  • In the scrum shown, the number 8 enters the scrum late, the tight head (number 18 in the video) has his right hand on his knee while he should haveit fasing front ready to touch and grab the other pack, the first row knees should be almost touching the ground so its more difficult to other pack to entry well the scrum and push them back

  • Im 18 yeras old, I've played as hooker for 10 years (I play since i was 7 actually). First of all, If you want an offensive scrum the loose head (1) should be a bit more forward than the hooker (2) and tight head (3), this way the scrum can turn the way you want and the hooker have more space to hook the ball and the tight head is best positioned to resist the push from the other pack while the hooker and loose head push the other team

  • Not too bad. The front could have squatted a little deeper. U'd want ur shoulder to be as low as possible without getting lower than ur hips (for very very advanced front rows) if possible so ur body drive is horizontal and thus transferring all the momentum forward on the engage.

The best scrum I've seen was from Leicester where the hips and shoulders of 8 forwards were in a straight line and the opposition got pushed bk 3 feet instantly on the engage.

  • FAIL !!!!

  • ehm... I think that, nah, frikk it. My youtube name says it all.

  • Why did this give me a boner?

  • These aren't offensive tactics, this is what you HAVE to do.

  • worst scrum ive possibly ever seen? 8 man is wayyyyyy to stretched out, the tight 5 aren't getting low enough and their backs are starting to curve. and that scrum half.... oh my god he took the ball off the 8 so horribly. I'd be so happy if someone tried to throw a pass out on me like that in game. it would be a beautiful grab and run....

  • @demosthenets cant deny the bad pass, but all the tight five need to be level to produce a solid pushing force. If the front row cant get lower, the second row going lower would destroy the scrum.

  • @AlexIsTheGrunge r u saying that the front row shouldnt get lower? and r u saying their second row is low enough?!? cause both r incorrect

  • @IronMaiden3223 Im saying that IF the front row CANT get lower, the second row going lower will unravel the entire scrum.

  • started on Rugby this past week... its awesome, I'm full of bruises, shoulders aching, everything hurts, but I can't wait for the next practice! BEST collective sport EVER!

  • these guys have horrible body positions

  • hi i never played rugby before but done a lot of other sports, going to 1st training session tomorrow :) thanks very much for taking the time to put these videos up etc. will let you know on my progress :) cheers :)

  • @liz1mac i warn you... the techniques taught by this person will get you hurt badly in a game.....

  • They are teaching kids who know nothing about rugby the basics you idiots.

If you're in the first IV, or playing for your county then don't watch, don't comment or make a better instructional video yourselves.

  • @gpfwestie

    XV you idiot.

You can tell I flunked Latin.

  • @gpfwestie i get what ur saying and i agree but there somethings in there that they should not be saying or doing

i would say this is better suited for people watching than ppl playing

  • this videos only are made for girlfrinds that dont understand anything of rugby

  • that scrum is going to get destroyed . . . lol

  • Thanks for putting these videos up, it makes me understand the game better when I go to watch my boyfriend play :-)

  • im mario

  • the loose head prop has the hardest job because the front row do most the pushing and he also has to balance moe because tight head prop has someone either side of him to lean on.

  • as a preffered loose head the balancing isnt so hard because you're bound in and tight you're more likely to get lifted up which really really really sucks

  • @ryandav08

Not really. I've played both side: a loose head pretty much takes the initiative to attack while if a tight head gets turned he gets squashed like a lemon and your entire scrum goes pear shaped.
