If he was the top student, then why can't we see his grades? Why is it he never wrote a law review article? I think it used to be the case that the third year student with the highest GPA became law review editor. That is, until Obama came along and there was a big blowup over the small number of blacks on law review and they decided to make law review editor an elected position. So of course when Barack heard the word election his ears stood up.
He wasn't the top student, he was *one* of the top (magna/law review) and elected to President of the law review. Magna cum laude tells you he had an A average. What more do you need to know? His grades there can only demonstrate his intellectual ability, which is fully proven by his average, or, if you like, the degree itself.
Everything else we need to know about him we will need to look elsewhere to learn. Grades cannot tell us character, nor leadership skills, nor anything else

Being elected to the law review and graduating magna are academic achievements, but several dozen students achieve this each year. Daniel Slifkin won the Sear's prize Obama's year, which is the award given to the top GPA.
Does it matter? Being magna means he's smart, being pres means he's well liked.

If he was the top student, then why can't we see his grades? Why is it he never wrote a law review article? I think it used to be the case that the third year student with the highest GPA became law review editor. That is, until Obama came along and there was a big blowup over the small number of blacks on law review and they decided to make law review editor an elected position. So of course when Barack heard the word election his ears stood up.

He wasn't the top student, he was *one* of the top (magna/law review) and elected to President of the law review. Magna cum laude tells you he had an A average. What more do you need to know? His grades there can only demonstrate his intellectual ability, which is fully proven by his average, or, if you like, the degree itself.
Everything else we need to know about him we will need to look elsewhere to learn. Grades cannot tell us character, nor leadership skills, nor anything else

@tenhirankei I don't think Obama was doing the party-boy thing by the time he got to law school. He was in his late 20s by then. The stuff you're referring to has to do with his high school and lower-division (i.e., frosh-soph) college days and doesn't have much to do w/ his work in law school.
I have two Masters degrees and am working on my dissertation. I attend a top-25 rated university. I've been around plenty of high-achieving former party hounds. Nothing about Obama's trajectory is unique

I find no fault with the introductory clause which is simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that EVERY HUMAN BEING BORN within the jurisdiction of the United States OF PARENTS NOT OWING ALLEGIANCE TO ANY FOREIGN SOVEREIGNTY IS, in the language of your Constitution itself, A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
