There actually are scientists who believe that ( with extended versions of the standard model ) this "thing" might actually end up creating a black hole right here on earth.

other scientists say that if that turns out to be right those black holes will probably disappear quickly by means of hawking radiation. and yet other scientists argue that hawking radiation hasn't been proven enough to be sure that we are save.

but i guess we'll find out soon enough ;)
