That's funny. Who'd of thought such an easy going tune like this would end up in a Tom & Jerry cartoon and The Godfather! On one hand you've got this cartoon for kids, (so violent!), and on the other hand you have this movie... Whoops, sorry to steer away from the review... Great performance of the song. Beautiful singing!

What a lovely song. This is a great definitive version. YouTube IS thee best site on the internet for moi. And yes, I recall this song as the scene transition song in The Godfather where the New York mob goes to Los Angeles to convince another crook to be good. And so his horse literally loses his head. Oof-Dah.
Stumbled across this video while looking for Godfather soundtrack stuff, and what a treat! Nice job, guys! A real pleasure hearing all five of you. Nice easy-going vibe. I wish you all great success!
@Godson19091 That would be "Mouse in Manhattan" —That remembrance and association of Louis Alter's 1928 composed melody notwithstanding, Manhattan Serenade is probably best known as the theme to the William Powell-Carole Lombard 1936 screwball comedy —"My Man Godfrey"...
I like this Manhattan Serenade video so much, I keep its Internet address posted in my MS Word notes (so that I can visit this YOU TUBE site whenever in the mood to hear it). Wish I had one of their CD albums. What's the name of the band?
well it took me a good seven months to find the name of this song, until somebody gave me tha name. it was a pleasant experiance to finally hear the song complete.
My son was watching Tom and Jerry this morning and I woke up hearing this song from the cartoon. It stuck in my head and I had to hunt it down. What a search, but I'm glad to have finally figured out the song name and finally found it here. Thanks.
My story is kind of similar. I watched the Godfather a couple of years ago, and suddenly got a flashback to watching tom and jerry cartoons as a little kid 15 years earlier. I had always liked the cartoon (but more or less forgotten about it) and when that song came up in the godfather I realised I also had to hunt it down.
That cartoon has created an image of a perfect manhattan which will last forever in my mind.
I have been searching for this song title for decades. In the late 50's thru the early 60's I heard this music in its orchestral (not big band) and symphonic composition and the music has stuck in my mind. I loved it and I have been looking for that record since then. Last night I discovered the title after watching a tape of The Godfather". Can anyone help?
wonderful

I love this song! Fine perform!
After Tommy Dorsey and Harry James, it seems no one record it or even sing it!!!

... and Heather Masse, what a talent, she is a reincarnation of those wonderful female singers of half a century ago.

Classic Piece! Loved the relaxed "jam-session" atmosphere. Made me feel like gabbing my Bass and play along.

Lovely arrangement. "Manhattan Serenade" is such a classy old number and this version has a wonderful swingy backbeat and a nice vocal. Loved it!

The more I watch this the more I enjoy it. The orchestrated version was one of my late father's all time favorites.
