To publicly criticise any art is self promoting. Those whom reflect opinion concerning technique ...."it is artist like Chooka who give you the material in which to study!" This young man is a true artist, not better, not worst, not sculpted, or produced, just natural raw talent. I have seen almost every tuber of his and have read most comments. One thing is for certain "his music inspires creativity!" Wonderful art Chooka, thank you so much for sharing it with the WORLD! Keep Well!
For those criticizing his technique, I don't care if he slaps his dick on the keys. If it sounds good, and you're not cheating, who gives a shit how you go about it?
@RADIOACTIVEBUNY Thanks for your support (I hope this clear example gets the point across to some who consider themselves much higher than simple appreciators of music)...
As a friend of Chooka I would like to say thanks to those supporting him here, he really appreciates you doing that and he is forging ahead with his career regardless of negative feedback from those who think they know more. If you visit my channel 'terpie51' you can see much more recent clips of Chooka playing and giving his gift to others. Thank You
I LOVE YOU CHOOKA, KEEP ON KEEPIN ON AND IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REMARKS. Some people are just jealous and have NO CLUE what it is to live off the land or live somewhere that is far away from the city and have today's things they call necessities. I can't wait to see your music in the USA.
Chooka I just get more emotionally moved everytime I hear your music - I can't describe it - does something incredible to me! I am so addicted to your music. Sigh can't wait to see perform again in 2012!!
Look at Chooka - he is entirely at one with his music. His beautiful facial expressions show this as he plays! Denyer's right on this one - spinetingling performance by one who is destined to be the greatest pianist to ever come out of Australia!!!
Every time I hear this piece it just makes my heart swell, its absolutely magnificent. Superb! Beautiful melodies flowing. Thank you Maestro Chooka.
Although its not shown here Chooka dedicated this piece to his Grandad who died shortly before he auditioned for the show and that is what the swag, the background and the song, True Blue is about....
Hey Chooka fans, he didnt need that stupid show anyway, he's doing fine, performing everywhere in Vic, new CD called "No Worries" available on iTunes. Check it out!
Incredibly done. It's inspiring and comforting to see someone with such talent and improvisational on top of it to do so well under the circumstances. Thanks
@88tim00 seriously, why do people always have to bring justin bieber into other videos that have nothing to do with him, i mean you can, but in my opinion its rude. if you dont like him , just keep it to yourself please,
@tartancase We here is the usa also use insults as flattery like dickhead. It must be a guy thing. Called my best friend since 1972 dickhead & many other things thousands of times.
Those who criticise Chooka's technique, are you comparing him to other teenagers who are completely self taught, have been playing for roughly the same number of years he has and usually prefer to improvise? Any pianists out there, correct me if I don't know what I'm talking about, but isn't it normal for anyone's improvisations to be relatively lacking in structure compared to something that has been painstakingly composed?
Whether Chooka is a bogan or not I think this country should be proud of him as I guess some who call him that are. I'm from Sydney and bogan is relatively new slang here so maybe I should consult an expert on boganism. What exactly are the criteria for being a bogan and how many of them does Chooka fit? If I remember rightly the literal definition of a bogan is a small sidestream, Chooka however has talent more akin to the mighty Murray. Can all bogans tell a bogan from a country boy I wonder?
@DwiteTheSpriteKnight thank you so much for your words mate! You are one who can see through all the stereotyping and other rubbish that people try to impose on other they are jealous of.
I am very proud of Chooka! He has many fans overseas who absolutely love Australia because they see the shining example of us that Chooka is - not only in his amazing musical talent but in his pride in who he is and where he is from, not to mention his beautifully kind and generous heart!
I'd like to hear opinions of well credentialed piano teachers concerning Chooka's skills and creativity too. Millions have enjoyed his music so far. That obviously says a lot regardless of any one opinion Obviously the fact he's self taught and barely seventeen has to be considered. Other than that it amuses me that there are snobs out there who are embarrassed by Chooka's country boy accent. Apart from other reasons why he's not a bogan, what he says proves he has more than musical intelligence
@BIGBEEFYFIST Since I am from the usa I had to look up what bogan meant. found out what it means in your country & all I can say if you consider someone lower class uneducated because they live off the land & have no part of all the toys we have that is a stereo type. Actually he seems like a really nice guy & happy. Not alot of cares in this world for him & since he does not have all the electronic gadgets we all have come to have. He has developed imagination something we all should have.
I'm from the country too though not as isolated like him. Growing up technology was really starting to grow what w/ the internet, emails & all. While everyone else I knew were getting computers & later on cell phones/laptops, we didn't have any of that yet. gadgets, lol.
We eventually got a computer for the business & I didn't even get a cell phone 'til I was in college & that was only b/c I was going a few states away & it was a means of keeping contact since my dad still was not a fan of the computer/emails.
Now I have a laptop for my work & simple cell phone, but still no TV or any uber-hi-tech, lol.
I find it embarrassing to be part of a country of such bogans. This guy can't play music with a structure, or a decent melody, and when this talented but not prodigious kid wins and the rest of the world finds him, it's going to be a slap in the face to find that this guy is NOT a genius, and in all honesty is VERY, VERY flawed.
@Carthsgtr the point is that he learned it all on his own, and with a teacher he could go extremelly far, he is indeed a prodigy, and you are obviously dumb
@Carthsgtr Jealousy causes some people to make comments like yours. If you could play in front of millions of people and sound that good, then you could be celebrated as a genius. Don't you realize that everything comes from our creator?
@Carthsgtr My son won eiste. playing the piano from having lessons. He was very good, but know where near as good as Chooka, the way he plays those keys.
brian and kyle can say stuff like that, and then they kick him off!!! DICKHEADS!! danni is the best judge! this show is about who has the talent, not who has improved the most or who looks the best!! open ur eyes!!
Yes, he is talented but I think he is all BS about making it up on the spot. He blew his cover at 6:12 and then tried to back pedal. He doesn't make his stuff up on the spot. He records all his 'songs'. He said it himself. Obviously if he records his songs, he's going to use them again.
@thegreatman99 When he says "make the thing on the spot" that means he is improving ! He plays a main theme that he thinks about and every performance is different, most of the good musicians or like this
@matchoubuster I think you mean improvising. In that case, that makes more sense. There's a big difference between making pieces up on the spot and improvising. Kind of like the difference between someone making up a dance and someone doing freestyle.
@thegreatman99 I see him play all th time, and YES, HE DOES MAKE UP HIS MUSIC ON THE SPOT, THATS HOW HE KEEPS COMIN UP WITH NEW TUNES ALL THE TIME! HIS TUNES FOR THE SHOW HAVE ALL BEEN FRESH. He can also repeat his tunes again ofcourse, but he likes to keep improving!!!
Well done mate. I hope you win and you've got my vote. I can see it now, a CD called "More Magical then Mozart" or "One of a Kind" and I see your name in the credits section of the next round of block buster movies under music.
