can't see that then sadly u have Stockholme Syndrome. regardless, good luck to u.
@baronmorris Cutting defence is easy to say to do, but much harder in reality. Look up the percentage of the U.N.'s peace keeping missions that we bare the burden on.
And most of those post-industrial nations are very near absolute bankrupcy. What good will universal health care do to anyone if the gov't providing it fails? Greece and Spain are just the beginning you cannot spend more than you produce, If you cannot see that you clearly have no reasoning skills. But I wish you luck as well.
@baronmorris I don't think anyone is saying that this is right! But what is neared is legislation and updated laws, not a government take over. Look at the Postal Service. A buracracy cannot effectively run a business. And like it or not it is business in the senses of R&D and logistics, etc.
But you are right that those things you are listing are atrocities. But you advocate finacial failure.
It is your right as an american to complain about the financial situation of your country. But do you choose to do nothing to solve this problem or educate yourself on ways that health care can be paid for (less military funding, less wars)? Your countrymen are aware of the deficit, are you aware of the remedy?
