I was in the audience and as I recall, it was a Saturday afternoon and the song was scheduled for release the following Monday. Here was this guy beating on a bell and I was thinking, WTF? I began texting some friends back in Philadelphia and got replies like, "oh yeah, that's Coldplay". In spite of what the viewers' impressions are of the audience, it was a great performance.
I remember seeing this live for the first time streaming from MTV's website! I remember James Franco and Seth Rogen lighting a joint earlier in the show, and then seeing this masterpiece. Nobody knew just how big of a hit this was going to be. An absolutely magical and timeless classic.
When i first heard this song i really thought oh its ok not to great but after yrs of hearing one of the most badass best songs from coldplay by far COLDPLAY keep the great songs coming becuz i will be here to listen them til i die.
retarded audience ... I wouldn't expect chris to jump and and dance over the platform like always coz of these motionless objects in front of him ... if I were there, I would've been jumping up and going crazy even if I was the only one
@Tywonneakatywonne You would honeslty compare Coldplay to The Beatles are u high i mean i liek coldplay but there no where near the greatest band on earth not even close
@Tywonneakatywonne wow it took u this long to think of a comeback u fucking suck must be gentics? cause your whore of a mom should have swallowed your dumb ass
This wasn't the best performance vocally. It actually sucked to be honest. I know this cat could of done better, maybe his voice was giving him issues prior to this. He has sounded really good live in other occasions.
People in the audience need to be on their feet! Good god, feel something you robots! No shame in dancing and letting the sounds move your body! Its a freeing experience to not care what everyone thinks of you if you stand up and enjoy yourself! If anything they will join you!
@FelixMarshall1 The crowd didn't having dancing software uploaded to their memory banks. They had mild happiness and excitement uploaded, though, hence the random cheers and applause. It was all moderated by their emotion suppressor hardware, however. It's hard work programming the drones of society you know. We can't have this many people expressing an exuberant amount of joy on national television. It's not part of "the plan" if you catch my drift (wink wink, nudge nudge).
@whalestail1955 Well I suppose if there was a time when I wasn't thinking then of course I wouldn't hear anything. That's just common sense. You can't hear what doesn't exist. However, I don't think that would ever happen unless I was dead. But I'm not dead. Sooooo, yeah...
Chris Martin performing his masterpiece in front of THE music audience for the first time live. It doesn't get any better. I think even he knew it was likely the climax of his musical career. He's almost in tears at the end when he's thanking them.
Compared to all other live performances, this was crap... no offence, I'm the biggest Coldplay fan you can meet, but they are soooo much better really.
i remeber hearing this at the end of 8th grade (im a tenth grader now) like 10 days before the actual album dropped and i was like not even a coldplay fan then i was like OMFG!!!!!! and now im like their #1 fan just becos of this performance!
hahaha well i can see how you would think Chris was drunk but its just the way he gets his energy out on stage...i remember a report on the news said he was..."at one point a anxious Chris...at the next a chaotic ball of energy waiting to knock something over." lol :D
i was there. chris seemed drunk but it was a really good performance. what the video doesn't show is that chris knocked over his keyboard on purpose - on his way to the mic about 3.15 in. probably just a cheap midi-thing but still cool to do at the stupid movie awards. gotta love coldplay.

@whalestail1955 Talk? How can I listen to myself talk when I'm not saying anything.
Cxaxakluth 6 months ago
@Cxaxakluth The same way you can't hear yourself think, when you aren't thinking anything?
whalestail1955 6 months ago
@whalestail1955 That would be pretty impressive if you could hear thoughts.

@whalestail1955 Certainly thats a metaphorical "you". Your actually referring to your own limitations.
