Mo Farah went some way to banishing his Beijing blues by winning the Great North Mile in Newcastle.
Farah showed an impressive turn of pace to cross the line in 4min 12sec and admitted that he was still struggling to come to terms with his failure to reach the 5,000m final at the Olympics.
Mo is Mohamed for short and there is nothing wrong with that. Britain's lack of depth in middle and long distance appalled many and Mo didnt do well in Beijing as he was the only athlete in the long distance. He was very disappointed and ran a very poor race but BBC pundit and 1976 Olympic bronze medalist at 10,000m Brendan Foster made a scathing attack on UK Athletics and said "they must take examples from other sports such as sailing, rowing, and cycling".
Mo farah was excellent today winning the 3km Road Race in Newcastle, beating Kenya's Kipchoge. Farah biding his time until 150 metres from the finish line, stormed past Kenya's 2003 World gold and 2007 World silver 5000m track medallist Eliud Kipchoge to claim victory in a time of 7:56.3. Well done Mo farah.

Athletics: Farah makes world top 10 as Bekele wilts in the heat
By Mike Rowbottom

Britain's Mo Farah produced arguably his finest performance in Mombasa on Saturday, finishing 10th in the World Cross Country Championships in stifling conditions which caused Kenenisa Bekele, seeking a record sixth individual win, to pull out of the race with just 800 metres remaining.
Mo Farah's 10th place finish and a host of good British performances at the World Cross-Country Championships in Mombasa have been hailed as "inspirational" by the head of distance running at UK Athletics
Farah coped well with temperatures of 37c degrees in the shade and 80% humidity.
The reigning European cross-country champion led the men's team to eighth position on a day of big surprises with Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele and Tirunesh Dibaba both failing to defend their titles.
Mo Farah enhanced his reputation by finishing 10th and as the first European competitor in Saturday's IAAF World Cross-Country Championships in Mombasa

MO FARAH has allayed the considerable fears that he was set to be a high profile absentee from this weekend's World Cross Country Championships by returning to full training following his recent ailments.
The Newham & Essex Beagles star was not only feeling the after-effects of his troublesome tilt at the European indoor 3000m title in which he injured his hip and calf in a fall but he was also suffering from a virus.
But last summer's European 5000 metres silver medallist realises his ambitions may have been compromised by a couple of unexpected interruptions to his preparations.
First, his fall in a 3000m heat at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham a fortnight ago left him with a sore hip and calf.
European cross-country champion Mo Farah is determined to lead the Great Britain team at next weekend's World Cross-Country Championships despite injury and illness setbacks.
Farah believes the championships taking place in Mombasa will give him an indication of where he stands in his ambition to emulate Paula Radcliffe and catch Africa's leading endurance runners.
After finishing fifth in the 3,000m on Saturday, Farah is stepping up his preparations for the World Cross Country Championships.
"I'm looking forward to getting out there and getting away from what happened in Birmingham," Farah said. "I'm disappointed, I know the Worlds will be hard work for me, but I have to do this."
Farah, one of the favourites to take the gold medal, only managed to reach the final as a fastest loser after being tripped in his heat.
Not only did Farah go flying, when he climbed back onto his feet he did not know where he was and started running the wrong way down the back straight.
Amazingly, Farah, who was 30m adrift when he started running the right way, made up so much ground from the back of the field that he qualified as a fastest loser.
It was always going to be tough for European Cross Country champion Farah in the final of the 3,000m after his fall the day before and so it proved.
After leading early on, Farah faded to fifth (8:03.50). He was running with a sore hip and stiff calf after taking a heavy fall in the previous day's heats.
"I was trying to stay out of trouble because I knew the pace was not too quick," said Farah.
