  • how many decibels is the powerblock?

  • hi man!!!!!! what outputselect to the gt6 boss use? use nomal imput to the create amp?

  • Killer pentatonic riffs with double stops! You're a great player.

  • When you said no knobs get effected, how do you control the volume?

  • Did I hear kid's voices in the background? Dude, please don't get defensive, but maybe you didn't realize that kids who grow up around second hand smoke end up with a lot more health problems than kids who breath clean air. Please do them a favor and step outside to smoke.

  • Great video & great topic. Well done.

  • that sounds fuckin great

  • hey dude ! did u know were I can get parts for the powerblock?

mine fell off and the gain button broke. any sugestions ? i'll

    apreciate it

  • So, you still usin' the head? Where'd you find the info you mention? I'm having a hard time finding anything on the head.

  • Hey! Great playing.

Have you ever used the PB to power PA speakers through a mixing board? I am looking for a light setup for an acoustic solo/duo setup, and heard the PB might work. How would you set up a PB as a PA power amp?

  • hey, umm, Ive inserted a cable to the Powerblock headphone jack then connected it to an input of a 15 watts fender amp. Will it get burnt or sumthing?

  • no, since the sound coming out of the headphone jack is only line-level, the amp wont get burnt

  • This is a really useful video- thanks

  • Sounds really good bro!!

  • Hey thanks for the reply, I too have 5 main patches on my gt-6, but lately Im digging the nasty/punchy sound of the 'high gain' patch. A gibson flying v on that patch thru a powerblock has to be intresting...nice Kelly by the way

  • I do wonder if you like the patch on the gt-6 called 'high gain' thru the power block set up. I think that the gt-6 is the shit and I am sure the ones that follow it is even better. Am I correct in understanding that you can not use the eqs thru the RCA?? Have a good day

  • It's alright... I dont use anyone elses patches on the GT6... I have about 5 I use and that's about it. I dont have much use for more than a few "all around" tones... Right now my fave amp model on it is Lead Stack with my pre and post EQ setup it just sings with gain for days!

The EQ knobs on the front of the amp dont work for the RCA connections. All those connections do is run clean and at full power. Everything is controlled on the GT6 when hooked up that way... including master volume.

  • Sounds great man. How long have you had it, do these things last? I wanna get one but I'm hesitant cause I hear they break down a lot.

  • I have had it for about a year now. I havent had any problems with my unit at all. The knobs dont scratch, and the unit doesnt overheat like I have also heard of... remember though... some people just treat their gear like shit and blame it on the gear. They were made in China for Crate, but isnt everything else made in China? They are simple and rock solid... I would use this as a backup for a larger more expensive amp if I had one... I'd gig without a backup just using the PB ;)

  • Thanks for the info man, I think I'll be picking one up soon. :)

  • I was also wondering why u Use The Rca Jacks with the Gt-6 Versus the 1/4 Guitar Cable ?

  • Using the CD Input on the back of the amp bypasses the speaker sim circuit that is built into the PB. It is designed to go with the matching "modeling" 1x12's. Using the CD in's gives you a clearer output without the need to totally re-EQ everything to compensate for the built in, nonstoppable speaker sim... The sim is great for plugging out into a mixer or for direct recording... otherwise I would have liked a switch to turn it off...

  • I use A power Block with A Gt8,& 2 Peavey4x12 Cabinets,& I use The powerblock's Balanced Xlr Out,into the PA mixer,& it So Fuking Sick, the powerblock is an awesome piece,Ideal for the Gt-8 Or any other processor,I used to Play a Boogie Head with a Custom pedal board, with a bunch of wires,Now The Gt-8 The Powerblock,& For Cables,

  • is this better than a line 6 spider III ???

  • pretty cool device

  • pretty cool device

  • That sounds so sick! I just bought a powerblock, and its in the mail right now, so I'm pretty excited. One question though: How are you hooking your GT-6 into the RCA inputs? Does the boss have RCA outs, or are you using some kind of an adaptor. I have a vox tonelab, but it has digital and 1/4 inch out, so what do you recommend?

  • use 2 instrument cables from the line outs of the gt-6 to get a stereo sound. than get a 1/4" to RCA adapter and plug the two cables into the 1/4" slots of the adapter. Then get RCA cables and hook them up from the adapter to the powerblock.

  • This thing is a good back up at best.

  • LOOK!!! its john petrucci!! XD

  • Nice playing! I run a boss GT3 into my powerblock. Our set-ups are not too different.

  • My Powerblock is coming in the mail soon (eBay). I have had a GT-6 for a long time and couldn't get good sounds out of it until finding out about the Return Only method. I love it now!

I can't wait to hear the results once everything gets plugged in. I may post a video.

Anyway, do you ever use the Distortions, rather than the preamps? If so, should I use the JC120 clean setting, followed by a distortion setting?

  • I do use the distortions WITH the preamps! This is how the big boys do it, like Satch, Vai, and just about anyone who played in the 80's. Typically I choose a pretty hi gain sounding amp, and then throw a tube screamer model in front of it in the FX chain. Just remember on the distortion models... LESS IS MORE! I typically use a TS with the gain @ 20, and the Level @ 70.

  • your playing makes it sound good, but my homie had one and it was pretty weak sounding, doesn't get very loud either

    thanks thou

  • It gets plenty loud! If plugging into the front, it only gets loud if you CRANK the gain and volume knobs. Not very useful for being loud when clean. Also, I run mine @ 150w Bridged Mono... that makes a HUGE difference! I was running mine @ 75w Stereo in the video. Later on, it will probably become my backup instead of my main amp, since gig money will probably replace it with a nice head.

  • great info

    you should do more reviews

    keep it up!

  • nice review...thanks

  • now, do the flexwave amp heads work pretty much the same way?

  • You would be better off with a FW head if you dont already have the stuff to make your own reverb and hi-gain distortion sounds. But, unlike the FW head, you can make this thing sound totally sweet by tossing a Tube Screamer in front of the gritty pre-amp section and get a warm tube-like distortion like a hot rodded marshall JCM800. At least that is what I have heard it compared to.

  • sounds pretty good! $50 for the anp? wow, where?

  • Private seller... Only played the thing out of his house for a gig once. But before Musician's Friend ran out of stock, they were blowing these out at $50 and they also had the 112SL Cabs I mention for $100 a pop!

I missed out on that deal, so I couldnt pass this one up. Check eBay for a cheap PB!
