  • all the best to you david, you have very good points and came across to the people clearly on a positive note. keep up the good work. fw hedrick n.z

  • I think David's best point was the line about, Rep Baird saying he would "let us" keep our own HealthCare. Did you see Baird's reaction? Baird knew he had step in it. by saying "let us" BAird assumes that he has the power to take it away.

  • I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE ORDERS OF THE PRES OF THE US and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replcng the wording 1ST adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 Oct1962).

  • Why is the pres part in caps?

  • I have frequently heard others quote the service men's oath and leave out that part. They are usually people who don't recognize the legitimacy of President Obama. I'm sorry if that was not the implication. I just think if one is going to quote the oath, one should quote the entire oath.

    Respectfully

  • And the fact that you coppied and pasted this leaves me to assume that you have never taken that oath and that you do not understand that those who have taken that oath also understand that no mater what the president says we are constitutionaly binded to never follow an order that commits an act of treason even if it does come from the president. Thus we can never disarm, or attack ANY American or thier rights given by the constitution. Doing so would be failing to defend that constitution.

  • When I was the age when people enlist women did not have the role they do today. My 6 uncles & my dad served & my brother retired from the Navy. Who is asking you to commit treason? Do you know that Cheney wanted to send troops to NY to arrest a bunch of suspected American terrorists but Bush nixed it. As a Constitutional scholar Obama has certainly read, understood, wrote about & taught the Constitution at one of the finest schools in the country. So who plans to bear arms against Americans?

  • If the democrats are not listening and they are in control in D.C. then what is our next step? or is everyone affraid to say what they feal in their gut?

  • What is it you feel in your gut?

  • If this keeps up and they pass this helthcare with the 51 factor, and if they keep passing bills the people dont want then something or someone is going to snap. They are acting just like the Brittish did just before the 1st revolution, atempting to take control of the people and destroy all hopes for freedom. I pray that the feeling in my gut is wrong but history is indeed starting to repeat itslef.

  • We have a representational democracy. When people get the facts on health funding reform, they favor it. I don't know how much you know about the American Revolution but it doesn't have much to do with the health insurance reform debate. It is not a good comparison. No offense but your generalizations are outlandish and unfounded. We are not a colony. We have a duly elected government. Whatever passes, if you think it is unconstitutional, take it to the Supreme Court, which is conservative.

  • The healthcare debate is not just about health care. Those who understand that this is just one more step to government control understand that this is unconstitutional. So it has a lot of similarities to the revolution. They have stated that they will pass it with or without the support of the American people. That is NOT freedom. I do think some things need changed but not by giving the government more power or another government run entity. There are better ways to fix the wrong.

  • 51% is a majority, right? The colonies had no representation. We do, Which of your freedoms or rights are being quashed? Were they quashed prior to January 20, 2009? We need to encourage our elected representatives to find a better way to finance health care for all Americans because commercial insurance companies are bankrupting too many hard working families. I've worked and paid premiums for 36 years. Now I'm laid off and have no insurance. Is that a good thing? Do insurance do you have?

  • Smileytrucker, I really don't mean to pick on you but, it was gut feelings that got us in to an unjustified, unnecessary war in Iraq. When you have a gut feeling, before you act on it, you need to check it out with your intellect. Our representatives need to listen to you and they need to listen to me too. And they cannot ignore what they know to be true versus what is false. I hope they don't listen to fear mongering but listen to experts in addition to the public. Respectfully.

  • I will send you a link to my site.. I dont have any intentions on acting on any gut feeling about this but there is a reality happening that most just dont see or dont want to so they ignore it. And constituionaly they have to have 60 votes. I didnt agree with the Iraq war 100%. I also dont agree it was a gut feeling. I think its intentions were about control of the region. As far as our representatives are concerned they havent truly listened to the people for a long time like they should.

  • It doesn't take 60 votes to pass a bill out of Senate. It takes 60 votes for cloture, which was adopted as a Senate rule in 1917. It's not in the Constitution. In IL students need must pass a Cnstitn test in jr high to pass. I gave my son a pocket sized copy of the Constitution when he was 16. Don't know where you live but sounds like you better lobby your state legislature to adopt a similar rule . Bush stated that he goes with his gut. The neocons had the strategy to control the region.

  • I also believe that most Americans have not attemted to play enough of a roll in the politics of our nation and that is the prime reason we have the issues we have today. It is sad how many have NOT read the constitution. For crying out loud it is the foundation or our freedoms. Why dont people want to understand that? Why do people want the gov to have control? Why dont people care about the men and women that have faught and died to protect the freedoms they take for granted every day? SAD!

  • Bravo! Semper Fidelis
