  • And everyone talks like Buckshot rules just because it'll hit something 20 yards out and larger birdshot wont. Indoors, especially in a home, you're not aiming for something FORTY FEET AWAY. And if you are, the guy is out of your house, off your lawn, and running.

You cant even say buckshot is more reliable, because at the ranges inside a home, out to the yard, smaller shot sizes are still very lethal. .22 is still very lethal at those ranges lol.

  • Eh. I'm still for BB birdshot. My 20ga wont blow your head off. It'll leave your head intact. You just wont have any facial features and you'll drown/suffocate to death on your own blood if it doesn't go through your skull n_n.

Hell, if you live being shot in the face, with a 20ga, using BB birdshot, you're AT LEAST gonna be blind for the rest of your life. Heck, i could be aiming for your chest and still get your throat, eyes, and face >:D

  • @bjovi12

"then they could sue you for personal harm....the intruder sues the homeowner for harm done to his body"

Imagine what your innocent neighbors could sue you for if you use too large of a caliber weapon to defend yourself against an intruder and penetrate your neighbor's house and hit one of them. Home defense isn't just about killing an intruder, it's also about defending yourself against the legal system when the shoot is over - ignore that part and you'll die in prison.

  • For HD I have a .410 pump shotgun with double pistol grips - very light, compact & maneuverable, very little recoil. It's loaded with #9 birdshot - more than 200 little pellets in each shell. My house is small & any SD shot would be 10' or less. I am surrounded by very close neighbors - using a 12 gauge with 00 buckshot for HD would definitely penetrate a neighbor's house & land me in prison. After doing my own ballistics testing I am confident my setup will stop any human who invades my house.

  • @CaneFu That might not stop a big black guy though, even if you shoot him 2 or 3 times. Heck, some thick clothing will stop that xD.

"The truth about guns" has BG tests that show #8 shot only penetrating about 4.5 inches of human flesh. #9 must be lower, logically. You'll make blood fly, but that guy isn't going down without a fight with your setup :U

  • @peepeevagi

Go shoot your "big black guy" boogeyman with 00 buckshot if you want - I hope you spend the rest of your life in prison you fucking racist moron.

  • @CaneFu LOL it's racist because i said big black guy i take it? It's just an example for chrissakes you politically correct asshole.

And i'm the moron? You're the one defending a shotgun house with #9 birdshot out of a .410. ALL I'M SAYING is that you'd be safer off with a larger size of birdshot, in case your perp happens to be a big guy LIKE a big black guy.

And you're obviously too ignorant to read my previous comments. 20ga with BB birdshot is my choice for home defence.

  • @peepeevagi

Why do you think "big black guys" are more bullet proof than big white guys? Why would it even have to be a black guy? You're too stupid to even realize what ur saying.

Read my posts you idiot - at 10 feet or less a .410 with #9 shot has similar ballistics to a .41 magnum and NO heavy clothing will not stop it you idiot. Nothing human will stand up to my setup at close range and that's all home defense is.

I also don't want to go to prison for shooting my neighbors.

  • @peepeevagi

And I'm not being politically correct...

I am a "big black guy" you asshole.

  • @CaneFu LOL MY BAD! Had no idea you were a big black guy. Dont beat my ass xD. It's just the best example i can conjure up. I live in Texas. Down here the only "Big" guys that rob places are almost allways black. So sue me lol.

And no, #9 shot DOES NOT have ballistics comparable to a .41 magnum. I've got the Ballistics gelatin tests to prove it, bitch. And clothing DOES make a difference. I'd let you shoot me at 10 feet with your setup if i had a thick leather jacket on.

  • @peepeevagi

So you're an ignorant racist Texas redneck - what a surprise.

  • @CaneFu Actually, what you need are some frangible slugs in a 12ga. They guarentee a first shot kill, and cant over-penetrate because they're frangible. Instantly better than your super asinine setup.

  • @CaneFu The only way you're killing a guy, first shot, with your setup is at less than 2 feet. Birdshot, even BB birdshot, loses that reliability at about 10 feet. Even in a 12 gauge! What makes you think that your .410 is magically exempt from the laws of physics?

  • @peepeevagi

Birdshot does not lose it's reliability at 10 feet - my hunting partner killed a deer with birdshot at 7 yards because that was the only load he had when it stepped out in front of him. Think people are tougher than deers?

  • @CaneFu I call BS on your "Story" unless you can provide some proof. I've got Ballistics gelatin results that disprove anything you say. And i didn't say it couldn't kill. The chance of a first shot kill drops DRAMATICALLY though.

  • @CaneFu Do yourself a favor and do a quick google search for "Birdshot as a home defence round". Shit, the SMALLEST anyone even considers useable for birdshot is #4 birdshot. And i'm using the LARGEST sort of birdshot possible.

  • @peepeevagi

I have probably read everything ever posted on the Internet about home defense shotgun loads so I don't need to do the Google search again. Almost all of it is pure theory with little experience. What I do know for sure is what I have seen and I'm not going to waste all night debating with a close-minded Texas redneck who is afraid of big black bullet-proof boogeymen.

I realize now that you're a complete jackass so let's just leave it at that.

  • @peepeevagi

And since you put so much weight on Internet stories - Google this one...

"peter hathaway capstick killed a lion with birdshot while grouse hunting"

You can't have it both ways - either this story has credibility or none of your Internet links do either...

    jackass.

  • @CaneFu But what you have is a story. What i have is RESULTS FROM TESTS. The two are not the same :/

And obviously you havent seen everything posted on the internet about defense shotgun loads, because NOBODY reccomends a bird shot size smaller than #5 or #4. And you've got no proof of your concept, whereas i have all the proof against it.

You're just ignorant, and too prideful to admit that your home defense ability sucks.

  • @CaneFu Answer me this. How are you supposed to kill an intruder, with a shot that doesn't penetrate more than three inches of ballistics gelatin?

  • @CaneFu Answer me this dumb ass. How are you supposed to kill someone with shot that wont penetrate more than 3 inches of ballistics gelatin? If you say "Shoot him in the face" i'm going to laugh.

You cant say the same about my setup though. BB birdshot is heavy enough to actually go in further.

  • @peepeevagi

Let's see, in your previous post you said 4-1/2 inches of penetration, now the figure has mysteriously changed to 3 inches. Next, you'll be saying 2 inches, then 1 inch, and then finally that a blast from a .410 shotgun w/birdshot 10 feet away won't even break the skin.

The truth is that you're a wannabe Internet ninja with no practical experience and are just regurgitating what you have read on other websites. At this point I question if you ever even fired a shotgun.

  • @CaneFu That 4-1/2 is for a 12 gauge shotty, dumb ass. Your .410 is going to penetrate even less. So that 3 inches is just an educated guess :/. And beyond that you're just putting words into my mouth.

I mean, when you're so pathetically dumb that you're taking things that i've said WAY out of context, you know you're wrong.

  • @peepeevagi

    "Blah, blah, blah..."

You're only interested in being a troll. I have to get back to work and I recommend you go get yourself a job - you might be less hostile to the world if you do.

  • @CaneFu Lol, i give you legitimate reasoning and you dismiss it simply as "Blah blah blah". You're pretty ignorant. Whatever, have fun dyin when your dumb redneck ass has to face down a six foot five, 300 pound invader. Well, you'd probably be too busy fucking your sister to even notice he had broken in anyway -_-.

  • @peepeevagi You think Birdshot wouldn't take down a 300lb man?.

And you are calling someone else "Ignorant"?.

BTW you used "Ignorant" out of context, you should have said "Arrogant".

  • @CaneFu Seeing as how youtube wont let me post a link, look up "The truth about guns" and their article "Shotgun penetration with various rounds".

  • @CaneFu Shit, have you even bothered to look up the stories of people that survive getting a back full of smaller birdshot? There's a LOT of them, and the people are usually left standing. You could get the first shot off, and the guy could still be alive enough to shoot you back. Your only hope is a good shot directly to the face, which is nearly impossible in a dark house of any size.

  • @peepeevagi

Stories? Yeah, there's a lot of "stories" out there about everything from werewolves to ghosts to bullet proof burglars shot with birdshot - it doesn't mean any of them are true or accurate. I have firsthand experience with my own ballistic testing and hunting experience and birdshot is devastating at close range. Keep reading your stories and watching videos.

  • @CaneFu Here's hoping your COMPLETELY RETARDED home defence setup stands up against a 250-300lb muscle man. More or less a big black guy.

  • Use Double 00 (ought) buck shot.

It will be lethal for more than 25 yards and at that distance will open up to 15 inches.

Do not rely on shooting from the hip, you need to aim, even with the shotgun.

You do not want wounded crooks.

By the way bird shot is good only at a very short distance and lose momentum very fast.

    IT IS A NO NO.

Your life is in your hands, just take less than a second to be a statistic.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok... shot off a coupple of 00 buck shot 3in magnum's today along with 1560 fps 2 3/4 slug's..... very pleased, no sore shoulder , somthing wrong with my buddy's tristar, those steel shots jus hurt outta his i guess, it's the hard plastic butt pad on it i think. but still like my bird shots, but i might have quite a few 00 bucks laying arround in case its gets nasty out there or in my home for intruders that bare weapons of a simmilar sort...

  • It would be nice to see the energy that's still remaining in these loads once they penetrate the barriers. Certainly they've lost a good bit of their punch by the time they've reached the other side. Wouldn't stand in front of them myself :o) but would be good to know. Thanks for the demonstrations though, they are helpful!

  • i have only shot #8 and # 71/2 bird shot, and a few high velocity steel 3 in mag 1700 fps turkey and duck loads, the steel shots hurt my fuckin shoulder and left a nasty bruise too, but the others barley have any recoil, could shoot them all day, jus got a pack of 5 00 buck shot today we will see how it compares thanx for the vid...

  • Victim of the rumor that birdshot was not powerful. Got 00 buck in both 870s beside the bed (his and hers. Lol). I'm droppin by Wally world wailer today to grab some good birdshot!! Amazing test. And this is the safest option (if there is such a thing...) for someone living in an apartment. LESS of a chance of collateral damage. And will make a HELL of a mess of a potential intruder thru the front door. Bye bye buckshot!!!

  • finally justice is being made for the birdshot.. for home defense it will always do the trick.. buckshots, in my opinion, are more useful for law enforcement

  • Never under estimate bird shot. I doubted it at first but then I shot a coffee can, frozen block of ice, and a wall. 1 little pellet may seem harmless, but think, it's going 1300fps, then multiply that pellet by 350. That's a big f*cking mess

  • The distances inside my house are no more than 20 feet. And I'm surrounded by neighbors. I like keeping three rounds of 7.5 birdshot in the tube. The ones after that are plated 00 buck.... some shit really hit the fan if I need more than those three rounds of birdshot. The side saddle holds 4 more rounds of 00 buck and 2 slugs. I feel pretty confident in my choices, which I think is most important.

  • i still say a turkey load of #4 shot in a 2 3/4" shell will do the job on a bad guy

  • @camerl2009 That sure would !

  • do you have any vids using the hornady ammo?

  • dont use anything below TT for home def. id use buckshot to be honest...

  • @jumpthenoob you dont need to kill ppl 100yards away for home defence. unless you have a really big house.

  • @LateKnight347 100 yards? buckshot goes like 25 yards kid...

  • @jumpthenoob there r videos you can look up where ppl are putting 00buck on target at 80 yards with a 181/2 inch barrel. kill range has to be well over 100 yards. i know that a lead ball isnt going to travel as well as a bullet but its mussel velocity is higher than most hand gun rounds. 1 round of 00buck is like unloading a 380. so hell yes it will kill someone at 100 yards

  • I wonder how much more effective #4 birdshot or BB shot would be than #8 birdshot? I've got an assortment of loads in my closet (everything from #8 to slugs), and I keep switching out what I want to keep in my two home defense shotguns for my primary load. I have VERY thin walls, very small rooms, and neighbors' houses that are very close, so slugs and 00 buck are a no-go, and #4 buck probably is also too much. Can't decide if #4 will work, or if I should step it up to BB size...?

  • great video!!! i use number 8shot for home defence. just woundering at what range where you at and the choke tube.

  • @jimbob19795 We have a setup video on here too (look for indoor wall setup) that shows you exactly how we had setup the *two* walls (front and back). I think I was 7 yards away from the first wall, but check the indoor wall setup vid.

  • @StoppingPowerInfo did you have insolation in the wall

  • @StoppingPowerInfo

Normally there would be other things inside a wall like pipes, wires, insulation and 2X4 studs every 1-2 feet.

  • birdshot is the way to go for home defense...in my opinion. i used to work for law enforcement and received many threats, hence my career change. i told my wife that if someone threatening comes breaking in while i am at work, shoot through the walls. i had birdshot, buckshot, and slug loaded in sequence. just my thoughts. informative vid though!

  • @robertkdavisjr I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you and your wife had that fire lit and now she's better equipped. The Birdshot will definitely incapacitate, if not kill a person behind a wall. It could take about 3 or more slugs to go through a well made front door. Either way, I pity the dumbass who tries anything when wifey's got a shotgun xD

  • Swaaawk!

  • I have never used birdshot before only buckshot and slugs. I was always told it was not powerful enough for home defense so I keep my 870 loaded with 00. Thanks for demonstrating that that they were very wrong.

  • @6117240 No problem, that's exactly what these videos are for...

  • @StoppingPowerInfo What type of choke were you using?

  • @6117240

    Now think about this:

My friend's son lost his eye from one of those pellets that bounced

off the bird, yes, off the bird and got him from 25 yards.

The slug isn't a good idea either. Research the hunting training video where the slug

went though the buck, the tree behind him, and then his buddy standing on the other side. Slugs keep going and going...

  • @stargroove4 I haven't seen the hunting training video but I'm sure it mentioned not to stand in the line of fire and especially don't expect a tree to protect you.

  • @6117240 LOL a 12 guage not powerful enough for home defense...

  • @6117240 Probably cost you more to redecorate that's all :p

  • @6117240 some experts recomend birdshot for home defence because it wont blast through 4 rooms and maybe hit someone sleeping in there bedroom, depending on the load most birdshot (or so im told) has lost most of its leathial potential after penatrating 1 wall and will not likley penatrate a 2ed

  • @6117240 Yeah it's a crock of shit. 7.5 birdshot can put an orange sized hole in someone inside of 10 feet. From what I've seen at that same distance 00 buck has a larger pellet spread within that distance, and could possibly overpenetrate and have some pellets miss your target.

  • @6117240 well think about it bird shot will very much kill you but let alone instantly... forget it its not gonna do a whole lot of damage to the body besides poking tiny holes... but your organs will be mess up but it wont have that "First shot kill"

  • @6117240 also bullet placement is a HUGE factor you can get shot in the arm with a 30-06 round and still be dancing around while you can shoot them with a 9mm in the chest... its gonna have more deadly

  • @6117240 870 FTW!

  • that was a big hole

  • @hppyadam Sure was; just remember that birdshot is one of the most widely available shotgun rounds.

  • @StoppingPowerInfo And very budget friendly too.

  • @StoppingPowerInfo And cheapest. I personally use 12 guage 8 birdshot because of the fact I have less of a chance of hurting people in the house next door lol. But also because it will cause massive internal bleeding on the target.

  • me and my friend just did a similar test,we put a carhart heavy jacket about 15 feet from us and shot it with a 2.75" low brass 7.5 birdshot round all the pellets went through all layers of the jacket and out the other side! so when someone tells you those rounds wont go through a jacket or sweatshirt they are wrong.

  • genius of destruction

  • try some 00 buckshot next time its amazing

  • We have a buckshot video, just look at the related videos :-).

  • @StoppingPowerInfo hahah yah i just saw it we just went and shot a bunch of shit with buckshot we have some videos check out my vid of buddy shooting 2 double barrels both triggers at same time

  • @chevguy502 we tried those too,the oo buck and the slug tore through the coat at just about any distance.

  • @chevguy502 we tried those too,the oo buck and the slug tore through the coat at just about any distance.

  • those r fun

  • Wit a 10 gauge an that small of a shot, it mite be possible, but like u said...impractical. Hahaha

  • I know this will probably be impractical, but could loading a 10-gauge 3-1/2" magnum with 2-3/4 oz. of #12 birdshot mean a group of up to 3 or 4 ft? I know it depends on the barrel length, the weight of the ammo, the choke tube, and the brand of ammo, but could it get that big of a spread?

  • Just curious Why would you want a 4 ft group with a 10 gauge and what would be the point of loading such a cannon with a midget #12 load?

10 gauge is the most unversatile shotgun caliber and is designed mainly for long range instant death on giant birds.

  • it's like a wall of death and you could kill like a small group of ducks with one shot. the tiny #12 shot in a 10-gauge 2-oz load would equal 4600 pellets, meaning literally a wall of lead

  • on my skkeet 12 bore i get 35 inch groups at 40 yards

  • Looks like 7 1/2 load....

  • I did almost the same kind of test with 1-1/4 remington pheasant on a solid one inch thick piece of wood from about 20 feet. blew a 4 inch hole clear threw it. the way my house is set up it would be easier for me to let him come to me instead of trying to find him or them. The distance i would have to shoot from my bedroom door woud be about 20 feet or less.

  • what if the fucker steals your shit while you're hiding in your room?

  • Wow. I really didn't think #7.5 shot would penetrate that well. Maybe you already said, but I'm guessing that must have been a full power field load (as opposed to target) right? This was at 10 yards? What choke?

  • Yes it was a field load with a Modified choke. 2 3/4" Federal (blue box). Yes, it was at 10 yards -- we have another video of "indoor wall setup" that shows what we did a bit better.

  • Wow, Ive heard buckshot is better and that birdshot wouldnt stop a guy in 1 blow but DAM!...from 10 yds which is like across a room....thats powerful enough. I may be sounding like a p*ssy here but sometimes you dont always wanna kill em. You just wanna put em down incapacitated till police get there. I like the idea posted b4 about loading 1 birdshot then a buckshot if it isnt enough.

What if it was a drunk uncle going home to the wrong house or something? Just saying...

  • If you're interested in reading up on it, I'd highly suggest "The Tactical Shotgun" (search amazon). The author basically says birdshot is decent up to a given range, then buckshot, then slug. Worth the read.

  • I have to use birdshot for defense because, I am in an apartment building. I don't want to over penetrate and hit the guy next to me. I have a 20 gauge.

  • I my opinion if its powerful enough to penetrate a man it will go through walls.

  • @biga816 Birdshot killed 3 gangsters in essex, england in 1995. They died instantly from blasts of it at pb range.

  • Getting shot with birdshot at 20 feet or less will put you down and more than likely kill you if you are hit in the chest or head. Even if you hit an assailent in the arm, hand, leg etc. at close range the damage would be so devastating that it would be over and there is a good chance they would lose that body part. Did you see the hole that the birdshot put through that plywood? Are some of you blind?

  • i no somebody who got shot off a bike in the back of the head with bird shot and live the car couldn't have been more than 5 ft away if i wasn't there to witness it i wouldn't believe so i don't expect y'all to

  • @Roberthurz guy are you sure you're not blind? that was drywall, what ? what? yeah drywall.

  • @lordYodie I'm just not that bright... I can still see but sometimes my words get scrambled. :0)

  • Birdshot isn't considered powerful enough for self-defense (against unarmored targets) unless at ranges of less 30 feet, since it only penetrates 3", but logically, it could quite likely cause severe and disabling pain, and if you aimed for the head/neck, would probably kill by shredding the throat and the arteries there.

  • I love my shotgun, however my home defense weapon is my .357 Taurus snub.

  • Personally, I prefer a shotgun. Buckshot has more stopping power, having 9+ chances to hit something vital, and you're more likely to be accurate with a long gun in a panic situation.

  • That is true, however I am a lot more experienced and comfortable with the magnum.

  • Hmm and they say birdshot can't kill you.

  • even a bb gun can kill you. Americans are crazy.

  • i was watching mythbusters and if you have three pizzas inside of a thermal case, that can save your life from that :P

i think thats what they mean by birdshot not being about to kill you.

    hehe

  • Hmm if you shoot a man in the chest with this inside of your house usually close range it would not kill him.

Hmmm that much trauma to the longs would not kill a person ok if you say so.

  • Wow google man killed from bird shots. I guess all of the people that has died from birds shots are not real.

    hehehe

  • bird shot could tear you up if you arent protected.

  • Birdshot will turn you into hamburger!

  • Bird shot does not penetrate nearly as much as buck shot, and therefore causes more superficial wounds. It can still easily kill someone, but if I were loading a shotgun for personal defense, I would choose buck because it will do a better job at destroying the central nervous system, dropping my target faster.

  • Then again, if you live in a house with your family & someone breaks in you could easily shoot through the wall & kill someone you love with buckshot. As you said before, birdshot doesn't penetrate as much as buckshot, & as I said before... birdshot will turn flesh into hamburger meat.

  • If I was shooting to kill though, my first priority would be dropping the person in one shot, because if I was shooting at him then he would have to be armed. And if he is armed and invading my home then not dropping him would be bad.

  • Well watch this video & tell me if you think you'd drop from the birdshot. I think I would.

  • Studies have shown that buckshot is more effective. Birdshot has a high probability of killing someone, but its not the absolute best tool for the job. Dick Cheney shot a 78 year old guy with birdshot and he lived.

  • I know someone who was hit buy an ak47 round and lived.

He was shot in the arm...

  • @OutdoorsBlackMan My great uncle got shot in the ass by one back when he was in Nam, he still moves around and is in great shape today

  • lol cool

  • now imagine that hitin a human torso. everyone thinks that buck shot is better for self defense, is it true?

  • I really recommend reading "The Tactical Shotgun" for further info...check it out on amazon.

  • That's a debate that can last hours. Distance, and spread are the best factors in determining whats suitable for you. But obviously, buckshot packs a punch better than a birdshot. But it's still shotgun ammo, people have died from rubber ball shooting shotgun shells and beanbag shooting shotgun shells.... So the lethality factor is always there. Be safe, be careful, and long live the 2nd amendment. ( =

  • @12GaugeLosAngeles I'm pretty fucking sure, that this birdshot would penetrate the lungs and therefore be absolutely and 100 % fatal up to 40 meters... So I agree with you :) And if someone says :" Hell, birdshot can't do shit, duuude", then he is free to prove it on himself :P

  • Bird shot will leave a shallow but gruesome wound. Buck shot will penetrate deeper therefore hitting more vital organs. If you want to kill someone buckshot. If you want to ruin someones day bird shot. My 12 gauge is loaded with a round of bird then buck. If I ever need to use it and the attacker is still coming after me when hit with the bird shot I have the buck shot to stop him. Just use a larger bird shot size.

  • I was surprised. When I saw birdshot I had the impression of "=\" on my face, then I see this.

  • wow thats pretty devastating.

  • Holy... thats alot worse then i was expecting.. lol

  • wow, how close are you to the wall??

  • 10 yards. See our other video on here: "Indoor Walls setup".
