Im upgrading from a BB 8520, and that battery honestly lasted about 6 or 7 hours. Sometimes it would run out before I got home from school at 3:30pm...
I still have the ancient 3g, lasts a week. Its mostly on standby though. 250 hours standby life on the 3g, the 4 has 300 hours standby life so i dont get why they die so quickly :/
yesterday I sent 3 messages and talked for 5 minutes noething else. The 3G network was off turned and after 6 hours a had 20% battery left. Something wrong?? I have a 4s with iOS 5.0.1
I just got my 4S a few days ago and Yes, you bet. It is as you said, the battery life does not last a day when compared to what we had experienced from the i4. I'm looking forward for the upcoming iOS to fix this.
i just want to say that the phones of today (including my phone) are like little computers. and even the best computers only have about 4 hour battery life when using them for watching videos, and playing games, etc. so it stands to reason that these phones would also drain quickly when used as sucu. thanks.

I hope it's a software problem :( I upgraded from an iPod Touch 3 to iPhone 4S expecting it to be the best thing ever but the battery is like 5 times worse than my years old iPod Touch. If Apple does not fix this within the next 2 months, it's false advertisement on their website saying the battery lasts 200 hours on standby when really when I have it on airplane mode, wi-fi turned off and everything power save - it only lasts like 60 hours on standby.
Just upgraded from my EVO 4g to an iPhone4s and i haven't had to charge it as much as my EVO... with my EVO i had a big battery and 2 smalls that i go through well before my day was over or right before my day was over.... so to me iphone4s battery BIGGGGG upgrade.... anyone know about he external battery I'm thinking about it for work so i can go hard on the battery

I hope they bring out a fix soon. They're saying the battery issues have only been reported within the last few weeks, the fuck? As soon as I turned my on, in 20 minutes of usage it reduced 10% and I got mine two days after the release. Personally I think they've done this on purpose so that the 5 will be forced to release sooner, encouraging people to upgrade.

Things like that drain the battery. It has fairly good life if you aren't using a million apps at once. And talking for hours and hours straight. I mean get a life. It's an amazing phone. @Gouki6669 No phone can remotely compare to iPHONE's seamless functionality. I've watched several movies/shows at one sitting and still had over half a battery while running on 3g which drains more than being on wifi. Only the public non techs can be tricked into believing other phones are comparable. It's Not brain science, we need 1 iPHONE model to dominate market. MF's have several iterations of the same phone just to try and live in the shadow of the iPHONE and they still fail.

But, i know over 6 people that got the new iphone 4s , and they say the battery dies within a day. And thats what others say too all around the world on the internet. So iphone can be alot of things, but the facts is that the battery life is crap, and therefore the cellphone wont be any good. I mean, if i go travel and i need the phone for more then 24 h, without charging then it wont make it.
@Gouki6669 Sold my i4 a few weeks back, and finally received my i4S order on Wednesday. The first day on Thursday the Battery life on the i4S was noticeably weak compared to my i4. On Thursday the fix came out. Fixed everything. Phone off the charger for 12 hours and moderately used. 76 Percent. Told you Apple's are Genius. Don't be hating :D iPHONE FTW!!!
I got my iPhone 4S yesterday and I was at 100% battery when I went to sleep and now 18 hours later, it's on 36% and I havn't used it just have it on my desk and in my pocket :P maybe gonna go down fast when I start to use it more :(

I had a 3gs that I got the first day of the 3gs release. So, it is about 2 and a half years old. I had to charge it twice a day but that is completely understandable considering the battery's age. The battery life of my 3gs was really the only reason that I bought the 4s. I need to charge the 4s more than the old 3gs. I have turned off everything that has been rumored on the web to help with no big difference.

The iPhone's battery is supposed to be one of the best in the business. You're the only person I've heard that has to charge your phone twice a day. If you had any Android phone, you wouldn't be able to leave the charger with that kind of use. If you have to charge your iPhone twice a day, then you should are using it too much. Put it down every now and then.
had the 4s since release and having the percentage icon in the status bar..its like watching a countdown..it can go down a few percent in a couple of minutes.
turning off as many features as i can, brightness down too.. just so i can get as much time out of it as possible.
I upgraded to the iPhone 4s from the T-Mobile MyTouch 4g and I am EXTREMELY EXTREMELY pleased with the battery life on this phone.
Ex: With my MyTouch it was unheard of to use my gps for anything unless I had been near my charger. Using it first thing in the morning to find some coffee was risky business. The phone used to die in my pocket while I was at work.
Now I can use my gps for whatever, whenever I want. I'll set a location based reminder before work and still be above 95% by the end
Hey Kryptic, you should buy one of those Mophie battery cases for your iphone 4S. It practically doubles your battery life so you wonn't have to charge it twice a day. Just a thought. I think most smartphones have limited battery power. You basically have a laptop in your pocket, but with a much smaller battery. I am sure Apple is working on a software fix that will help somewhat, but until batt technology improves, i think the Battery case is a good work around for any smartphone.

37% after 4 hrs, 3 min. 8 hrs 32 min standby. Very poor. Other iphone 4 I have is better than my 4S. I had swapped out my original 4S due to poor batt life. This one isn't much better. No apps running in background. Location based reminders on. Know it is a smart phone but should be making progress with power, not taking steps back. Not happy with 4S. I don't think it is a OS5 issue.
I went from the iPhone 4 to the 4s, battery life if way worse! I went into my local Apple store for a diagnostics check. According to them it's fine??? I was told that after I cycle the battery 6 times it will improve battery life. I was told to shut off Bluetooth and clear my multitasking?? Lots of excuses not too many answers. I have a iPhone 4s and before I had the HTC inspire. And I only need to charge my iPhone once at the end of the day. Its some much better then the HTC were it drained In a few hours.
One thing I do that helps my battery life is double tapping the home button and hold down an app icon. You tap the little red circles to stop running 40 apps simultaneously. My battery life is better after I started doing that. Kind of annoying to have to keep doing it all the time though.
Okay I think theres a solution for those with terrible battery life on the Iphone 4S since I had the same problem. My standby time and usage time was always the same and the battery would die really fast.
I ended up backing up my phone then Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all content and settings. Then go through activation and restore from backup.
It fixed my usage and standby time problem and the battery doesn't drain like no tomorrow. If this works for you, thumbs up so others can see
@Jamaica4Lyphe Before the reset I had 20 hours on a full charge when I barely used it. After the reset I get 2 days at least while I actually use it more. I still have a problem that my standby time goes up with usage time, but usage doesn't go up during standby. I might try a reset again and battery might last more than 2 days if it fixes the problem
I fully charge my iPhone 4 and 4s went to sleep around 12am and woke up around 10am and my iPhone 4 was at 98% and my 4s was at 87%. iPhone 4 battery was way better on standby
I dont get it, I am connected to wifi all day at college and at home and my iPhone 4s is still on at least 30% battery at the end of the day, usually 40%. This includes email, texting and games on the train there and back.
I'd use SBSettings (or another toggling system) to turn off WiFi when you're not using it. I know this sounds obvious, but it really does work. My iPod Touch 4's battery needs replacing (loses 90%+ charge in 24 hours standby when WiFi is on). However, when the WiFi is off, it only loses around 8%. This is all based upon the screen brightness being set up at full, and the iPod being charged on my iPod dock every night.
There is a problem with the iphone 4s battery. I did a DFU restore on mine and the battery life has significantly improved (night and day). My phone has been on standby for 3.5 hours and used it for 26 mins, and I'm at 98% of the battery.
I don't understand why everyone complains about the battery life. It's a freaking smart phone and should be expected to use a lot of power. Just get a car charger and extra wall charger for work and stop complaining.

The battery only improved on 3G talk, all the other specs of the battery stayed the same... and I think the battery is a little crappy coz we're constantly on our phones all day and all night, of course its gonna drain... :( ... ha!
My battery isn't too bad when I use Wi-fi instead of 3G. It's still not what I expected after using an iPod Touch for a few years before finally getting an iPhone.

LOL I knew it would happen, since the day the new iPhone was avaible for pre order. I've been searching for comments and videos, and I knew it because I saw in the official website informations about the battery life, and I realized that it was 33,33% less than the previous version - which I think has already a terrible battery life. i dont see the big deal with the 4s battery. im at 36% usage at 3 hours and 40 min and standby is 13 hours and 38 min. i think this is great for battery. i played cod zombies for around an hour or more. i dont know how may texts and voice calls. wifi on all day. i mean i think its great but thats just me.
i just bought my iphone4s and i had a android flipout (motorola) before and i would go a whole day without charging it.. now with the iphone 4s.. it's like day and night. i'm down to 17% battery at 5:30pm (waking up at 7am and unplugging it from the wall) and i was really taking it easy with my apps, facebook and music. i would delete all the apps on the bottom that were "open" and it seems to drain the same rate.. kind of a bummer that i have to carry around a charger with me all day.
Have both iphone 4 and the 4S, with exact settings on both phones. The 4S iphone is draining faster than the iphone 4, I charged both phones to 100% then without using either phone did a recheck after three hrs. Results: iphone 4 was at 97% charged and the 4S was showing 93% charged. Only the Internet was kept on, no push or other notifications were turned on including email.

@Gouki6669 Sold my i4 a few weeks back, and finally received my i4S order on Wednesday. The first day on Thursday the Battery life on the i4S was noticeably weak compared to my i4. On Thursday the fix came out. Fixed everything. Phone off the charger for 12 hours and moderately used. 76 Percent. Told you Apple's are Genius. Don't be hating :D iPHONE FTW!!!

I got my iPhone 4S yesterday and I was at 100% battery when I went to sleep and now 18 hours later, it's on 36% and I havn't used it just have it on my desk and in my pocket :P maybe gonna go down fast when I start to use it more :(

I had a 3gs that I got the first day of the 3gs release. So, it is about 2 and a half years old. I had to charge it twice a day but that is completely understandable considering the battery's age. The battery life of my 3gs was really the only reason that I bought the 4s. I need to charge the 4s more than the old 3gs. I have turned off everything that has been rumored on the web to help with no big difference.

The iPhone's battery is supposed to be one of the best in the business. You're the only person I've heard that has to charge your phone twice a day. If you had any Android phone, you wouldn't be able to leave the charger with that kind of use. If you have to charge your iPhone twice a day, then you should are using it too much. Put it down every now and then.

had the 4s since release and having the percentage icon in the status bar..its like watching a countdown..it can go down a few percent in a couple of minutes.
turning off as many features as i can, brightness down too.. just so i can get as much time out of it as possible.
i charge it probably once every day

I upgraded to the iPhone 4s from the T-Mobile MyTouch 4g and I am EXTREMELY EXTREMELY pleased with the battery life on this phone.
Ex: With my MyTouch it was unheard of to use my gps for anything unless I had been near my charger. Using it first thing in the morning to find some coffee was risky business. The phone used to die in my pocket while I was at work.
Now I can use my gps for whatever, whenever I want. I'll set a location based reminder before work and still be above 95% by the end

Hey Kryptic, you should buy one of those Mophie battery cases for your iphone 4S. It practically doubles your battery life so you wonn't have to charge it twice a day. Just a thought. I think most smartphones have limited battery power. You basically have a laptop in your pocket, but with a much smaller battery. I am sure Apple is working on a software fix that will help somewhat, but until batt technology improves, i think the Battery case is a good work around for any smartphone.

Read the article in Google News today. Apparently, setting your Setting Time Zone off will improve your battery life, since the iOS5 is rumored to have a glitch.

lithium-based batteries perform best when charged in cycles. To get maximum performace out of ur iphone battery try:
Cycle 1. let battery run down to like 3%, turn on airplane mode. Use up remaining power then recharge fully on airplane mode.
Cycle 2. with meter showing 100% u will notice the 1st 50 to 55% will deplete rapidly. Put phone on charger @ around 45%.
Cycle 3. with meter showing 100% u will notice that the 1st 25 to 30% will deplete rather quickly. Recharge @ 30% & cycle complete

37% after 4 hrs, 3 min. 8 hrs 32 min standby. Very poor. Other iphone 4 I have is better than my 4S. I had swapped out my original 4S due to poor batt life. This one isn't much better. No apps running in background. Location based reminders on. Know it is a smart phone but should be making progress with power, not taking steps back. Not happy with 4S. I don't think it is a OS5 issue.

I went from the iPhone 4 to the 4s, battery life if way worse! I went into my local Apple store for a diagnostics check. According to them it's fine??? I was told that after I cycle the battery 6 times it will improve battery life. I was told to shut off Bluetooth and clear my multitasking?? Lots of excuses not too many answers. I would get 2 days on the 4 with 1 charge, the 4s 1/2 a day use 😡

One thing I do that helps my battery life is double tapping the home button and hold down an app icon. You tap the little red circles to stop running 40 apps simultaneously. My battery life is better after I started doing that. Kind of annoying to have to keep doing it all the time though.

Okay I think theres a solution for those with terrible battery life on the Iphone 4S since I had the same problem. My standby time and usage time was always the same and the battery would die really fast.
I ended up backing up my phone then Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all content and settings. Then go through activation and restore from backup.
It fixed my usage and standby time problem and the battery doesn't drain like no tomorrow. If this works for you, thumbs up so others can see

@Jamaica4Lyphe Before the reset I had 20 hours on a full charge when I barely used it. After the reset I get 2 days at least while I actually use it more. I still have a problem that my standby time goes up with usage time, but usage doesn't go up during standby. I might try a reset again and battery might last more than 2 days if it fixes the problem

I fully charge my iPhone 4 and 4s went to sleep around 12am and woke up around 10am and my iPhone 4 was at 98% and my 4s was at 87%. iPhone 4 battery was way better on standby

I dont get it, I am connected to wifi all day at college and at home and my iPhone 4s is still on at least 30% battery at the end of the day, usually 40%. This includes email, texting and games on the train there and back.

I'd use SBSettings (or another toggling system) to turn off WiFi when you're not using it. I know this sounds obvious, but it really does work. My iPod Touch 4's battery needs replacing (loses 90%+ charge in 24 hours standby when WiFi is on). However, when the WiFi is off, it only loses around 8%. This is all based upon the screen brightness being set up at full, and the iPod being charged on my iPod dock every night.

There is a problem with the iphone 4s battery. I did a DFU restore on mine and the battery life has significantly improved (night and day). My phone has been on standby for 3.5 hours and used it for 26 mins, and I'm at 98% of the battery.

i dont see the big deal with the 4s battery. im at 36% usage at 3 hours and 40 min and standby is 13 hours and 38 min. i think this is great for battery. i played cod zombies for around an hour or more. i dont know how may texts and voice calls. wifi on all day. i mean i think its great but thats just me.

i just bought my iphone4s and i had a android flipout (motorola) before and i would go a whole day without charging it.. now with the iphone 4s.. it's like day and night. i'm down to 17% battery at 5:30pm (waking up at 7am and unplugging it from the wall) and i was really taking it easy with my apps, facebook and music. i would delete all the apps on the bottom that were "open" and it seems to drain the same rate.. kind of a bummer that i have to carry around a charger with me all day.

Have both iphone 4 and the 4S, with exact settings on both phones. The 4S iphone is draining faster than the iphone 4, I charged both phones to 100% then without using either phone did a recheck after three hrs. Results: iphone 4 was at 97% charged and the 4S was showing 93% charged. Only the Internet was kept on, no push or other notifications were turned on including email.
