it wont shift into second because you need to either tweak the gears in the transmission, to shift sooner ooor ajust your carb to a leaner mixture to go a little faster.

but landing on the nose like that, i dont think you would have broken anything, maybe cracked a part of one of your front A-arms but ive landed nose first and broken nothing. ive driven it 40mph into solid granit and have it drive off with just scratches on the bumper.

There are pros and cons to each, Having owned both I would definatly say Savage flux is better, but it is more expensive to get into, li-pos etc. You also have to be knowledgeable with them because the batteries are dangerous.

I would recommend the Nitro for you since you are asking which to get. Implying this is more or less a *Newer* hobby for you. Goodluck! You'll have fun with either choice.

Good review.... Can't go wrong with a savage if your after a truck you can beat up. I have both the savage xl 5.9 and savage x 4.6 (older version) and when both engines are tuned to their optimum performance the 5.9 is more powerfull with a higher top speed but, the 4.6 is a better all round truck that has plenty of power and has better control in the air. As for the 5.9 overheating from some of the other comments??? I live in Wales in the U.K. where it rains 99% of the time (or seems to)...

Don't get the K5.9 engine. Buy another F4.6. They are very easy to tune and easier on fuel. The K5.9 is harder to tune and to me is overrated. The F4.6 is plenty of engine for the savage x. Check out my videos and subscribe.

Glad but not surprised to see you are liking your nitro beast,Such a great truck..

My 3speed gearbox isnt using 2nd but its fine really,the cause could be the 20/44 clutch/spur im using.

@007FILBO I honestly prefer nitro in many respects. I know that I will never buy a electric car that requires two batteries ever again. I will just buy the nitro version if there is one available. I just sold my HPI Vorza, and I think I might buy that new Losi Mini 8ight, and The HPI bullet in either nitro or electric. I am not sure which one I will get.

The only thing I have done to my Savage is strip the shitty stock spur gear. I replaced it with a hardened steel one.

That steel spur sure will hold up but i prefer the lightweight plastics myself,The 44T only comes in steel.You should try it if you want major backflip speed =)

I have this same truck and haven't seen one single review that has anything negative to say. HPI did this whole thing right, from the ground up. The TVP's, the ease of access, the high quality of the parts; it's just an awesome piece of engineering!! I did have to replace my one-way bearing (for the roto-start) a couple of weeks ago, but it was so simple I had it done in 10 minutes. Good review.. Take care..

You didn't blow the diff. When you were showing the wheels you spin the tire and the other one was spinning in the different direction, which is the sign of a healthy diff. As for the 5.9 having more power... 4.6 will outrun 5.9 all day every day. Bigger doesn't mean better and more powerful in nitro world ;)

@braco222 I am not sure what I did. I didn't really look at it very much. I always assume diffs when I break something on a jump. It is usually the first thing to go. However, the 5.9 does have more top end than the 4.6, but the 4.6 will provide more low end power quickly. All said and done...I will take the 4.6 :) Thank you for watching!
