  • im sorry sensei but the kiai sounded like a fart instead of a shout...

  • That's a very nice looking dojo! Obviously a Judo dojo (photo of Kano Sensei) that is shared by other martial arts I'm guessing. It's interesting how the Taikyoku Kata are practiced by some Shotokan schools and not by others. At our dojo we occassionally practice it whereas our Sister dojo in Japan make it part of regular dojo practice. Personally I think what it offers is already there for people in Heian Shodan, so why add potential confusion?

  • make a vid with unsu if you can that kata

  • fuck tomowwor i have the exam for a yellow nooooo

  • 0:32 fall robo kiai =))

  • Me gusto, buena la descripcion

  • that was a nice kata. Im guessing you are a shotokan karateka since this kata is a shotokan kata. In that case try to not pick up your heel at all. you get you power from your heal pushing the ground. Nice kata Osu.

  • You should do it more soft, you have to relax.

  • its the easist move ever anyone could learn that just in 15 min :)

  • oh my goodness this was so hard for me to learn even though its the first one i learned i know every step but i need to keep practicing, because im a yellow belt

  • There was a further error which he made in this video: the kiai on his last move. This kata has only the first 2 kiais which he gave with very little spirit. I agree that he did not turn his head to look when he should have.

  • I trained with Hidy Ochiai....his thing was as you said Mr. West Bella...it's not the head....it's your eye movement. It very rarely in kata made us change our head direction execpt for a few (like 2) katas

  • This is not very good because he forgot a VERY important aspect when doing kata...Head movements

You must look where you are about to attack or block before you move to attack or block...Look at Kanazawa's katas, he is very good at this!!

  • I hear what you are saying, but many Japanese are not trained this way, a head movement is seen as a forced movement and works against the technique you are performing.

So he didn't FORGET, right or wrong he probably did this on purpose. And you are right Kanazawa's katas are good - but he has spent more time with western karate-ka so his kata would reflect this.

    Good training

  • 5/5 exelente no esperaba menos xD!

  • Kata perfomance is the green belt but is very well reference

  • in my opinion he did very well. All he is trying to do is show the movements of the kata. You critics i do not see you doing it. Be real... you tube should not be your main instructor it is good for reference...

  • He makes my version look weak. But at the same time, everyone has their own way of doing it.

  • Ye, u are right. Back leg is not straight enough...

  • nut just back leg

the entire body is not in ballance

  • pretty good

  • nice but isint it supposed to be done with a cressent walk??

  • Hey, very nice! It's the best rendition of Taikyoku Shodan that I've found on YouTube so far.

  • I have to study that!

  • i think everybody that know the name of this kata , studied this kind of martial arts

  • Was that a kiai or a squeezed out fart?

  • this guys a black belt?

    he cant even turn properly

  • errghh LOL. mine sounds like. Ieee

  • gracias por el video!!! me encanta el karate.

  • that kiai sounded like a chicken

  • he dont say kyay,he say ¡¡¡ergh!!!

  • lol you dont say kyay, normally you just kind of scream :D but his was a joke. right.

  • Lol, I was laughing at the kiai too.

  • yeah...the kiai is lol...

  • haha his kia's LOL

  • this is different from the taikyoku gedan that Im learning, it uses the shiko dachi stance, gedan barai, and gedan ken. maybe thats because this is shotokan?

  • probably. what do you do, gojo ryu?

in shotokan (especially in the easier katas) you use the senkutsu dachi a LOT. thats why its so important to have a better stance than this guy.

  • that's it, back leg is not straight and the tecniques are not strong enough. there's a stop before the third oizuki before kiai, it's not a rush. black belt??? naaaa

  • Hell yea not even this kata is easy...

Mistakes such as the wrong moves with the hips or the right position of the back foot usually are completely ignored by beginners

  • my sensei do it whit so much power and nobody in ouer dojo can so then he can...when i look on this all taikyoku shodan on yuotube i can't belive that's this people have black belt.(sorry for mistakes i can't so good englisch)

  • I agree. For those who say that this kata is easy, are very mistaken. Even the practisioner in the video has made a few small mistakes; no one is perfect, and nothing is never easy.

  • It's different from the Taikyoku I had to learn... And it's not as easy as it may seem when your Senseis are two HUGE nitpickers...

  • well.......

  • becouse it's first kata, look at for example at heian nidan :P

  • or unsu, gankaku

  • easy

  • Yes.
