Im not going to fill my comment with allot of the "you should do this and try that" stuff, but what I do have to say is it is really awesome that you playing and working hard at it. I think this performance is amazing and look forward to future videos '...'
Your footwork is sloppy.. Do some exercises that'll help improve your gallops and your footwork in general, you tend to go off even though you can't hear the bass drum to well.. but you can clearly see you're struggling and you can hear it at some points. I'd look into investing in a mic setup so you can mic your kit too so you can get the clarity of what you're playing
good work man but you need to start hitting... there are some songs were you obviously need to keep quite like most jazz songs but in this song i would be thrashing the cymbals remember drumming is almost as much about the visual aspect than the playing... if the drummer looks bored the crowd will be too
@MultiDrummerboy123 what can i say except i have a great mom and dad ! my dad does all the work himself . can't wait till he finishs my newest snare !
@herbiedrumr369 thanks herbie for your support ! believe it or not i am still working on the song ! now that teach is back he pointed out what i was doing wrong and made me correct it , so as soon as i get it perfect i'm gonna do it again but it will be special the third time around :) ! i'm working on another kamelot cover also so stay tuned !
@07ssmonte kewl kewl, i got cha back M.C. cat r act.. BUT i do see a thing or tew, i will send ya a mesg on, but not that it will help or hurt but "booboo" we gonna put some chucks on dim feets of yours :p
@07ssmonte the point isnt to play the song exactly, the way Kamelot performs it is a 'snapshot' of the song at that point in time, they dont even play it the same live, they mix it up and try things differently while keeping the overall 'feel' the same. So when you cover a song, it's much more fun to add your own feel to it, it also vastly increases your improv skills
@IcarusComplexBand thanks for your comment i really appreciate it . i do understand were you are coming from and there are actually many little differences in the way that i played this . if you listen to the cd version you will pick them up right away . casey grillo is my teacher so if anyone would know about this and any other kamelot song it would be him . and you are correct , he keeps the main parts of the song but does change little things depending on his mood !
@IcarusComplexBand also i noticed that when people do actually improvise a song they get blasted about not doing it " exactly " how the original drummer did it ! so it does kind of make it hard trying to decide what i thinks sounds cool and whether to change the way the song is played . have a g-day mate ! ha! ha! ha! :)
@07ssmonte not all the time, have a look at Cobus, he's probably the most popular drum cover personality on here, and he's one of the biggest improvisers i have ever seen.
@IcarusComplexBand i understand what your saying , but cobus and a few others like jimmy kadesh (sp.) have A LOT more experiance than me so they know how to make it all fit . but since you mention improvising did you happen to check out my boogie woogie vid ? that whole song i improvised and yet no one has said anything about great job improvising ! maybe its the choice of song or maybe i'm not so good making stuff up . i don't know ...... again thanks for watching . jennifer
Definitely not bad! So you got a lil mistakes with the timing here and there, but you definitely did superb for your age. Thumbs up! =)
