This was absolutely touching - Sometimes people forget during times of strife that we are all human beings, with hearts, emotions, and memories like every other man or woman on this earth. We've all gone through pain and suffering, as well as joy and happiness. Its such an ironic thing that loss, like the loss of life, connects people more closely than most anticipate or expect.

from this video, i kinda learned how WW I affected a nation...was the main cause of depression and a reason why Nazi Germany ever existed. I will always look at things from both sides, not just the winners and I'm glad this animation does the same. Killing innocent people (including jews) in death-camps was wrong, but there are many things that are also wrong in the world today, and just because Nazi Germany lost the war, they shouldn't be shamelessly promoted. Anyway, very Touching video,

My great grandfather was a german war hero. He had many medals and when the nazis rose to power, they took his medals and called him a cheating bastard and how he stool the medals from other soldiers. He died in 1943 in a death camp which the name of it I can't remember.

In reality, there was another tale of a WWI Jewish soldier who earned the Iron Cross, just as Hitler did in that war. By the time Hitler came to power, that other soldier was on his list. An officer and a younger soldier were sent to round him up. When he showed the Nazi officer the Iron Cross he had earned, the officer saluted him and left. His bravery in WWI had earned him one day to get himself and his family out of Nazi Germany.

The general in the WWI flashbacks was his father, and the little boy, expecting his dad to come home, was him. His Mom probably told him about the story of his dad giving the soldier the purple heart, and that he lost his eye. When to owner person in the concetration camp sees his eyepatch and the purple heart, he doesn't shoot him.

The two mens relationship is very mysterious. I don't know wheiter to think the nazi is mad at him or empathetic towards him after he sees the medal.

I loved how the metal itself was still and solid when everything else was shaky and chaotic.

im part german and i find this very touching. because as most germans do, i hate what happened in wwii and what people still think of us 70 years later. but this just showed me that people can recognize the fact we have emotions. even in rough times of hate and war we had feelings. if it werent for hitler many people wouldnt have died... which is sad. that 1 person controlled the fate of so many people. one heartless person to manipulate so many innocent people...
