@mortician001 That's pretty much how Joe Morello got into drumming. He was a violinist, and then, after having spent time playing as the lead soloist for the Boston Orchestra, had the chance to sit with a truly masterful violinist, and figured he'd never get that good with the violin. The drumkit was his next choice. I mention this since Morello has been my fave to listen to from Rich's era, even though Rich is typically more impressive.. And it's Kind of funny how things connect to each other.

These guys are rubbish compared to travis barker. They have to use speed to sound good, but travis can sound good at any tempo, just playing in the pocket. He has a much better sense of groove than these guys, you can tell by watching his delicate techniques and innovative rhythm use in fills. He has much better skin-control too, he can get any sound he wants out of a drum, rather than just thrashing away with triplets and such... TRAVIS BEST DRUMMER EVER!!!

While competing in 1978 @ Ed Parker's International Karate Championship, I witnessed Buddy (at the time a black belt of Isshin-ryu karate) performing "kata" using rosewood nunckaku, very heavy. His dexterity, control, co-ordination and speed were amazing.
