I remember this song in the 80's a electronics store was playing this song on the big laser disc with fantastic scenery to go with this song. I been a fan ever since.
When I first heard this group in the 80's, I ran out and bought the CD. I used so much that I worn the CD out. I bought a new one it still sounds as fresh as the day I heard it in the 80's.
@butchchase it's almost like, a "round"... (the beginning parts anyways...) but the bass also has a kind of percussive purpose, as in a lot of R & B and jazz... whereas I think the koto doesn't really have that so they don't overshine each other... they're both distinct.
@bentstrider I wasn't aware of the music of Hiroshima 25 years ago either, but I'm glad that I know of them now. It's the kind of music that you wish would come from Japan.
@lenardodivinci I used to hear One Wish and 1000 Cranes on the radio all the time in '86. Esp. One Wish, which always brings back memories of my new car and my fun little daughter who was 4 yrs old. One Wish and '86, forever connected.
i will say this this group has great music yes they were born here in the usa but there roots and familes go back to japan cant even enjoy music without some stupid ass bring politics int the comments u all want to tal about war lets talk about some where else thanks for upload
MUSIC - is such a powerful and mystical force in our universe and is celebrated throughout the entire world in every language, country, culture, religion, age group, race, creed and color. I could not ever imagine and would not want to live in a world without MUSIC. (COULD YOU???)
@Toyman07 In defense of amlo20121, I feel he/she has a right to express his/her opinion. I just wonder where their anger is coming from and where they gets their information. I don't claim that the U.S. is perfect, but with all it's faults it's still better than most countries......now if we can just do something about Justin Bieber........
@lenardodivinci The USA is definitely better than all the countries that it economically rapes. And better than Egypt, whose dictator the us had supported since at least the '80s. And better than Iran, whose democratically elected govt the us overthrew in '53, then installed dictators to rape the iranians until 1979, when iran evicted the u.s.'s' puppet dictator. / So you want to overthrow Justin Bieber, now? (That part was supposed to be funny.) / Thanks for the song L.D.!
@AliYourBrother I imagine you're probably writing this from somewhere here in the U.S. or from someplace that is/was funded by the U.S.. So I can only surmise that you're presenting your case of rape on the behalf of our oil companies and leaders of big business. Thanks for supporting Justin Bieber and for having such a cheerful view of the world
@lenardodivinci Yes, my people have been in the usa since slavery, which began here in the land of the free in 1619. I'll never be able to trace my lineage or find out my real last name, which was/lost somewhere in us history. But then, you probably know about that. Oil companies? Big business? You lost me there./ Thanks for the beautiful song. I put it on my a few days ago. Brings back beautiful memories of '86. God bless all the time!
@amlo20121 (s). Yes, this weapon gives no one a true victory, but it prevented prolonged bloodshed and moved Japan to becoming one of our allies. War between nations because of land, wealth and different religions is the legacy that man promotes. So, back to the original path of this idea is why you would choose to cloud this comment board with anger instead of appreciating Hiroshima’s beautiful music and the serene pictures I put in my video.
@amlo20121 Though I appreciate your passion, I don’t understand where your anger is coming from. Perspective about world events is clouded by governments and their news reporting. Every event always has more than one side of the story. Japan had a considerable military force at that time and they weren’t afraid to show it. The Invasion of China and subsequent countries and islands, as that war evolved into World War 2, prompted the decision to end the war quickly by dropping the atomic bomb
The american goverment should be bending everytime they hear the word HIROSHIMA for the crime they committed in the 40s. Not the american people who ignore the truly reason for the goverment to commit this crime.
@liseehunakele You are a very lucky individual to have such talented artists in your life. Thanks so much for leaving a comment and for sharing a part of your world
@mileszp The Japanese musical instrument that you are referring to is known as the Koto. As to the video, you can put youtube's search engine to work and look up Hiroshima-One Wish. HiroshimaVEVO has the video with the group playing.
I remember watching video with the actual Hiroshima group. Hope someone can upload it here. I don't know what you call that Japanese instrument which is the main sound in this piece.
nice to hear this melody again after quite a while when one jazz radio station was pulled out of d airwaves....lets pray for the healing of japan and her people from the aftermath.......
Thanks for that. Wow, the song is that old? i thought it came out in the early 2000's. I wish the instruments that were used, especially for the last part.
back in the 70's when i first heard this song on FEN TV (Far East Network). It's the official tv station of the US military based here in the philippines. I feel like im in a tropical beach everytime i hear it, love it! thank you ! =}
It was very awesome to find Hiroshima songs , it brings so many fun and happy memories . I always had great repect and admiration to their talent and music, i beleive i might have all their CDS . It's problably archaic to use this term now. In their concerts they always acknowledge their roots and also east LA . May the good Lord find them healthy and still in great success . And may our Lord have mercy on the people of Japan and help them thru this crisis . Bless .
@bevekerry I think you interpreted okaoka54's incorrectly. He was stating that he wanted to go to Japan very much, and the pictures and song made him feel that way. Then he expressed that he wasn't sure if anything in these pictures was still there due to the earthquakes and tsunami. I didn't feel slighted in the least and I am sure most anyone else wouldn't think it was a negative comment. I thank you for standing up for the Japanese and I hope the survivors are okay
