  • check on 3:27 hahahaha

  • "Moe pleaded with Harry Cohn to allow Howard some time off upon discharge to regain his strength. Cohn would not halt the production of his profitable Stooge shorts and flatly refused Moe's request. Author Michael Fleming stated that "...it was a disastrous course of action."

  • Yeh I know half the vid's been cut out, but at least this one was done right for a change. Thanks for posting this.

  • happy birthday larry fine rip

  • M: You're in the moola, kid!

    C: I am?

    M: Yeah!

C: Then why am I bothering with you 2 hobos?

ROTFLMAO! Give it to 'em, Curly!

  • "We're filthy with dough!"

    "You're filthy without it..." ;)

  • I believe this is the first episode filmed right after Curly's first stroke. You can hear it in his speech. It's a little slurred and slower.

  • Here we get a good look at Joe Palma, who plays the maid. He is the "fake Shemp" in several of the shorts after Shemp died.

  • THAT WAS CURLY

  • i knew that wasnt curly i love curly rip. favorite line "wake up and go to sleep" lol

  • @MizzPrizz09 RIP all The Stooges. Glad you're enjoying it!

  • @MizzPrizz09 me to been saying that for years lolo

  • @MizzPrizz09 Who wasn't Curly? What do you mean?

  • the stroke had so much effect that his voice got deeper

  • This is probably my favorite stooges episode.

  • 4:02 "Don't shake, take it easy...."

    =(

  • 3:42 that's not curley running. Sad seeing him decrease in health and yet still so dedicated. RIP

  • Holy crap. THATS SHEMP!

  • dang!!! I didn;t even noticed that! wow. yeah, this was one of his las appearances soon after he got his first mild stroke. RIP . they were and will be the best in comedy

  • Curly already had his mild stroke when they've filmed this short

  • Nice catch. Completely missed that.

  • LOL @ Larry pulling his hair out around 4:30.

  • Curly started to look really really ill like this film. Most of his shorts in 1944, shows that Curly losing his trademark high pitched voice. Every time curly got hit by object, he did little to no scream at all. the director won't even let him have a break so curly can't have a chance to recover. Which sucks. R.I.P three stooges.

  • I thought Curly's performance in the pre-haunted house scenes were similar to his performances on Idiots Deluxe but when they arrive at the haunted house was where you really begin to notice Curly's health problems

  • The film made just before this one was Idiots Deluxe. That film showed that Curly was going downhill as he was losing his trademark high voice and his actions were slowing. This film shows a shadow of the old Curly. From this point forward he only got worse until his crippling stroke on the set of Half Wits Holiday. Check out the nice write up of Curly on Wikipedia for more details.

  • Much appreciate the info...it makes perfect sense and shows one how much his art is so dependent on the full measure of one's mental and physical skills, not an easy thing to imitate, a lot to learn and a lot of inborn talent all working in perfect synchronicity, the lack of which made manifest by even the smallest of pin strokes

  • @testicularfortitude1 your an over zealous windbag...

  • Larry: "We're filthy with dough!

    Moe: "You're filthy without it!"

Larry to Curly: "Haven't we always shared everything you ever owned?"

All three: "Let's go and get the moolah"

    LOL!

  • Curly's failing health (physically and his voice) became sadly noticable around this time. Watch him a few years earlier and then from around this period, and it's night and day. It's sad.

  • I agree, this is the first film with Curly where it is obvious that he was not well. He suffered a first of many "mini" strokes which can slow a person down but not totally disable a person. The remainder of his films as seen in the recently released volume 5 are painful to watch as Curly no longer could do his famous high pitch squeal voice or his physical comedy. If you watch closely a stunt double is used in more demanding scenes. A sad end to a great comic.

  • @MisterMasterShafter It's sad, but amazing how funny the Stooges were, even with one of them in a state of severe decline.

  • @chug20 Absolutely.

  • @MisterMasterShafter It was during the filming of this episode that Curly suffered a stoke.

  • @PhillyHorrorExaminer No, that was during 'Half Wit's Holiday' later on....

  • From 3:38 to 3:43 on the part when they're running down the stairs you can tell that it's not Curly

  • yea, he looks sick at 2:13. these guys had all doctor degrees from what I heard. Have be smart to be stupid!

thanks for posting. never can get enough stooges.

    MM

  • I am unsure why, but this episode is edited highly here. Parts missing. Is there a reason?

  • These are minisodes, 5-minute versions of full length tv shows. Yes, 'highly edited' to get them down to 5 minutes.

  • There is something missing. Where can I watch the full version.

  • Good episode although it was sad seeing Curly's health detetorating by this point of his career.

  • I thought he was fine up to the time he had a stroke. I didn't know he worked while he was ill. He does appear to be different from the earlier shorts, almost doen't seem like the same person.

  • I never knew he was having health problems until later, I was shocked about the health problems he was having towards the end of his run with the Stooges.

  • I don't know how accrate it was but Mel Gibson made a TV movie about the stooges a few years ago (the ony stooge biography movie I know of) where he shows Curly having a stroke and Moe having to ask him to sign a release.

Was a pretty good movie, the end shows Moe and Larry best of friends each dying a few months apart.

  • Robert O. LInk ROFL

    bobolink

  • Im scared of the backround when it first starts i close my eyes when it comes on!

  • You could tell Curly was really sick here... poor guy.

  • These guys still make me laugh after all these years!

  • YES ITS MY FAV ONE

  • lol this is one of my favorites.

  • :s What's a lucrecia-borgia?

  • Lucrezia Borgia: historical Italian "femme fatale"with a number of husbands, and a nasty reputation for being ruthless and vain. (Is a distant ancestor of Brooke Shields according to Wikipedia...)

  • she was a mistress of poison's in italy, her family were great assassins.

  • 67 cents! poor guy!

  • NET! Even worse!

  • you got that right

  • 67 cents?!! lol That's not good! :)

  • LOL 67 CENTS.

  • "67 cents" lol

  • we're fithly rich!

    your filthy without it!

    LOL

  • Maybe thats why Curly had all those strokes, the hits on the head finally got to him!

  • All of the hits are faked. Only a few are accidentally real. like when Lary got a pen stuck in his head.

  • And why Larry had less hair as he got older, he tore it all out. j/k

  • how do you have the advertisment on the video page above the word subscribe

    please reply 2 rocker93rock

  • you have to be a partner

  • AAAAAAAAAAAIGH!!!!!!!!!

  • Look! its the death bat from A7X!

  • 67 CENTS?! lol

  • I have this episode on Dvd.

  • 3:40 thats not curly.

  • It almost looked like Shemp was being a body double there. Culry gave it his all but he just couldn't do certain things anymore

  • L: "We're filthy with gold."

    M: "You're filthy without it."

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  • =) Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk

  • 5 stars >.>

  • Wasn't this the first stooge short filmed after when Curly suffering a string of small strokes?

  • I think it was. You can tell. His voice isn''t as high-pitched as it once was and his timing is a bit slow!

  • You can still see some of the old Curly left in this short even though you can tell Curly was starting to sound ill during this time period.

  • Didn't Curly botch up the scene where Moe flicks a light on his head?

  • 67 CENTS!?
