You don't need to press both the shield and rod button at the same time...just hold the shield out and hit the rod button twice...

@stickdudex Negative. As a matter of fact, only the blue ones dropped the shield for me. As a rule rare item drops are directly influenced by luck. Try using a max stat luck code and watch what happens :)

Hey Bro you forgot to mention the Bat wing Attack Spell thing. Hold on the X button and then go up to back all the way to forward and then in an almost circle motion and then release the X Button and you will go flying in a nearly invincible smashing wing flight forward. Cost 8 Mana

Hey Bud I do have a question. What is that thing that the Shield Rod can do on it's own? (press back to forward and square or circle button) The Shield Rod makes this little gear thing appear in front of you but I can't figure out what it is supposed to do. Okay Although Holy Rod doesn't have the same attack power it could be more powerful then your Jewel Knuckles in some situations dew to its holy powers. As well as it's special attacking skill.

Correct, however Alucard has been sleeping for a few centuries so he probably forgot how. Of course, its just the obligatory gameplay element much like how Samus loses her most powerful weapons at the beginning of each Metroid.

I think one of the more important Shield Rod combos is with the Alucard Shield. It gives ALL effects from the specific named shields like Dark, Knight, Medusa, etc etc. It's actually extremely useful because it has the effect of the Medusa shield in that it does good damage. Plus with anything you hit you can health and a heart. You can actually kill Dracula in just a few seconds with it.

@Lucardsan All familiars level up for each thing you kill. It doesn't matter what you kill, Medusa heads, werewolves, armor lords, each kill just counts for one point.

Note that the Knight Shield shield rod special actually gives you a bonus +20 to attack.

The three forms in this game (bat, mist & wolf) remind me of part of the intro to Rondo of Blood: "Able to

transform into a bat, wolf, or mist;" . . . Wonder if they thought about that when creating this game.

Listen to the intro to Rondo of Blood (German or English, if possible) it does say "turn into a wolf, bat, or mist . . ." that's exactly what Alucard can do in this game. . . .

The problem is that area only has the Blue Medusa Heads which cannot petrify you. You need to kill the Yellow Medusa Heads (Will Petrify) for the Medusa Head Shield.

Actually that area does have yellow Medusa heads, just not many, and the blue Medusa heads do actually drop the shield too.

yeah, I got mine from blue medusa heads after about 3 hours worth of killing... :( lotsa wasted time... but I was sick and bored, so it was kinda worth it! it was spread over my 3 day long playthrough for the 3rd or 4th time though...

Hey, I've been watching this series and I've managed to get one by letting them hit me over and over, so after being struck by about 20 I killed one and eventually i got the shield.

Not really. While there's a crap ton of weapons in the game, there really isn't a whole lot of variation between them unlike some of the later Castleroid games. You pretty much are limited to Swords, Daggers, Maces, and Fist type weapons.

@marcusfenix21 Well you can get the Shotel which is kinda like Death's sickles (those lil baby scythes flying around). It acts more like the cross, but you can get some distance between you and the blade(s) then turn to bat and they'll randomly move around like Death's sickles. That's as close as it gets >_>.
