I think Ian Williams did great work, and I love his music, but all this hype about them being a 'cover' band is dumb. Their new guitarist from Creta Bourzia is a much more consistent player.
It's *really* hard to say what their best is. Obviously all just opinions. My favorite is American Don. I don't know if I'd call it their best as some of the other ones stretch in many more directions and have really mind-blowing parts in terms of their complexity. The thing I like most about American Don is how dense some of the songs can be, yet every sound seems to fill the right void and it all comes together so beautifully. Plus I like the S&S Ian best, which American Don has more of.
its called leverage, when your almost 6'4 you kind of need it. Also, as you can see Damon has a style all his own, every drummer has a different set-up. Damon has been playin his snare low since Half Life.
damon che was a huge part of Don Cab, he is basically the backbone of the band because one of the reason's the band is so great is their rhythms. They go through such complex rhythmical structures and that isn't possible without a ridiculous drummer
seriously, why even bother calling the band don cab anymore? 1 of the 4 original members and he's the drummer. it's not like he even wrote those guitar lines. whack
I'm in this camp as well. I feel like Damon Che is a tremendous drummer and vital to the Don Cab we all love, but is too highly revered shouldn't have continued the band. Although, I guess I'm sort of a hypocrite, as the next chance I get to see them, I will go, if only to hear these songs. I don't like the new album very much.
They all were. Gene said he had been drinking a lot of vodka & coke, so the guy sitting on the stage next to me (who was already too wasted to stand, really) somehow made his way back to the bar and got another vodka & coke for Gene. He was holding it up to him in the middle of one of the songs and Gene grabbed it at the next break there was.
Fuck year Octopus Che.

when was ian williams in don cab? i thought he played all the stuff on american don
charlieonehorse 2 years ago
Ian was in the band from 1992 - 2000. Yes, he played all the stuff on American Don. This is the "new" Don Cab essentially covering old material.

Yeah.. using the name to bring in fans is sorta lame. Just make a new band...
Old Don Cab just had a synergy that I don't get from this stuff.
