A huge prob for a lot of people is doing mixes, then the mix sounds diff outside their studio. Often having speakers pushed up against a wall will do this. @sonndunn ......best thing to do is to run the samples through a tape deck with the recording level a little higher than normal. That..... with the natural distortion on tape,you got some good distortion coming out of the samples. Great on drums.
@sonndunn ......you can also re-sample on the MPC at a lower bit rate.....this is time consuming but it does the trick. I resample all my samples to SP 1200 specs to get that raw hip hop sound found on many classics from back in the day.
@kekenalii........... Right.......the MPC samples at 44.1 but you can RESAMPLE your samples to SP1200 specs on the MPC in the RESAMPLE screen. The conversion is consuming but the results are dead on.

@hitcreatormusic I would avoid the M-Audio pro88. I have one and the keys are too heavy. They are not like piano keys. the weight is heavier, then kind of springs down after enough pressure. Its real hard to play soft and dynamically. I would feel it before you buy it. There are alternatives I wished I checked out first. I know a few other people who feel the same way about it. Not trying to put the guys gear down, just a try before you buy warning.

How does it all hook into your computer? Just through the digi interface or did you have another analog digital converter that I didnt notice? I am kind of not happy with just the 8 inputs on a digi 001 myself.

@sonndunn ......best thing to do is to run the samples through a tape deck with the recording level a little higher than normal. That..... with the natural distortion on tape,you got some good distortion coming out of the samples. Great on drums.

@sonndunn ......you can also re-sample on the MPC at a lower bit rate.....this is time consuming but it does the trick. I resample all my samples to SP 1200 specs to get that raw hip hop sound found on many classics from back in the day.

there is NO mpc that samples 12 bit 26,040 Hz like a SP1200.

@kekenalii........... Right.......the MPC samples at 44.1 but you can RESAMPLE your samples to SP1200 specs on the MPC in the RESAMPLE screen. The conversion is consuming but the results are dead on.

@hitcreatormusic I would avoid the M-Audio pro88. I have one and the keys are too heavy. They are not like piano keys. the weight is heavier, then kind of springs down after enough pressure. Its real hard to play soft and dynamically. I would feel it before you buy it. There are alternatives I wished I checked out first. I know a few other people who feel the same way about it. Not trying to put the guys gear down, just a try before you buy warning.
