  • Driftability, ugly is in the mind of the behover. Skyvan and subsequent versions were extremely versitile and funtional, just like 'it says on the tin'. I have to say this as my brother was on the design team!

TonyAirlines: Yes fixed gear but was taking off from grass, I believe.

  • I wonder if man kind can make an uglier plane.

  • Wait...isn't the Skyvan fixed gear? What'd they run over? lol

  • Goldeagle1001, that is a strong comment. As already pointed out, being flat bottomed made the landing relatively easy without major damage and it was subsequently repaired and flew again.

  • shit

  • Hi Sibtupolev

Yes it was Invicta's G-BEOL. I was there assisting with Brooklands Museum's Vickers Vimy NX7IMY for a film shoot.

  • Is it the Invicta Aviation one?

  • was the skyvan badly damaged and where did it happen? do they use this skyvan for skydiving drops?

  • Hi 'thinkwhaturdoing' - The aircraft landed on grass at Kidlington. As it has a 'flat bottomed' fuselage the damage was minimal, as far I could see. It had been doing parachute drops at a nearby airfield.
