Sat in a car as the storm clouds gathered. Have never seen such ominous, sausage-shaped grey-white-black clouds before. Curously, Yahoo! obtained on Monday, June 8, 2009 (the day before) a photo taken June 20, 2006 by Jane Wiggins from a downtown office building in Cedar Rapids IA, and the news report at Yahoo! indicated that what Ms Wiggins and a host of DC-area residents saw two days ago may become "the first new clud type to be recognised by scientists since 1951."

I was driving to work up Rt. 123 through that.

Just before I got to 123 itself, I was heading north and 3 lightning bolts struck simultaneously, somewhere around Lorton.

I witnessed this in Baltimore. At a point the storm was right on top and the clouds ridiculously low and rotating then in the middle one eye where light would shine through. Then lightning hitting every building and vapor rotating upwards from ground to cloud. The most insane beautiful thing I've ever seen.

I saw that huge line of storms in DC the other day on the radar

Well last night in NYC it felt like WW3, last night was the 9th so this had to be the same storm.

There was thunder and lightning for like 2 hours non stop and it was so bad, almost all the car alarms on my block were going off.

At one point, the bang & lighting was so loud and close that I got ringing in my ears. Ive never heard thunder that strong. I was actually scared...
