I'm not a professional nor going to make this a job when I grow up I would buy this as a hobby because I know what I'll be and the job will be boring, but has wonderful benefits liek longer vacation soo I do need a hobby like filming.

@LaDolceLingua DSLRs are great for low light (with the proper lens of course) and getting super shallow DOF. The don't handle fast moving shots, or fine patterns very well. The XH-A1 won't get as shallow a DOF or have the ability to perform as good in low light, but it can handle fast moving shots and doesn't have as big of an issue with moire/aliasing. Having one of each could give you some good diversity. From what I hear they mix pretty well.

Like the camera..........BY the way, what if anything, do you know about the panasonic ag dvc20p?

I bought it last year, and it has 3 ccd's but only a 1/8" size to them. The lens is also a Leikos;;;;they also gave me a 43mm zeikos wide angle lens.....bottom line; I see so many other better looking videos and clarity over my 1500 dollar camcorder....tks; torchidman

They're as legit as it gets. Most likely one of the best, if not the best selection in the world. Send for their catalog. The 2009 catalog I have is 455 pages. Excellent company. Lots of stuff you couldn't find anywhere else. Pages and pages of pro quality and broadcast quality. Just don't expect to find discount store prices.

Guys just got the Canon today It's amazing light weight small and did i say amazing!!.. Some Problems I'm gonna point out right away

The DV tape release button is in a bad location, its located right by the zoom in/out on the left side of the cam, Your fingers will pry hit this several times.

The built in mic, Get a shotgun right away you need a Shotgun mic if you want the best quality.

This cam is amazing and I'm not disappointed at all. Get this cam its crazy amazing.

This is an excellent camera and B&H Photo is the best place to get it.

I own the original XH-A1 and its a great camera, but the only problem with the camera is that it can be very front heavy!! All nature footage and band footage (except the paul rich video) on my page has been shot on the XH-A1. The Nature footage had very little post production Color Correction. Most of the colors you see on my nature footage were manually altered in the camera itself. Also the new film coming out next month Crank 2 was shot on this camera. I recommend trying this camera.
