There is not going to be a ninth series. Back to earth was a 3 part one off as part of an anniversary special, which DAVE paid a fair chunk of money to the Producers and gave them like a 2 month window to produce it, way too short.

The earlier 'planet' shot is either from the Series VIII or Bodysnatcher DVD extras.

Yep, it's official. Dave (the Freeview channel) has commissioned a new two-parter, a Making Of and a clip-show. More details can be found at either the official Red Dwarf website or at Ganymede & Titan (fansite).

ETA is probably early next year. But possibly in time for Christmas. The official RD site updates every Friday, so there might even be some news tomorrow.

Pinnacle 11. But there seem to be some audio issues when finally uploading to YouTube.

For example, on other P2P videos, you might hear little audio clicks or volume issues from time to time. For some strange reason, the source videos all sound great, but as soon as Youtube reformats them, they start to break up -- there's no worse sound in the world than digital clicks..!!! ;-/

I can personally recommend Ulead as a great alternative. People also rave about Sony Vegas, but I haven't used it.

Sorry, I don't. But Windows Movie Maker has its moments. There's really not many differences when you compare it to the various edit packages that are available to buy out there.

Probably, the most important factor to consider when editing is the actual computer you are using.

High-spec PCs, for example, will help to speed things up (such as rendering), but will not necessarily improve the quality of the final video clip.

Speed is essential when applying those quick trims and corrections.

The model shot starting at 2:00 is from a documentary on the Red Dwarf Bodysnatcher DVD collection (I think, called 'Re-Dwarf'), and is said to be the only footage that was ever shot for the Red Dwarf: The Movie.

3) Too much clips obviously recycled from VIII which wouldn't happen in a real trailer.

4) There isn't going to be a series IX. Not to burst your bubble or anything.

6) Why was the Series II clip in, out of sync no less?

1) Official Series VIII promo is an extra 5 seconds longer.

2) There's a YouTube upload issue with the audio - I've heard the original, and it's faultless.

3) There are only two recycled clips from Series VIII - the rest are from the deleted scenes (makes sense to reflect the most current RD style).

4) Robert Llewellyn is making an announcement on the 24th Aug, regarding more Dwarf in the near future.

5) Hattie may possibly return.

6) Series II clip audio is from an entirely different scene.

Getting back to earth wouldn't be the mission now though, as they had a time machine in Tikka to Ride that allowed them to return to earth at any point in history, but they didn't bother after getting the curry they wanted. I think the cliffhanger of series VIII is as good (bad) an end to Red Dwarf as any now that it has lost its purpose, and I'm actually one who hopes it never comes back.
