@nochey78 I have a better alternative: we get a politician who reduces a small amount of military spending, uses the money to buy up land in montana and start amish communities for the unemployed 99-ers. Slowly but surely we build up the amish communities into a more advanced system, and we fund it entirely by giving tax breaks to corporations based on their contribution. We slowly but surely reduce our military to compensate for lost taxes from this.

Trade and bartering are natural. Indigenous people always had "property" and a means of "trade." These are components of freedom. The freedom to acquire what we desire and the respect of others to leave our property alone (not stealing). Creating true valued currency will eliminate this perpetual need to pay back compounding interest. Much like before central, privatized, planned fractional reserve monetary policies, we were a less corrupt people. We need to reconsider our ways.
Removing the system doesn't solve the problem. Humans are imperfect. In time, those imperfections will concentrate to exercise their flawed beliefs (control, power, greed, enslavement). Thus removing the monetary system solves nothing, because it is merely a manifestation of human immorality. Instead, we should work toward a true value-based currency.
Considering we've ALWAYS lived in scarcity, of course there are problems. We would definitely improve without scarcity. After money is removed, everyone would be educated to live in the new system, thus removing our current flawed beliefs/brainwashing.
While I tend to agree w/ this movie, I take issue with one oversight. It establishes that money and our monetary system is a creation of man, the substance of which holds no value. It goes on to make that case that without such a system we'd be able to establish a virtual Utopian state of being. @nochey78 I have a better alternative: we get a politician who reduces a small amount of military spending, uses the money to buy up land in montana and start amish communities for the unemployed 99-ers. Slowly but surely we build up the amish communities into a more advanced system, and we fund it entirely by giving tax breaks to corporations based on their contribution. We slowly but surely reduce our military to compensate for lost taxes from this.
Encouraging economic collapse won't help.

The zeitgeist movement seems like a wonderful thing but i still have some unanswered questions after looking at the website. with the zeitgeist movement there would be less crime because everyone would have there needs taken care off, however it cannot always be perfect, some people will commit crimes for other reasons based on emotions such as desire and fear. so a example would be what would happen to a person that had for some reason murdered someone? who takes care of the problem?

@spankthamunkey You can't rush a transition b/w a monetary and non-monetary system without MASSIVE depopulation. The video gives insight into the nature of the insanity in our current system, HOWEVER, accepting technology as a form of social development is a false gift. In fact, by starting a government funded, self sufficient amish community for unemployed people, you at least make the transition a safe one, rather than a rollercoaster. High technology requires difficult to obtain supplies.

this is a great documentary..it is ok and i have the right as a human being to question the government..with the religion thing i believe theres two types of ways people use religion. one way is to use religion as a defense mechanism and the other way is to find enlightenment in religion.cuz once u find enlightenment u will accept all religions and say your religion is A way of life not THE way of life

When the power of love overcomes the love of power we will know peace...I think this will only happen when Christ returns. truth be told i enjoyed this as i did the other ones. But i still have my faith in my religion . call me blind call me stupid but
this religion that i follow helps me to be a better person and i find comfort in the deity . iv had experiences in my life that have solidified my faith. also this unified love is a major component in my religion aswell . so as i see it hey i like the ideas and the concepts and i just would like to see this world become a better place.

@gorerilla your right. it's like cancer cells. they overstretch the structure, and cause it to fail. i guess that's a giant flaw in this theory. but if education about the hazards of reproducing are presented to the children of this society, perhaaps they will think twice before concieving a child?

it was a joke man. I don't hate gay people at all. The point I was trying to make is that this is impossible because people will never give up their way of life to change. Doesn't mean I'm not going to try my hardest to get the word out though ;) It is a stretch though thats all im saying.

There are people who think that it's hard to change anything, that there isn't anything we can do because the establishment doesn't allow this. We should never forget that the whole system is man-made. Just as it is being perpetuated, we can refuse to be part of it all the same. Even though we're told we are weak and incapable, people have enormous potential. How about realizing that potential?

The "whole system" is a social construction. Realising this one cant devolve control of the contruction or maintain the status quo. Other options are mere hybrids. The choice is yours, participate or not you still require action.

Precisely. The sole hold up for internal change is the rather weak wall of propaganda and institutionalized beliefs that most people, given the smallest degree of critical thought, have a natural suspicion towards anyway.
Further, tho the opposition toward real global change is daunting, powerful, and merciless, we cant forget that it is inherently fallible, not just created and maintained by men, but greedy, petty men at that. This understanding gives me hope.

If anything, it would make far more sense to assert that people are inherently generous. The free giving of gifts has been a sacred tradition amongst every indigenous and tribal people (which we all once were) that was understood to "be a generating power for good", in the words of the Sioux people.

this isnt the first time someone has proposed a new society where everyone is equal because there is no religion, it fails. fucking epic failure every time. without god there is only men and thats why this notion will fail like all the others. to become a truly advanced and equal society we dont need to reject religion, au contrair we need to embrace it fully not just in part like we have done in the past. if we all tried to live like christ our society would truly be a utopia.

I haven't yet seen any christian who would live his life as Jesus supposedly did. That is a utopia for sure.

some will go out and do all the work but most wont bother and some will try to take power. humans have a herd mentality. as a result theres a mix of different personalities; some have evolved a provider personality; they like helping the others in the pack, some are consumers and about 5% of the population have psychopathic tendancies they tend to cheat their way into positions of power and influence. thats why most bosses are assholes and all our politicians are lying scum, its human nature.

the fictional character of Christ had some good morals yes, but religion itself was made to control the mass into cohesion to something that always ends up in the hands of a few greedy people who want all the power over us. THIS movement actually has NEVER been tried before. all others were either just ideas thought about or they all had their own relativity with religion

im not devout, i didnt always believe in god i didnt have a sudden epiphany, just occured to me studying a secular subject - economics, that the basic principles of a succesful economy were first propounded by jesus. the correlation between the spread of christianity and corresponding rise in living standards and social cohesion in societies. the way the universe is ordered, the way you feel when you see something beautiful or someone you love. theres much more to it than science can explain

Usually many people tend to regard communism as a totally evil thing without even understanding what it is. Well, this is what it is.

This is not communism. Communism may be similar in saying that every one was equal, but what it said and what it practiced are two very different things. Communism was about labor for a rusted and obsolete larger entity, Establishment. This is about love and reaching together for balance and equality for everything, all of existence. Communism focused on the nation as an individual. This focuses on all life and existence as being all one.

communism was supposed to be the answer to all the injustices in society, it was never meant to turn into a dictatorship. it dosent necessarily follow that all communist ideals are wrong, capitalism could learn a few things from the communists; the idea of sharing wealth and working together for the benefit of the country as a whole was noble. discerning and open minded people can see that. its only ignorant people who jump up and down at the mention of the "c" word

I agree that certain amount of socialism is great. But communism, despite it being noble in theory, is a utopia. It's not human nature to live like that and forcing it would be totalitarianism.
I also think that nowadays turning inwards to push only national agenda would not be good. We have global issues to solve, so we should think globally.

To amrwg6111 morals and values would come from the same place they do today. They are internalized. You yourself create your own system of morals and ideas of right and wrong through your own life experience. All religion does is exploit and hypnotize you into adopting another set of values and forcing you to internalize it.

After a lot of excellent perceptions about the corrupt system, the video finally claims that technology will save us. That's the best joke I've heard all week. Our addiction to technology is part of the problem - it's making us lazy, impatient, and irresponsible - like his idea that we won't need laws against drunk driving because a pendulum will pull the car over...he wants our behavior controlled by machines...slavery. And a future with no work? Work is a good thing when you enjoy it.
