No, but at the time I was told to set the frame rate as high as possible (64 fps on a bolex) and adjust the exposure accordingly. The flicker, as I eventually found out, was unavoidable without a specialized setup... so while an interesting experiment, it seems much more worthy of the effort to just go digital.
Thanks! I put blobs of clay on its feet for shoes, so I could make it stand off balance and pretty much stick to the ground. It's a good trick for amateur stop motion :-P
