Ah 1981,,those were the gold old days, when REAL music was recorded! Too bad Phil injured his neck, and can't play drums anymore, these guys were the best in their prime!
@fredouwens Its not fair... i was born too late to see Genesis live... i have already seen Yes and Peter Gabriel (as my favourite 70s progressive band) and i will never see Genesis. BTW, i will never see Pink Floyd, but right now it doesnt matter as much as this :( :(
@SPeacock I did not. I live in Argentina :( I think the only thing i regret of living in South America is missing this kind of events. During the W&W tour they came to Brazil. That was the nearest they ever got to Argentina, and i wasn't even born!
@joshuarice- yes!! it's a Zappa riff-- Chester Thompson and Ralph Humphrey on Roxy and Elsewhere- used to use the same riff when I double drummed with a (believe it or not) a southern rock band back in the 70's-
My all time favorite live album and Genesis album..thanks so much for sharing the live footage of this..1st time I've ever seen it and it still gives me chills..what majesty and artistry.
Three Sides Live was the theme music with the big youth group I ran in the early 1980s. They are all middle aged now and listening to Radio 2. What heart warming and heart breaking memories.
Ha! That drum fill at 5:07 was a blatant copy of a fill from a Zappa song. Trouble Everyday! Chester used to play the same fill in that song with Zappa!
I wonder if the segue from Slippermen to Afterglow was something cooked up in live rehearsals with Chester and Daryl, after all they are great jazz musicians. It's a real shame that the trio phil Mike and Tony didn't do one album with Daryl and Chester co-writing and do some real great musical blowouts. It was a missed opportunity. Still, we have plentty to so at don't we?
@TheOmanJam In my opinion - Best tour: Tie between 1977 Wind and Wuthering tour, 1980 Duke tour, and 2007 reunion tour. Worst tour: Tie between 1992 We Can't Dance tour and 1998 Calling All Stations tour. (I like all Genesis frontmen - PG, PC and RW)
I remember when I first bought 3SL and listened to this medley .......I was mesmerized ,I mean what a musical journey these guys ran me through for 15 minutes or so...ending with Afterglow a song of which to this day 25 years since I first heard it still gives me chills ......I love it now just as much as I did then....

@labora4best never...and i mean NEVER!...buy into tommygun's scam. thats right, its a scam. he is ILLEGALLY selling unofficial material for HIS OWN financial gain. None of the money he makes is given to the band which makes that completely ILLEGAL because he is making money off of the band's anchivements. You can get EVERYTHING he is selling for FREE. just google "Torrent genesis movement" and you'll find all of the stuff he sells for HIGHER QUALITY than tommygun has ever put out...
@PhilGenesisDB Joining genesis-movement is not just for videos, you can also track down just about any Genesis concert, as well as each member's solo career audio tracks. They have their own rules and regulations however slight, but they are also working WITH Genesis and their management in an effort to stop the illegal trading of copyrighted works (So you won't find the "Three Sides Live" video there) but you will find other quality recordings and videos.
@PhilGenesisDB Poor Genesis and Virgin, not getting financial reward from Tommy Gun - It'll be a tough christmas for them, I'm sure. Torrent Genesis movement is just as illegal in a court of law
@LCPStud Actually, technically the torrents i speak of are completely legal. Make the google search mentioned and read the FAQ on the first site that comes up. It should be pretty clear. Please, next time, lets try to act like adults and not call someone out on something instead of just asking them a simple question.
This show brings back so many memories. Hard to believe it was that long ago because it seems like yesterday. Oh and a shirtless Phil, well, it was just heaven. I LOVE Genesis.
@julyvalls i remember this show like it was yesterday. i was in the mosh pit for two shows in this tour. try to be there. i still can't put words to it. oh yes i can, i wish i could go back to that tour and be there again and again

mark kelly is the best at the boards. Too bad Phil said he was the only one writing and then went on to sell out to the Top 40 crowd. I can't dance???? WTF
Tony Banks never seems to show much emotion when playing. Always cool and laid back. But man does he let his fingers do the talking! No one plays the synth like him and can stay cool and collected. Tony is the God of keyboards!!!!!
Listen to Michael Tsarion on the youtube. He is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecdturer/author. Leo Zagami and Dr. Bill Deagle are highly informative and very comprehensive as well.
@ExJob2222 Too complex and creative for a game like that. The songs in it are meant to be possible to be played with all the feeling and virtuosity of the original. Except the Rush songs, which even Rush themselves fail on Rock Band.
Not that the games were bad, but Genesis' songs don't fit their context.
Too bad the song has to break into 2 parts. Same thing happens on my mp3 player. CDs and DVDs are great for many things, but burning live recordings is not one of them.
this is one of best ever display of vintage GENESIS ...HQ...WE NEED THIS DVD..OR WHATEVER...HOW CAN WE BUY IT..PLEASE THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS JEWEL...ASAP....
This may be "Genesis Lite", but it's still miles ahead of ANYTHING on heavy rotation these days. Phil and Chester play as twin sons of different mothers. A REAL stage show, without pre-recorded tracks to cover zero talent. Jeez, Rutherford's back must've ached after these shows with that double-neck. Banks' brilliant work, with Darryl playing all off the essential Hackett parts. Thanks for the video !!! Peace:-)
