Please lawmakers , understand that you can not get rid of something that is older that the amount of time the usa has been a country. please take the money that your wasting and get rid of cigarettes. i smoked for 23 years , when you could buy a pack of smokes from a machine of the corner, when i quit noone would help pay for the medicine i needed , they said that if i wanted to quit then i had to quit out of my own pocket when they said it was bad and i should quit. its a double standard.

breast milk should be ilegal, beacuse it was my gateway drink into drinking alcohol. I have never drank a drop of alcohol until i had breast milk as a child. And animal fat has been linked to lung cancer. By the way, the actual study didn't say that one joint is the equivalent to twenty cigarettes, because the European Respiratory Journal 2008 made no such fallacious statement. Never get your source from a news website that loves hyperboles.

I'd like to point out that the potential health hazards of smoking are easily avoided. Just don't smoke it. Vapes, edibles, topical salves, tinctures and even suppositories can be used. I'm really shocked that there are people who think prohibition is keeping people from getting high. seth even thinks a vote can make people stop consuming cannabis.

You can get lung cancer from smoking marijuana and it would interfere with people's abilities to drive and operate vehicles and machinery. In fact, some highs might last hours and hours after each smoking, thus I think the buzz lasts longer than booze.

And I'm not sure if it makes people rape crazy, but some people certainly do rape people while under the influence of marijuana and it can suspend the morals on quite a few people.

@sethmanrockandroll Where did you hear that from? I'd like to know because so many scientist keep saying it can prevent lung cancer. Yes highs do last for hours, but you can ask anyone that drinks how long do they stay drunk and the normal reply is until I puke and pass out, which means for hours and hours. And if people really raped while under the influence, you'd see it on the news 24/7. I have yet to hear of a case. And yeah it can actually, but so does peer pressure.

A guy I knew raped his sister because quote "my father got me high". He was a teenager so they shuffled him to the institution that I was in (for not going to school). He hid the fact that he was high so that people like his father would not get into trouble, etc.

Practically anything inhaled to the lungs (besides fresh air) can cause cancer, its worse for cigarettes because they have added drugs with it, but regular tobacco and and marijuana can cause cancer.

You make fair point about booze. Plenty of alcohol ought to be done away with but never is on account of the fact that it is such a popular beverage. The thing about Marijuana is that it may be less dangerous than alcohol but its just another thing that people don't need and they should nip it before it becomes as habitual as booze or smoking.Also creates hallucinations and is mind altering, often used by cults and even more normal users have an obsession for the leaf.

Some compare it to drinking wine, and like I said, it's been proven to prevent lung cancer, and there are many ways to inhale marijuana. You can easily vaporize it or eat it (both are popular). As a smoker myself, I choose to smoke and I choose not to do anything that will get me in trouble. They best ANYONE should be able to do is advice them against it, and if you're going to advice someone give them creditible information. My mom, my best friend's mom and dad and some eldery folks I know have been smoking longer than I've been born and so have their friends who are the same age or older, none of them have lung cancer. My friend's mom smokes cigs and needs a machine to live.

I believe in personal accountability, but I think I would normally want to defend a person before I defend a substance. No, I would never go around saying marijuana is the answer to all your problems. I happen to believe that it is all I need, and if other things work for you then by all means keep using it. But I would defend marijuana use for some like I would alcohol. I don't like it, but I'll defend a person's right to consume it

Its up to a vote, and if people decide its one more thing they don't want then nobody is gonna have it. I don't defend alcohol either except to say that I think a marijuana high lasts longer and is not nearly as obvious to detect. I also think people high on marijuana will hallucinate, and I also think that 90% of the people who use it are obsessed with it (my figure).

I also standby saying that NO ONE can say it never hurt anybody or that the only problem is that it is illegal.
