I think its a wonderful tradition and don't care what the neighbors say. Thats like moving into to a house at the end of a runway...then complaining about the noise.
Well, if they are pretending to be historically accurate, why they ignore using the two thick ropes folded on top of the gun, which were used for catching the recoil?
@TheHorn123456 Not really. The gun drill they practice for the public (and which is the bulk of this video) does not involve putting anything down the bore of the gun, as there is no means to really remove anything. The guns are as heavy as a real gun, but cannot be fired and would have to be stood on end to get anything out again.
The gun blast at the end is one of the modified saluting guns (shown being fired early in the video). It fires a blank 40mm cartridge.
This is all fine and good but lets try this with a rolling deck under enemy fire. amidst the smoke confusion and abject mortal terror it becomes another thing all together.
@mwp62 They do, indeed, but only those two modernized guns fire. You can see them firing a 21 gun salute in my other video for a turnaround cruise on June 4th, 2010

This exercise took over one minute to complete. Not too bad, but they need to speed it up a little.

At 2:12 they pur in a iron ball, and at 2:47 they fire it xd I don't want to have a house on the other bank

Does anyone know of a full speed live firing reload.

@cageordie That is a very good question. I believe a good gun crew from about the time that Constitution could do 3 firings in 5 - 6 min.
