  • I watched this video while eating a slice of apple pie.

    Best experience ever. XD

  • Good!

  • Comment removed

  • what an amazingly smooth voice he has!! =)

  • I really do love Wordsworth.

  • I have to read that tomorrow in a poetry comp! =)=)

  • What was that exactly, he didn't make me feel like he was reading a poem. It was not good. the poet's mood was a bit off and felt better looking at the daffodils, Jeremy could've done better than that. If some of you can understand arabic, then check how some arab poets and non poets read poetry ( Classical Arabic ). It is just MAGIC.

  • jeremy irons and alan rickman, the most melt-worthy speaking voices i've ever encountered up till now.

  • Lol, Scar from Lion King reading Daffodils...

  • I'd have to add Mr Darcy (2004) to your poetry circle...if I may?

  • I also wish he narrated my life. But I mean Wordsworth.

  • Ode to a worm

    Hello humble timid worm

At least you're better than a germ !

  • what's daffodils?

  • @coverscopyer Very pretty yellow flowers. They're the flowers scene in the background of this video. :)

  • LOL..Microsoft Sam

  • God he looks about 100. It's the smoking.

  • Is it possible to get pregnant from this?

  • @MissSorrow100 rotfl

  • It feels weird when I close my eyes then I thought of Scar from The Lion king reading "Daffodils" Chills up my spin

  • Imagine a poetry circle of James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, Jeremy Irons, Anthony Hopkins and Sean Connery. That would be an epic to hear.

  • I really love that poem. There is a video on ytube where the same poem has been set for male choir by Robert Sund from Sweden

    Really adorable! Must See

  • Perfect example of how the beauty of the poems of the romantic era can be marred by modern rendition. Wish I had not heard it.

  • I want Jeremy and Alan Rickman to Narriate my life

  • @cagdog123 Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, and James Earl Jones...

  • i love it but actually the poem is actually i wandered lonely as a cloud

  • @dadriannesegree Actually, the poem goes by both names.

  • @TheRyanI23 oh, i didnt know,i studied wordsworth poetry at school and i knew it as i wandered lonely as a cloud, daffodils is also a fitting title.

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh <3 love you kiss

  • his voice is so cool! And when he must play an evil, his voice EVIL! That's what i love of Jeremy Irons.

  • It's weird to hear Scar read such a lovely, harmless poem... O.O

  • Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman have the most perfect voices in the world <3

  • @xXeMokiDXxMCRXx ironically they are both die hard villains

  • @QuizT13 Why do you think the Die Hard Quadrilogy is one of my favourite films ever! :P Their acting in the movies is some of the best I have seen from them, not that you ever see anything but the best from them. :) they make fabulous villians! :D

  • He seems a lot like an older, British Robert Downey, Jr.

  • *MELTS*

  • true fact: a linguitst and sound engineer discovered that the combination of jeremy iron and alan rickman's voice creates "the perfect male voice"....ahaha but we all already knew that :p

  • @TheBlueguitar333 They showed that on a TV show I watched, they also did the perfect Sat Nav voice & it was Jeremy Irons and Ewan Mcgregor!

  • omygahhhhhhhh

  • It's a bit quick. Must be the new style, to ignore how it's written. It's a poem on purpose.

  • dude this is gona help me get an A in la lololol cause i gota memorize this poem xD

  • Whoa... slow it down a bit J.I.

  • LOL Scar's poetry readings... his secret hobby.

  • I would sell my soul to satan for this voice.

  • I can't help it, every time I hear his voice I think of Scar.

  • @Kreloar he IS scar

  • Alan Rickman's voice is better, but Irons definitely has a great voice.

  • I wish Jeremy Irons was my dad!

  • great narration!

  • "Be prepared!" =)

  • @JuanMacready woah now, how is he a pedophile?

  • @Chizpurfle52595 He admitted it in a 2005 interview.

  • @JuanMacready is your life so empty that you fel the need to make unnecessary and inappropriate comments. Do everyone a favour and keep quiet

  • I could listen to three people read just about anything...telephone book included: Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, and Anthony Hopkins.

Jeremy's voice especially is just beautiful.

  • This man is amazing. He Is what every woman wants

  • He's got a great voice, but when he reads 'a poet could not but be gay', he could have sounded a little more, well, 'gay' ^^ This may sound weird, but I always remember Anne of Green Gables when she reads out the Lady of Shalott. That's the kind of melodrama I like in a good poem =)

  • Spoken too fast, no felling.

  • @40thegardener2

Mr irons charges by the second - it's all we could afford! It was either that or just have him read the first two lines properly.

  • @weirdcitykid NOTED

  • wow so nice

  • His voice is like Shalimar perfume to me!

  • Did anyone else have to memorize this damn poem in 6th grade?

  • it leads our heart to a different world......

    love a lot

  • I want him to narrate my thoughts, my life, everything...

  • Sheer beauty in vocal form... -sigh- If only Tony Jay were still alive. I would want him to read me some poetry too. :( He had an awesome voice as well (for those of you who don't know, he did the voice of Judge Claude Frollo in Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame... epic movie, btw).

  • Great poem. Wank performance.

  • What a voice. You can't help being drawn to listen.

  • yes yes english :) mr o'dwyer's class rulez, yes written with a 'z' : )

  • completely beautiful...

  • This seems to be my night for poetry readings by British actors, because I ended up here after listening to Alan Rickman reading Shakespeare... :D Both readings were lovely. I completely forgot about this poem until now. I never knew that Jeremy Irons did a reading of it!

  • That is amazing poem and thank you for this !!!!!

  • Lovely...

  • brilliant....moving...amazing....words are magical....

  • WOW.. brilliant voice !! superb video !!

  • IRONS indeed has great diction and phrasing but he reads the poem too quickly and we lose the meter --

  • DAT VOICE.

  • i wish he narrated my life

  • He is the voice in Westminster Abbey's audioguide. Perfection.

  • struggling for immortal words, that do not seem to appear; his muse no longer affords, the poet with rhyme to hear; when the passions rush on, the poet writes beautifully and real; but with his lover gone, the poet grasps just to feel; an artist hungers for inspiration, it fuels his soul with comfort; it comes like blessed benediction, yet leaves despite all effort; now the poet ponders, with pen griped in hand; his mind seeking verbal wonders, his will refusing to end.
  • @dalecampbl7 That's very pretty.

  • @discopeppers344 thank you, i wrote it 2 summers ago, i wrote two (but I lost them, deleted them from my HD on accident)...i'm no poet, not even close to loving the English language, but when you like a girl who is out of your grasp, it can make you do things like write melancholy poems

  • @dalecampbl7 Well whatever the reasons,its still Truly Beautiful.^ ^

  • So many don't know what it's called. What's your point?

  • Yeah actually Jeremy it's called "I wandered lonely as a Cloud" ... never mind, can't expect actors to be educated I suppose.

  • @ABardUnhinged Yet, many know it as "Daffodils."

    Search for qUi3Q6k6c0Y

  • @ABardUnhinged isn't that what he had said????? :S

  • splendido,grazie

  • i want that letter font :p what's it called tell me tell me i implore

  • @SatoTM2 Dali

  • @Noxdl thankyou

  • @Noxdl doont have it D=

  • @Noxdl No it isn't..? The d's don't have such a curl in Dali

  • @AngelBiLove Then, I don'tremember, which one I've used.

  • @SatoTM2 I don't know the name of it either, but it's the one they use in the film version of Phantom of the Opera, if that's any help.

  • My school Homework was to memorize that and i am only ten!

  • @MrBUmBuM101 even me

  • @MrBUmBuM101 not hard :)

  • sir jeremy irons will always remain sexy. what a voice, what a face, what a man is this.

  • I found it a little fast to absorb but the soft nuances in his voice made up for it. Beautiful, beautiful reading.

  • looks old now

  • nice poetry

  • jeremy..

you just gave me an eargasm..

  • @kikikyami i would love to hear him read A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns. I know Irons is english but i bet he could pull off the original accent

  • @kikikyami that's why the poster called it a "poesm."

  • Sounds like Professor Snape.

  • Prefer this poem to be read somewhat slower. Don't really care how Wordsworth would want it to be read, just my five cents :-)

  • creepy.

  • screen memory is awesome

  • cookieflower:

Jeremy Irons uses Received Pronunciation. See wikipedia for an explanation of this.

Also, Wordsworth was born in Cumberland (NorthWest), two centuries before Irons, who grew up on the Isle of Wight (extreme South). Very different accents, even if they weren't two centuries apart!

Jeremy Irons is one of my favourite actors. I saw him live on stage in London. Nevertheless, "saw" is not "sawr"!

  • merrymadi: Google Forvo pronunciation guide.

Enter "saw" in "Search for a word".

    Click map of England.

Now, do you hear an "r" at the end of the "aw" sound? I don't.

Re "British" accents, there are hundreds. Have fun with YouTube "The many voices and faces of Peter Sellers".

    Peace.

  • Oops. My mistake. Somehow I'm not uploading properly. Need to study the "Help" section. More later.

  • Guess the uploader doesn't like criticism. My (respectful) comments are blocked.

  • the poem is actually entitled "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud."

  • And this is actually a poesm. Not a poem.

  • Omg he has the best voice ever! He is so hot!!!!!!!!!

  • omg....his voice is SO wonderful. melts*

  • lol. indeed listening you have the feeling that the voice melts somehow at the end of the stanzas.

  • haha

  • Simon says......

  • beautiful poem, one of my faves :) and Jeremy Iron's voice..... SO AMAZING :D

  • no other voice could offer the same interpretation of pure elegance and masterfulness!

  • Have always loved this poem but this version is just wonderful ..... :)

  • This is so beautifully read, it's a pity that "saw" is pronounced "sore" ("When all at once I "sore" a crowd, a host of daffodils" and "Ten thousand "sore" I at a glance"). Still, I'd rather hear the odd flaw than deadly dull "perfection". So, once more: beautifully read.

Thank you for posting this, Noxdl

  • How else would you pronounce "saw"? I'm British and grew up in England, and I've always pronounced, and heard it pronounced that way. I hope you're not suggesting he should have been saying "sah".

  • @clyffe347 It's how Wordsworth would have pronounced it.

  • I placed a wild daffodil upon William Wordsworth's grave

And witnessed for myself ..the hosts of wild golden daffodils ...

That cover the hills and the banks of the lakes

A wonder and such beauty to behold

  • Yes perhaps a little too fast - Nothing against American accents, but I was just so grateful to find an Englishman reciting Wordsworth.

  • What a beautiful poem. I wish I could write as well as this.

  • A mite too fast at times, but well done.

  • Hey you go speak for spaceship earth right now Judi Dench sucks.

  • This is really good!

  • It's nice but a bit too fast..

  • It's not too bad!

  • Beautifully recited; takes on new meaning with Jeremy's wonderful voice!

  • makes me happy

  • We had Daffodils at Church today!

  • What a marvalous poem. I read it freshman year.

It sounds even more beautiful with Jeremy Irons reading it.

  • His voice is like liquid silk

  • YES!!! I love his voice so much and James Earl Jones'.

  • I wish he could read me bed time stories each night :)

  • Ha, totally! I could listen to his voice for HOURS! And I have ADHD so that means a LOT :D

  • He could read the phone book and make it sound wonderful.

  • @Brennna Oh yeah!heck yes please yes!!.Thats amazing how people can do that!! and Liam Neeson has the same effect!!! Love them both.

  • @Brennna . i love his voice if i can speak as well as that one day i will be a happy man:). im british and i am well spoken when i want to be. i dont sound as good as jeremy though not yet .

  • i love his voice

  • His voice sounds velvety, oh what a poem!

  • am I the only one that finds it funny,

and even a bit ironic that the writer is called William WORDS WORTH? X3

  • A nice thought as snow and cold encroach all about me..

  • One of my my mother's favorite poems.

  • Sir Jeremy Irons :D ... well perhaps one day

  • his voice.....

the soft pronounciation of the T,

the low vibrato under the lines he's reading.

    I could listen to him

    for

    ever...

  • Ah... such a lovely rendition. It brings back sweet memories of springtime when I was enchanted by the vibrant hues of dancing daffodils. Spendid. Thank you.

  • Oh... I enjoyed this so much! I love this poem and his voice - wonderful!

Thankyou dear Sister, for sharing this dance of daffodils with me!

Thankyou for this lovely post, Noxdl :)

  • I could listen to his voice forever. It's so sexy.

  • Immaculate...this is brilliant and why great poetry stil lives.

  • Too fast, too fast !! slower, slower, otherwise the diction sounds poor. One of my favorite poems, nice to hear it again , but could be improved Mr. Irons .

  • Sir Jeremy Irons :D

  • The best Favourite Voice

  • Oh gosh, I can't help but picture Scar reciting this poem in his almighty emo lion melodrama.. *giggle* That wonderful voice is why I love Jeremy Irons and Scar. :3

  • MY favourite poem and flower!!Jeremy Irons has such a beautiful voice!

  • Jeremy, assuming that you're taking the piss as the poem richly deserves, full marks.

  • This poem is pretentious and thus delivered ideallly

  • Beautiful voice!

    Thanks for sharing

  • I think that too.Jeremy Irons has really wonderful [and a bit creepy] voice.I wish there were more poems read by him.Or Christpher Lee...

  • Yes. Come on Mr. Irons, we want more!

And I agree on the Christopher Lee part as well.

PS: Christopher Lee has a great singing voice.

  • Which song did Christopher sing?

  • The Toreador, and he also did a song with Rhapsody (smth with Wizard's Dream or smth like that in the title).

    Happy Holidays!

  • The Toreador, in Bizet's Carmen?

    You mean to Italian?

  • It's a song by a Rockband. I think you can find it on youtube.
