The difference between Latvians and Lithuanians is that only Lithuanians hate Poland.

Sorry for you... nobody hates Poland in novadays Lithuania. We have had common history and always cooperated, not fighted. Of course we Lithuanians and Polish recognise the ocupation of Vilnius as a bad moment, but it was a hundred year ago, now it is over, and Polish people are treated as friends. What we hate is some arogant individs, who hate Lithuania's independence.

The problem 90 years ago was that polish-speaking people (in that times majority of Vilnius/Wilno and the country nearby) were Poles. For Lithuania they were "polonised Lithuanians". You were right- their antestors few centuries earlier were Lithuanians indeed. But in the early 20 century most of them had sense of belonging to polish nation. They didn't want to be forced to use their antestors' language and culture.

It's like the case of american Negroes: now they belong to american community, they use english. And they wouldn't be happy if somebody forced them to start using their antestors' from Africa languages.
