2:47 YouTube video: Walter Herbert conducting an excerpt from Faust, with Frances Yeend, Richard Cassilly, and Norman Treigle; with the Houston Symphony (1957)
February 18, 1902: birth of Walter Herbert, German-born conductor
Should have added that I've always responded very emotionally and viscerally to this trio. Given good singers (they don't have to be great), it almost always makes my spine tingle and often makes me weep:) --

This old recording is much kinder to the voice of Yeend than Cassilly.
Used to have an excellent recording of La Juive w/ Yeend back in the LP
record days. You can find some of her recordings on Arkiv and The Opera
Lovers.
Tnx 4 the melodic post.

Three fine singing artists, each in excellent form. Also a nice excerpt from Richard Cassily's pre-heldentenor days --
