The reason why this weapon is not fully suppressed is he is using super-sonic rounds in his MP5SD, in order to have suppressive fire you need sub-sonic rounds to keep the noice level under 40dB.
This weapon is designed to fire supersonic rounds. The suppressor, as stated by HK, reduces the speed to subsonic levels..... Atleast that is what I recall from a bit ago.
Yeah, only the early MP5s do... HK says in their owners manuals that proper form is to reload before finishing off a mag.... I like my traditional opperating system....
i'm hoping you don't plan on throwing subsonic ammo in there (in reference to agentspinnaker's comment). with the ported barrel on the MP5SD models, it is already meant to slow the velocity of regular 9mm ammo that it takes. slower ammo could risk hitting parts of the suppressor inside. busted baffles are no fun.
you can fire supersonic rounds from a mp5sd because the silencer is intergrated meaning that the barrel has slots cut into it so that the gases can escape making the bullet subsonic.
A H&K MP5SD is not consider to be a machinegun but rather a submachine gun, for firing a 9MM luger pistol round. Nonetheless, still a awesome weapon to fire!
true, under a military terminology, the mp5 is an SMG, however, under Federal law, anything that fires more than one bullet per trigger press is a machinegun... so we're both right.

The assault weapon ban expired, am I right?
frozenpie77 3 years ago
yes, but irrelevant to shooting a machine gun. Machine guns are regulated by the national firearms act of 1934. The AWB of 1994 had no effect.
GoFasterPlease 3 years ago
Correct, the Clinton 1994 Assault weapons ban covered semi-automatic rifles with certain features, not fully automatic weapons.

that has virtually no recoil
combatwizard 3 years ago
it has no recoil if you put your weight into it and keep a firm grip on the foreend.
I've seen some people go all over the place on FA.

Just came back from that range yesterday. Shot an mp5 without the silencer. Awesome but expensive

its a submachine gun
bongalek00 3 years ago
technically speaking yes. However, in the US, anything that fires more than one bullet per trigger pull is legally a "machine gun".

I thought the bolt locks back when all rounds have been fired.

As far as I know, the 40 caliber MP5's do but the MP5SD doesn't.
GoFasterPlease 4 years ago
The .40 MP5 is called the Heckler & Koch UMP.
GunsAnd90sRock 3 years ago
Negatory. The 40S&W MP5 and the UMP40 are different guns.

ah i didn't get to see ur target. how well u do?

MP5SD has almost no recoil, it's pretty easy to place all the shots in the COM from 7 yards if you know what you're doing.

Interesting... that's strange though how loud it was even with (effectively) subsonic ammo... I guess I'm just used to the sound of 22 lr cans

I've been to that place before, they don't exactly take great care of their rentals, so that might have a little bit to do with it.

Was that an integral or muzzle?
I need to find a range with C3 rents.

MP5SD has an integrated can

thats awsome did you shoot subsonics out of it?
agentspinnaker 4 years ago
nope, the "crack" you hear is the sonic boom on regular 115 gr FMJ
