  • so much better than gaga...

  • @ohrodel /watch?v=cvjGe_j6yR8

Go watch this. She sings the exact same song with Tony Bennett. Not nearly as good as this one, but it shows she is actually talented. However, more importantly, WHY DOESN'T SHE SING IT NORMALLY?!

  • OMG!!! This made my week! Divine!!!!

  • Its a crime this version is not on itunes

  • Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, two most talented jazz singers of the time, and even who ever lived. Two greats, an amazing collaboration, *nuff said*

  • Legal.

    abs.

  • Frank Sinatra is so pathetic.

  • @PorroFirst go FUCK urself asshole!

  • epic! dig this big time! here's a band in L.A. that has sinatra's vibe.

    search

    cinnamon doll nutty

  • OMG!!!! Freakin Classic!!!!

  • I'd bee shaking what I've got too!!

  • Why is the audience so uptight? Gosh, If I were there, I would shake it like I just don't care!

  • That's my favourite song, the best of Jazz

ohhhhhrrrrr i love it(mc donalds soundtrack)

and yes, the Lady is really a tramp

    thank you ella and frank

    i love you <3

    i'm from germany

  • gaga sings better

  • @ranamonster lol this version was very fast :D

  • @Leaxse That's cause its a 'Swing' arrangement, which Jazz artists/musicians enjoy peforming.

  • @ranamonster what a shithouse you are

  • Why such an incredibly fast tempo?... It took a little away from it, I think...it felt so rushed. It's an utter shame, these two giants, didn't record together, it would have been lovely.

  • Comment removed

  • @ilovewiki ...Because it's swing?

I agree, it's a shame that racism was so prevalent at that time.

  • That's great! They sing a part of the song which is rarely performed ("...she loves the green grass under her feet..")

  • i heard this song first from bennett and gaga but this duet is great too. They look so fun

  • They don't come any better. Nonpareil.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know if i love either artist better. They're both phenomenal

  • Best duet ever? I THINK SO.

  • so unbearably jealous of this audience.......

  • haha frank---"I think I hurt myself!" lol he was the best!!

  • Without a doubt, the GREATEST duet, ever recorded!!!!!!!

  • I'm smiling. They're smiling. What happened to the world.

  • Absolute greatness....!!!

  • Yesterday: Frank & Ella

Today: Tonny & Lady Gaga ♥

  • The two greatest

  • Who are the 5 people that disliked this video???…. seriously!?!?

  • Back then, it was Frank & Ella, now it's Pitbull & J.Lo.

I was born in the wrong time.

  • @moonym19 F''k yeah... :(

  • @moonym19 Don t you worry. Now whe have You tube. And also you made me feel young again. I suppose you dislike Lady Gaga and the "plastic boy". .

  • Glee brought me here!! .... I'm kidding these two great musicians did

  • FRANK + ELLA > Gaga and Tony Bennett

  • @DUNNJIN And it's been a competition since...? They both have their qualities. I like the swing and soul Sinatra adds, and the smoky authenticity of Gaga. Then again, I'm sure Ella has performed this better on other occasions - this doesn't seem to reflect her usual standard.

  • magnificent!

  • Why wasn't I born earlier ):

  • in my opinion, the two best voices in history! LOVE THIS

  • Yessssssss!!!!!!

  • fantastic version of this song with Nelson Riddle

  • Sinatra is so damned adorable, but Ella is the only person who can dwarf him onstage. This show was epic.

  • i'm only 22, but i get strangely emotional when ella fitzgerald sings. no matter how happy or fast.

  • Some of the greatest to ever hold a microphone.

  • off topic, but i really like what ella is wearing. : P

  • PURE MAGIC

  • you will never see a finer example of live singing.

    this entire segment is amazing.

    buy the dvd!

  • Does anybody know the name of this show/performance and year ? Thanks.

  • @greaseweb: It's Sinatra's third "A Man and His Music" TV special, called "A Man and His Music + Ella + Jobim" (it also starred Antonio Carlos Jobim, who originally wrote and sang "The Girl From Ipanema"). From 1967, I think.

  • @colBoh Thank you so much for the additional information. Cheers

  • GREAT, GREAT, GREATTTTTT

  • anyone know where I can get an instrumental version of this? I don't mind if I have too buy it off a site, I'd just like too know, someone send me a message if you find it please :)

  • how the hell do you get this great video. dvd.vhs. anybody know..help.????

  • @eenavid lol..go buy it at amazon.

its part of the recent box set and also available as a single show.

  • @JadeTomZ Does it also play on dvd-players in Europe???

  • magic!!!

  • Apparently Sinatra wanted to record an album with Ella but contractual differences with 2 different record companies prevented theis unfortunately. Ofcourse Nelson Riddle arranged numerous albums for both.

  • @Russell230870 The biggest missed opportunity in the history of recorded music is that these two geniuses didn't record an album together. The politics of the industry got in the way, but its a crying shame.

  • @bolder2009 Ella was scheduled to be on the first "Duets" album but was too ill already to do it.

  • @Robert4770 Ok, but even so it would have been a landmark moment if they had recorded an album together in their prime (50's or 60's). Ella recorded over 200 albums in her career, and amongst her most popular is her duet albums with Louis Armstrong. Those albums are some of the greatest recorded works in the cannon of 20th century American music. Frank and Ella were due to record an album but it didn't happen because of unresolved contractual reasons, according to N. Granz. At least we have this

  • @bolder2009 i do agree wiith you. Anyway I enjoy it. And also this song is one of my favorite ones.

  • love this version could listen to ella and frank all day and night...

  • If you ever wondered what Heaven sounds like...

  • the more I listen to this song, the more I smile<3 this is called the perfect combination of energy, people and music <3

  • 0:38 FRANK. I love this guy, don't you?!

  • the don't make 'em like that anymore

  • Thank you Frank. He took chances with his life to stand up and perform with Ella. We thank you. Its no big deal today because of you and others like Ella, who lay down a path of ease for others to walk on.

  • @stmarymead58 how did he take a chance with his life? racism?

  • @stmarymead58 He didn't care eh? Frank did what Frank wanted.... like refusing to play at ANY casino that wouldn't accept Sammy. Frank was the man of men and is loved and missed.

  • @stmarymead58 your so right frank was a beautiful person he did what was right and didnt give a damn what people thaught he was one of the main supporters of the civil rights movement he loved african americans he was engaged to south african dancer juliet prowse for alittle bit until she broke his heart cheating on him with Elvis LMFAO!! anyway what im saying is frank was an amazing person who stood for equality and didnt have a prejudice bone in his body may he rest in Heaven him and ella

  • I wish I was alive to see this :( :)

  • I'm 18 and I'm sick of the music being published these days. I would give anything to grow up whilst this music was in the charts. To see Frank and The Rat Pack, including all the other legends of this era performing live would be incredible. They were true entertainers and could hold the audience in the palm of their hands.

  • @RobSwain92 Dude I'm 17 now and it seems the older I get the worse music gets...I've given up hope on modern music, I totally understand what you're saying. <3

  • @TheNaturalOpal I'm 21 and I feel the same. But I heard Tony Bennet + Lady Gaga are remaking this song. AT least she has a decent voice. I do feel like I was born too late. 90's baby over here haha :)

  • @RobSwain92 They still do. Hold the audience, hold you and me, in the palm of their hands, don't they? :D

  • @RobSwain92 Same here ;).

  • That was just amazing!!!

  • frank ella live...check your blues at the door...and swing with this song.

  • wow! that was so smooooth :)

  • Pure beauty

  • "that's why this chick is a tramp" awesome

  • I know I am getting old because I am learning to appreciate beautiful music like this.

  • @frsh6272 Oh, no, I believe you'll be forever young, appreciating these good ol' tunes...

  • @Vampyr406 Thanks.

  • nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending ♥

  • How in the HELL could anyone dislike this video? Is it because it's not those crappy pop wanna be singers out there who are using autotune and cheesy choregraphed dances? I MUCH prefer real and true singing and what you see hear with Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald is REAL singing. They used their real, raw voices. They had true talent which is rarely seen nowadays in the industry. These 2 great singers didn't have to have autotune or use dance routines--all they had to offer was their voices.

  • 5 people she'd hate saw this video. She's right to hate them.

  • These are my two favorite singers of all time, seeing them together performing this amazing song is magical.

  • who can dislike that?

  • ...and on top of her sensational voice...she always looks gorgeous! GREAT dress Ella :)

  • I think that "Special" was the best hour on TV! Sinatra/Jobim duet and best solo "Old Man River" and much more! Truly inspired show!!

  • FRANK later said that, that night was one of the best nights of his career. And it was, it was....

  • AWESOME!

  • :)

  • This is the "SWING" !

    A.W.

    WMR UNIVERSAL

  • Excellent!!!

  • So nice to see real talent like and Ella & Frank, the best!

I'm afraid the REAL talent is gone with the wind. This garbage they put out today is what it is=====garbage.

  • I love this, it's such an upbeat and happy song!

  • Frank never disappoints!

  • woww

  • Ella was great, but Franks just in a class of his own!

  • Many thanks to the person that posted this. Nothing better to my ear is Ella Fitzgerald's voice, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra. I'll NEVER enjoy such authentic talent again.

  • Grandios!!!

  • i was shocked when she was like i got nothing to lose, I'm black.

    i had to replay.

and then i was double shocked when he said it as well.

    lol

  • @TCt83067695 "I'm flat, that's that!" Close, but not quite.

  • great voices!!

  • They blend really well together without even trying. It looks so natural.

  • This is my all time favorite, NO_ONE does it better than Ella and Frank!!

The two best ever singers of our generation.

  • Great video. Gotta love Frank Sinatra!!!

  • NON CI SONO PAROLE ...

  • damn

  • Glee made me love this song. Glee's version was good too.

  • great voices! both of them, really enjoyed watching this

  • So much energy and life in this song. I love it !

  • Their voices are great. If this were on the radio instead of in a video, it would have been perfect. But I didn't like they way they performed. They didn't dance. And they didn't seem to interact at all. It just seemed like two people singing two separate songs instead of performing one together.

  • OMG, OMG, OMG. I sat there thinking, "It would be really nice if two of my favorite jazz singers, Ella and Sinatra, sang together. I don't think they did, but I should try looking. " And then... after I typed in their names in the search engine, boom! This video :D.

  • Love when Ella says "I root for the DOGERS" and Frank screams!!!! love it

  • The audience is asked to not attract attention from the performers. That's why they aren't moving.

  • Comment removed

  • does she say "i'm black" and frank "that's that" what does that mean lol?

  • @0spazzy0yazzy0 "I'm flat," (flat broke) "That's that."

  • ..QUÉ DUO... LOS MEJORES EN SU GÉNERO..!!!! ES UN REGALO PARA LOS OIDOS..

  • if I were in a room with Ella and Frank singing, I wouldnt be able to sit still. lifeless audience.

  • @phooey108 yes!!!

  • Do you think there enjoying there selfs.. lol great thank you for postting

  • Ella ranks right up there with oxygen. Love Frank but Ella can't be touched!

  • Halfway through this I realized I had a big grin plastered on my face.

  • What an era I missed

  • The best and the best.

  • Hey i COVERD THIS SONG it would mean alot to me if you would check it out .. ANYONE hahaha i am not wasting your time i swear ! and if you like what you here please sudscribe :D

  • @loricbrowncow

are u fucking kidding me..why waste your time puhlease...with a gun to my head i dont listen to u sing....you talentless fuckers are in denial..funny how some brilliant talents are so insecure about themselves and how many ass wipes who got nothing have the balls to force their no-talent on us

  • @loricbrowncow Nice! That was pretty good! I liked your style of singing.

  • amazing song...a like very much :D

  • Let's take the 4 who dislike this into the back alley and beat the snot out of 'em.

  • Comment removed

  • This is one of those videos that I cannot understand how ANYONE could dislike it... honestly

  • is the audience made out of wax? They are not moving! How can you not, at least, move your head to this amazing performance?!

  • Masterpiece of music!!!

  • THIS IS NOT TALENT THAT DIES! ! WE GET THIS TALENT EVERY 100 YEARS! ! !(So I've been told... I think of Bach, ELLA, umm ELLA, Beetohven..etc...

  • Holy moses, this is incredible!

  • Perfect

  • I love Frank's ability to start on pitch after the applause at 3:00. Fantastic.

  • After listening to this video of Frank and Ella, I felt a huge sense of energy that I haven't seen in many popular videos these days. The voice of real talent with no autotune, no revealing clothing, no constant repetition of words. Just two very talented singers doing what they do best, sing.

  • @LanternX Mora than sing... PERFORM!!!!

  • @LanternX doo wap doo wap is repetetive

  • @LanternX

Lady gaga and Tony Bennett have done a fantastic cover of this. I suggest you check it out. No need to generalize or ridicule what is prominent. To each their own.

  • don't get me wrong,i'm a big sinatra fan,

but i think it's very funny to see Frank standing and singing so uncomfortably, whilst ella, with her impeccable (and variable) timing, complete destroys the sense of timing of sinatra.

  • I absolutely love this...their chemistry is great and I enjoy the upbeat tempo. The story being told and how they're telling it makes me feel like I was there and I know who they are talking about!

  • Why didn't they record together?! Her Majesty and The Voice are simply divine. It's too marvelous for words!

  • Its an old saying but it really doesn't get any better than this. Two masters at work. Every budding musician should watch this

  • This song is so fun to listen to! Two legends in a duet, what good be better?! Their chemistry on stage is awesome and their stage presence is very entertaining. This is real talent compared to the talent singers have today.

  • @topflightpoet- That's why they are defined as TRUE SINGERS and LEGENDS.... Did you hear me LEGENDS?

  • I really enjoy this video, both of them have extremely pure and strong voices. Its also interesting how they can perform well without doing anything over the top like dressing inappropriately and jumping dancing all over the place. No that dancing isn't nice when performing, but it cool that they can still be entertaining without doing a whole lot.

  • i saw this on pbs a while back. frank sinatra nad ella where real cool. i love jazz

  • Four people don't have motor skills.

Man how lovely these two were! Doesn't get old and nothing gets better than Frank or Ella.

  • WOW.....What a pair......

  • This is a great video! Love the song and the interaction between the two. The band is impeccable and the sound is fantastic. I also enjoyed the little dance moves they did.

  • This has a nice upbeat tempo!! When you actually to the words they are singing it's quite hilarious lol! Love it all the same!!

  • This is a great colaboration of these two legends.

  • They are very talented performers who have a lot of chemistry on stage singing. It's a very upbeat performance that puts you in a good mood by listening to it. The bad also adds to making it upbeat. It is a very great performance.

  • This looks like such a fun performance. The natural chemistry that Ella and Frank have between each other is absolutely beautiful. This performance really is able to lift a person's spirits. You can tell that Ella and Frank are giving their everything when singing the song. This is how music should be. I wish we still had music like this nowadays.

  • This performance seems so fun. The talent is effortless and fresh! It seems so natural and the vocalists do not lack chemistry at all. The band also adds plenty of spirit to the performance and keep the performance up beat. Watching this there is a natural smile accross my face. I loved it!

  • 2 LEGENDS!...I GOT GOOSEBUMPS WATCHING THIS!
