  • Definitely has a 'Buddy Holly' sound to it.

  • @glorybra I agree...

  • Tommy Roe is my Grandmother's cousin!!

  • I was born in 1963 and I have to say that I love Tommy Roe and his songs. This coming from a girl who loves Hard rock and Metal music.

  • Buddy Holly influenced so many artists of this era

  • I used to think this was Buddy Holly.

  • 39 here on Nov 16, 2011.

  • On Sept 4, 1962

"Sheila" by Tommy Roe was the #1 song.

  • @gratheeus And this is important because ....?

  • @Alikah1 You honestly do not see the relevance?! Just passing on some info. Take it easy.

  • bonito los oldies

  • i believe this is the original, in any event, memories never leave us, at least the good ones!

  • i just realized, i knew a girl named sheila in '67. she was hawaian. and yes, she was beautiful.

  • @m1kewithaone And lemme guess, She left you when she seen how you spelled "Hawaiian" ? ...lol jk.

  • this is the good stuff

  • echoes of Buddy Holly

  • original Del Shannon version better:

    >watch?v=0GTNLp9Oe6s

  • @bil1026 Tommy Roe's version IS the original.

  • interesting how the mixed the drums. I tried to cover this in my bands over the years could never get the guys to do the backups which make the song unique. Great song.

they don't write em' like that anymore.

  • Stuck in my head all day and didn't even hear it for a while.... and I'm 23! Love this music!

  • Tommy Roe and the shondels... one hit wonder???? not hardly

  • @pookiesdilemma it was Tommy JAMES and the Shondells. Tommy Roe was a solo artist but neither was a one hit wonder

  • This song was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY ahead of its time.

  • An all time classic !

  • ...like a tribute

  • No, I really don't think Buddy Holly would be proud...in fact had he lived, a song like this wouldn't have been recorded. Tommy Roe clearly ripped off Buddy here and the song is almost identical to Peggy Sue. Even the chord changes and strumming copy Buddy's song bar for bar. Songs like this make me feel even worse that Feb 3, 1959 ever happened. Otherwise, Buddy Holly himself could have continued to entertain us with this kind of music instead of one-hit-wonder nobodies like Tommy Roe!

  • @RTAY58 I love Buddy Holly and I think he would be proud to know his style kept going on after he was gone. I bet he would LOVE this song!

  • buddy holly would be proud!

  • it isn't the original monkey face! the original is from buddy holly

  • @jasonramb Nope, but, this isn't the original either... in 1960 Tommy Roe released the song, but it wasnt a hit, 2 years later he recorded this updated version and it became a hit!

  • #255 greatest songs of the 60s

  • INÐEEÐ !..nothing beats THIS original version

  • @PAULLONDEN = not the original. The original was judd records either 59 or 60. Did not sell well. Not much different but his voice is higher. The guy who used to have it up must have taken it down because I can not find it.

  • @kenster1682 Alright then ...you could've fooled me,although, unlike those horrible 7T's rerecordings .this sounds rather listenable.

  • @kenster1682 Someone else has reposted it (The Judd version)

  • this is ma nans funeral song

  • one of my all time favorites

  • I love this song.

  • I can't believe it 48 years ago. Seems like yesterday. But great songs never die!

  • @JustAGuyNamedSteve1 I know - this used to be on AM radio !

  • im 32 and i love these oldies

  • @asisco1977, Im 15 and love these oldies! :D
