interesting how the mixed the drums. I tried to cover this in my bands over the years could never get the guys to do the backups which make the song unique. Great song.
No, I really don't think Buddy Holly would be proud...in fact had he lived, a song like this wouldn't have been recorded. Tommy Roe clearly ripped off Buddy here and the song is almost identical to Peggy Sue. Even the chord changes and strumming copy Buddy's song bar for bar. Songs like this make me feel even worse that Feb 3, 1959 ever happened. Otherwise, Buddy Holly himself could have continued to entertain us with this kind of music instead of one-hit-wonder nobodies like Tommy Roe!
@jasonramb Nope, but, this isn't the original either... in 1960 Tommy Roe released the song, but it wasnt a hit, 2 years later he recorded this updated version and it became a hit!
@PAULLONDEN = not the original. The original was judd records either 59 or 60. Did not sell well. Not much different but his voice is higher. The guy who used to have it up must have taken it down because I can not find it.
Definitely has a 'Buddy Holly' sound to it.
