Man. I've been looking for a new muffler and exhaust for my 150cc GY6 scooter engine and all I can find are systems that are outrageously expensive. I got my scooter BRAND NEW, still in the crate, for only $600, (plus $200 for shipping). It would kill me to spend more than a hundred bucks just for another exhaust system. I found a new header pipe for under $40 but no luck in finding a reasonably priced muffler.

Since mufflers are rather simple, making one seems like the way to go.

we don't even need a vid just explain on if whether you removed the insulation or if it was stainless lined there are number of really cheap thermos bottles on ebay. other than that you just Drill,Cut,and Weld in the appropriate places or fashion a flange and drill and tap holes for studs welding will give you a better gas seal. If you can look on e-bay and give us an idea which ones will work. there are a few that you look like yours.

Yes it was a stainless steel liner inside.I just cut the bottom of the outer layer to get to the inner liner.

How did you manage to make an exhaust out of a thermos?

It's a stainless steel thermos.i cut the bottom out to get the inner part of the thermos.Then used the stock exhuast gasket to mark of the wholes that i needed to drill out.Then put on some bolts and your ready to go.

Sounds like it going to a fun project.

I used the exsisting exhaust gasket for a template.I cut the bottom of the thermos to get to the inner bottom.Then place the gasket to mark the holes that i needed to drill.Bolt on and go.
