  • When I first heard this song, I was honestly a little spooked.haha. cos the girl sang it very hauntingly beautiful. It felt really sad, like she's stuck in the castle or something. Well I was just quite young then :)

  • The weird thing is, my name is really Cosette.....i think i belong on Broadway!!!!(no really my name is Cosette)

  • i seen the west end version on video

but don't remember who sings it and never seen it getting sung

was it young cosette or Éponine

  • who ever this girl is she sounds good, maybe a little bit french, if my memory serves me and it usally does this was from the original cast soundtrack so she will be grown up now

  • I love this song so, so much, such a beautiful and yet tragic song of a little girl who has never really known love. Well, I love you, Cosette :)

  • This version is one of the best IMO - the young and slightly quavering voice is perfect and manages to hit the low note really nicely. She sounds young and frail - yet does it so well

  • we sang this song in middle school chorus...it has stayed with me.

  • @XxxxpRiNcE12xxxX hahha that sucks

  • i'm not sure about the play but in the book Cosette is left with thedien (inn keeper) after fantine (cosette's mother) leaves her in hope of giving her daughter a better life. instead the bar keeper treats her poorly and makes her work hard.

i wish we did a play of this. we did little mermaid. hardly the same

  • thank u...really touching 4me..thanks

  • this girl in my school is an amazing singer and she sang this in primary and we all ended up crying she was so good, we then watched the video play thing and it was sad, the songs were very good (YY) x

  • cool what school do you got to?

  • oh my gosh i love A Ewan McGregor too.....anyways....i love this song....i've been tryin' to find a video of this song without the picture moving...so anyways it's great...thanks

  • Favorite song to sing in the whole medley. :D its so AWSOME!

  • Thanks for putting this up! I've sent it to my sister, she adores it. Added it to my playlist as well; I believe that all of us have our own 'Castle on a Cloud.' :)

  • that is sooooo beautiful i have to practice it for a chior audittion, and geez does she hold the longets notes or what!!? well, i got light headed after singing it 10 times!

  • does anyone know where i can find the score for this, for like free, off the internet??

  • i get to do this song for my show choir audition!

  • i know nothing about the movie, but it sound very sad. what's the girl's (in the play) story?

  • Its not a movie but a musical. The girls name is Cosette. I think thats how you spell it :)

  • yep thats right. good video :)

  • @EwanMcgregorFan89 I've heared there is a movie in the pipe line

  • Her story is that she works for this bar or whatever (I'm not entirely sure my music teacher told me this and I'm not sure if I remember it correctly ) and Madam she is force to sweep the floors and clean tables and stuff and people yell alot and get drunk so it's really sad

  • @DifferentChaos123 The story was her father abandoned them. Fatine (her mother) sent her away to live with an innkeeper when she works to pay for her. Fatine was afraid that everyone found out that she got pregnant before she was married. Valjean (protagonist) is an ex-convict who broke his parole, not knowingly fired Fantine put her Cosette in jeopardy because the innkeeper demand for more money. Fatine then passed away. Valjean was touched and took in her as his child. There's more to this.

  • Love this song, reminds me of music school.

  • I'm so excited that I get to play Cosette this year. I've never gotten a lead part and now I get one that sings!! Wish me luck on may 27th[:

  • I like this song very much, just as much as I like the story! =]

But personally,I like Do You Hear The People Sing a bit more than this.

  • I love this song. I remember back in Primary school, my music teacher introduced this song to us. I still remember and loved this song til this day. A place where everyone yearns to go. A Beautiful song.

Would you be willing to allow me to embed this on my blog? : )

  • I love this song! I was wondering if you know who the singer? Thanks!

  • Um sorry im not sure. It says on the cd case but i cant find it at the mo, lost it lol. Im sure somewhere on the internet it would say. Just put in something like "Les mis original london cast cd" :)

  • Her name is Hannah Chick . Isn't it lovely?

I know this is a really late response though =)

  • If it's the Original broadway cast then supposedly it's Donna Vivino, I think.

  • Donna Vivino is the original Young Cosette in the OBC of Les Miz. This recording is not Donna. This actress has a British accent. It may be Zoe Hart, the original Young Cosette in the West End production.

  • yup. this is the original london cast, i have the cd

  • @711luvAquaatmall No, it's the original West End cast. :)

  • @Tredgirl23 I think it's Donna Vivino...if it's the original cast recording.

  • I'm learning to play this song on piano right now! =) I was never a huge theater fan, but I love this play, especially this song.

  • this song is AMAZING!! thanks for putting it to a video and for putting the lyrics in the description.

  • Thanks im glad you liked it :)

  • I love this song so much <3 Is it just me or does this song sound like a song the orphans from Annie would be singing? xD

  • Yes i can see where your coming from. :) Im not a big fan of Annie to be honest. Its not crap but its not brilliant. Just ok.

  • Probably my favoirite musical and definitely on of the best songs out of it so on the whole, I love this!

  • i'm doing this song in music atm and my music teacher was saying that when she went to see the musical she cried her eyes out and her husband refuses to go with her anymore because she cries so much.

This is a really touching song.

I almost cried the first time i heard it :(
